Remembering Lynne Thigpen...

Some tributes for Lynne Thigpen are on-line. The first one is from Cindy and is an overview of Lynne's career with an emphasis on her work from Bear in the Big Blue House.

The second tribute is from Peter Linz, puppeteer of Tutter and Pip. He performed the puppet of Luna (Lynne was her voice). Peter recalls some wonderful memories of working with Lynne on the show.

The "Goodbye Song" has a whole new meaning now.

Touching tributes to someone sorely missed. Lovely writing Cindy, Peter and Noel. Lynne was a crucial part of what makes Bear so great, so fun, so well put together and so well loved by ALL members of the family. I remember they had Bear in a costume at the UK Toy Fair and hardened business execs from all the companies stopped their work as they saw bear to go grab a photo and shake Bears hand, they came away talking about all the characters and how great the show was.

Those are really nice tributes. I'm glad Peter Linz and Noel MacNeal could take time out of their (most-likely) busy schedules to remember her.

Friday night I went to see Anger Management. A very funny movie. Whenver she came on, all I could think about was Luna, and how much Lynne Thigpen will be missed. She had a very funny role in the movie, and one that fit her well. She deffentiely will be missed.

Well, I enjoyed the tributes written. They were, indeed, very touching.

I was wondering if anybody had a sound clip where it's possible to hear Lynnes voice. I've never seen the bear series in english only the one with the danish voices.
So that I can get a feeling of the warmth and comfort in her voice, that Noel wrote about in the tribute.

Have you ever seen Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? She played the Chief in that.

Nope. That do not ring a bell. I've just been to IMDB to do a search on her, and saw that she was in Shaft and the insider. Some of my friends have those movies, so I'am going to go over and borrow the movies from them.

The following is an audio sample of Lynne Thigpen as Luna from Bear in the Big Blue House.

The clip is less than two minutes long and while it contains a portion of "The Goodbye Song," I recorded it in 22kHz Mono and encoded the MP3 at 80kbps to disuade folks from using it as a substitute for commercially available products. If you want the entire song, you're encouraged to buy the CD which is packed with wonderful songs. The episode from which this dialogue appears is on the Sleepy Time with Bear and Friends home video release available on DVD.

The purpose of this clip (and in making it lesser than optimal quality) is purely for the purpose of exposure to the talent of the late Lynne Thigpen.
