Ernie and Bert's "Count on Sports" DVD coming July 22

Just a reminder that Ernie and Bert’s “Count on Sports” DVD will be released on July 22. We have some advance photos from the show and the new “Bert and Ernie’s Great Adventures” animated sequences which are included as bonus features on the new DVD.

See the pictures and info on the DVD release…

Pre-order from Amazon and support MC…

The new animated sequences are pretty good and thankfully feature the vocal talents of Steve Whitmire and Eric Jacobson. Our three year-old has requested to see these new animated bits over and over. This one’s not included on the DVD, but here’s a sample of what the new segments are like from Youtube.

I am really loving the new Bert and Ernie animated, the intros really good and the voicework is excellent. I would have thought the stories were a little complicated for pre-school but seems not, so thats brilliant! They are going to be showing it on Channel FIVE here early mornings in the UK - we've already had a few old shows updated with this kind of animation on there and they've done well so hopefully it'll be a success.

I just bought the DVD! I'm really enjoying it so far! Bert and Ernie are awesome! And Grover is perfect, as always! And The Count is very funny. A rebuilt Guy Smiley puppet was used in one of the segments. Great DVD Sesame Workshop! Very nice use of little-Elmo appearances!

August 7th is Sesame Street Day at Shea Stadium and I'm TOTALLY going! Dude, since this DVD is all about sports, I bet there's going to be some sort of cross promotion. One of the chapter titles is 7th inning stretch...

Claymation Cavemen present taking turns
The Count races in the Transylvania 3000 and counts the racecars
Elmo presents the "Top Ten Plays of the Day" (ten clips of Elmo playing sports)
Murray Monster finds various shapes at a baseball game, disruppting it severely

Grover, Elmo, and Zoe sing a new song called "7th Inning Stretch"
Ernie and Bert talk to a talking tennis ball
Elmo and Venus Williams play a game of imaginary tennis

And that's all I think... I can't remember any others, if there were any.

Well, he doesn't talk or do anything of note. he's just one of the spectators that watch the Count. It's a nice use of the character, don't get me wrong.

I wish they'd rebuild other old school characters and put them in the background.

Exactly. Just want to clear it up for anyone who didn't see that segment.

But they did rebuild and reuse him for that reading PSA... I suppose it would have been a waste not to have him in the crowd somewhere.

That was petty cool! Would be surprising if they used him for the show again sometime.

One of the clips on the "Highlight Reel" for Season 39 showed Guy Smiley on a game show type set with The Oinker Sisters and Chris. So i think we'll be seeing him soon.
