According to R2 project (http://www.r2-dvd.org/article.jsp?sectionId=3&articleId=5800) coming this November from Columbia DVD...............

Muppet Family Christmas & A Christmas Toy DVDs :excited: WILL BE RELEASED :excited: Along with The Labyrinth & Dark Crystal DVD Box Set and Bear In the Big Blue House - "Woodland Heroes" DVD.

At last some Henson classic comes to UK DVD. Lets hope this is a sign and see if they will put "TMM" & "TGMC" on to DVD

Let me know what you think

I've been thinking about buying labyrinth on DVD but now I will wait with that.

My copy of Christmas toys are not that good so I will defently get that. I don't really care about Muppet Family Christmas because the VHS that I got are the uncut version, but i think it would be great if this would turn out to be a uncut version.

So this are very good news in my ears. And we can only hope at these titles are going to make some good sales so that they would realese more titles as region 2.

Oh yeah I forgot about will be uncut DVD's :o

It's very likely to be a copy from the NTSC DVD masters

Labyrinth/Dark Crystal box set

Uh ... OK. So is that rumored box set kinda like the previously-released Dark Crystal/Labyrinth two-pack DVD set ... only with a really big fancy box around the DVDs? Maybe it collects the superbits? I'm confused.

EDIT

Never mind ... I guess this is all about Region 2 DVDs. I didn't click on the link before I posted.

Great news of muppet fans in the UK and round the world. I only wish we got some more muppet things on DVD here in Australia we only have 2 proper movies on DVD and one kermit swamp years DVD, 3 isnt enough.

This could however be good news as region 2 DVDs are closely linked to the Australian region 4 format, they use the same PAL video system aswell as some DVDs are both region 2 and 4 so it would be nice to see something happen in the Australian muppet DVD department too! :)

GREAT news!!! :halo:

But will Muppet Family Christmas & The Christmas Toy be on 1 dvd?
I hope not...I would rather have them seperate!

Too bad that they´re not uncut though... :boo:

Hans

I didn't say their will be cut, I said it likely to be cut. These days UK DVD's are copied from US DVD's (I guess) .

However the UK video verison is to be uncut to the current US video print so there is still a chance to be uncut DVD verison :). I can't say for the "Christmas Toy"

See ya :p

The Christmas Toy has never been released on DVD in the United States, only VHS. Actually, my hunch would be that the UK Muppet Family Chirstmas DVD would be the same as the UK video release. This is not based on any fact, it just seems likely it will follow that pattern instead of being the edited version that we have.

AFAIK the rights issues that plague MFC in the US aren't a problem in the UK. However, all VHS releases from the first one in 1989 onwards have been cut by a few seconds.

Whatever they do, keep your fingers crossed that the UK release isn't taken from the same master that was used for the French release last year. Not only is it cut in the same way as the US release, but the NTSC->PAL conversion is atrocious and entirely unwatchable :-(

I doubt they use the French print as it dosen't have an english track (right ?) and have to find an english track to replace it. Unless they use it as an 2nd auido track and get US print and use that track as well :(

Wrong :-) The French DVD has an English soundtrack on it.

So this is only in the UK then?but I would really like TCT on DVD! I hope it comes to the USA too! It's odd that they are re relasing AMFC on dvd again? It hasn't come to the uk then right? Because it has been out in the USA, I was hoping they as i read this they it was world round and wishing they got the rights to the whole movie so they could put it all in the dvd, but I guess not then in the US?

Not necessarily - here in the US we got a pan&scan version of "Muppet Treasure Island" in the US, whereas the UK got an anamorphic widescreen release. The extras on the DVDs were pretty much the same, though.

Blackstar.co.uk has listed the item (http://www.blackstar.co.uk/video/item/7000000083724).

The product is entitled "Muppet Family Christmas, A / A Christmas Story " to be realsed on 3rd of Nov. '03 with this summury.........
Featuring 'A Muppet Christmas' in which Emily Bear planned for a nice quiet Christmas, without realising that Kermit and his buddies would show up and 'A Christmas Toy'.
blackstar.co.uk

I'm guessing that is a misprint and meant "The Christmas Toy" and could this mean a double feature DVD ? :excited:

Double feature is my guess, considering that the description contains two other mistakes (Missing the word "family," and misspelled "realizing") :D

"realising" is spelled correctly. It's spelled with an 's' in the UK.

I just looked at the official Columbia Tri-Star Home Entertainment (http://www.cthe.co.uk) site and it's definitely "The Christmas Toy" :excited: along with "MFC"

Next qustion is will it be a double feature DVD (2 films on 1 DVD) or a double DVD pack (Like the French DVD (http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B00007F7ZJ.08.LZZZZZZZ.jpg) one)?

any ideas ?

Columbia's website is the single worst excuse for a site I have *ever* seen! Someone needs to take Flash away from them and beat 'acceptable use' into them with a very big stick...

That moving background coupled with the main site graphicsn is making my eyes hurt :)

The words 'slow', 'unusable' and 'pointless' spring to mind. And to cap it all off, the thing doesn't even work properly! I clicked 'back' after trying to view an item, and I got a blank display for my trouble. Waste of space.

MORE NEWS :

Any ideas what it could be ?

Here's the list of other "Henson/Muppet" DVD(s) will be released :

is this mfc complete?

Highly unlikely. The only version ever released in the UK (to date) is the second edit, which omits the tree-lighting and stocking scenes.

Predictable.

It's the same photo that's been trotted out for every release of this show since the mid-90s.

I love how they make no effort to change it from the last three releases.

The first UK release had a Green Background,The there was a Gold US one and now a Blue/Snow one.

They are so lazy.

One good thing about CTHE is the Extras they give us!
Of Muppets and Men, The Muppet Classic Theatre and now The Christmas Toy!
Heck those arent Extras, They are there own programs! So thats brilliant!

I really hope that Down at Fraggle Rock: Behind The Scenes is on the Fraggle Rock disc in January !

How original

At least the background is a little nicer and has that Christmas feel to it, A long time ago there was one released here in the UK, which was simply a green Background with a Santa Kermit bursting through, Even that is better than these, all four characters look out of scale to me.

And what I don't understand is why they don't include SS or FR character's on the cover, I mean are they not aloud to? Maybe if Big Bird was on it SS fans would be drawn to it too or Parents might buy it for their children.

I mean come on you could have a fire place with the Fraggles Head popping out over it (as they did in the movie, they were on top of one weren't they) then have a sofa infront with Gonzo, Scooter, Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie and Emily Bear sittinf on it with Robin on the arm rest. then standing on the right of the sofa you could have Big Bird, Bert, Ernie & Swedish Chef, behind the sifa they could have Count, Rowlf, Grover, Bunsen & Beaker and on the left side The Christmas Turkey and the snowman aswell as Sprocket and lets just throw Elmo in their to attract the kiddies.

And to make it even more grand than what it would be, add a Christmas Tree on the far right with some Christmas Toy characters under it, they were Christmas presents after all.

Now would that be better than :) :o :concern: breaking through the background all out of proportion to each other?

I quite like it  . Like King prawn says the cover has that christmas feeling :) .

I think this one is the best color scheme that this cover has had, The Blue/Snow is better than the Gold, Green and the other one.

Before this cover came out, We got that nice illustrated one. Remember?

They could have even took the French cover and used that, That one is spectacular! It has Kermit, Big Bird, Gobo and Jim Henson all in Christmas hats.

Warrick, that's the one I was hoping for, too bad we're stuck with this, atleast the extra features are nice.
