View Full Version : Keith Chapman To Unveil New Henson Project
Heres a lil' scoop :-
Keith Chapman, is the guy who created the succesful pre-school animation series "Bob The Builder" in the UK for "HIT Entertainment", but prior to this he worked at Henson for 3 years as Art Director for Muppets licensed product which gave him the inspiration to create his own characters.
He has a 'first look' deal with Universal who will be unveiling "Fifi Forget Me Not" - one of his new pre-school creations soon but his ideas aren't limited to pre-school.
"Keith is also close to revealing another concept (begun prior to his agreement with Universal) in development with Henson; something he believes will have wide merchandising opportunities."
The above is partly copied and partly rewritten from an otherwise boring article in 'License Europe' - a trade magazine in the UK. Sounds mysterious, and this guy mainly does animation. So sounds like a new Henson animation show that could get developed.

When I first saw the article title, I thought maybe Phil had a brother named Keith! ;) Wouldn't it be great to have that kind of an "in" with the company, Phil? :D

Well, you can always buy the rights to the "Keith Chapman" name.
Ask Spike Lee for tips...

I wonder what he'll be doing? Sounds neat. I'd think stop-motion, isn't that what Bob the Builder is?

My nephew loves Bob the Builder. I never knew it came from a one-time Henson employee. Very cool. I wonder what this project is? Something totally new, something for kids or adults?

I was thinking the same thing when I saw this thread. I was quite surprised to learn that it had nothing to do with the Phillip Chapman family! Are there any other chapmans from the chapman family who are muppet fans or anything else muppet related or is is just Phillip and Cindy?
from,
Paul :)
Yeah i'd think it's stop motion animation - unless he's changing direction and it's puppets.

Im into stop motion animation, its very clever and it is actually a type of puppetry! believe it or not! :smirk:
its a form of puppetry as they manipulate the model or the puppet a little bit at a time taking a picture each time the puppet is moved, forming an animation!

I think it would be great if he would do a "Bob the Builder" style animated show using the Muppet Babies. It would be a real slick way to put them back on the tube.

no offense, but I would like it if my muppets stay puppets

Well, stop motion is puppetry in many ways..

Yes, I also thought that there was a family connection :D
Sooner or later there will be people related to this Muppet website in the Muppet company :)

I know it is like Puppetry....but I just like it the same....I guess if a project was well done, I would come to like it....but the idea just doesn't strike my fancy. But I've been proved wrong many a time, and I hope in a situation like this, I would be proved wrong again
but we don't even know much right now

One of us kind of already has gotten there!! Hopefully, he'll post the information here. As bad as I want to, I don't want to tell his news.

You talking full time employement? Or just internship?

Travelling performance.
I sha'n't say more than that because I don't want to give his story away. However, Scott and Nick (who disappeared?!) both know him well from our visit at TMS Live and MuppetFest, where everyone else knows him as "Not-Josh."
It's Matt, TheDude, who is a Performance Artiste, not unlike Gonzo. He does a comedy magic routine, has met David Copperfield several times, and is now doing something very groovy.
It makes me Blue that I can't do it, too; but, hey, I'm proud for my friend.

Ahhh. They talked about his gig over at Tough Pigs.
It's pretty darn cool!
But technically isn't it thru VEE entertainment and not Henson?

Yeah, hence the "kind of already gotten there."
Did he post his story over at TP? I heard about it from Matt via phone one day, and jumped out of my skin I was so excited for him.

I'm thinking this will be a CGI thing having to do something with dogs. Don't ask why, this is just my guess, but I'd like it to be my official guess.
