Hmmm, I wonder if this means we'll see some Electric Mayhem action...
4:3 ? Wasn't it shot in widescreen ?

okay first of all a big OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!! for the Deleated Scene's, the only one we know of is The Electric Mayhem one right? and the Inside Pepe's Studio sounds intresting although I believe Pepe is starting to get elmofied I still like him although since they have a voice for Scooter (Brian Henson) and he does speak in the movie they could have named it Inside Scooter's Studio... who am I kidding I love the classics but Inside Pepe's Studio sounds like so much fun, I can't wait for this.
Inside  Studio!!!!!
There was an hour of stuff cut from the movie so deleted scenes doesn't really mean the EM thing at all - in fact i think you have no chance of that one as they won't want to put Snoop onto the DVD !

Who knows? I wouldn't count that out. As long as he's not featured on the box, I don't think there will be any protests.
It is disheartening that they didn't use the widescreen transfer (as originally shot) but we can't have everything and it was designed to be cropped. It would still have been nice to see the action around the edges.

I thought there was only a half hour cut from it. Still, it isn't likely they'll include ALL the deleted scenes. There was something like 45 minutes cut from Star Trek: Nemesis, and there's only about 15-20 minutes included on the DVD. Which, really sucks, but, that's the way it goes.
I hope they include all the scenes on the DVD. I don't care that Snoop Dogg's in it! What could he have possibly said on there that was as offensive as anything else he's said? Besides, the scene didn't really get cut for content, did it? It got cut because of what Snoop was doing outside the film, right?
I heard Snoop Dogg had said that the script was "real tight" and that's why he wanted to do it. You think he's among us Muppet fans? ;)

No, i'm talking contractual/financial reasons - he still got paid for the initial shoot but there are things Henson probably did to water down the deal he got to save money once they made the decision not to use him. I'd think on that basis they couldn't use his deleted scenes commercially.
SuperScoot :- The movie was cut for time and content, not just the Snoop thing. Snoop was never gonna be in there for 45 minutes or however long it was. I think there was some heavy discussion between Henson and NBC as to what the run time of the movie would be and what the proportion of actual Muppet time Vs NBC cameo time would be. I can't be sure but i think NBC wanted to drag it out and Henson wanted it shorter and tighter but then they got paid $10 million to not just make the movie but to use the Muppets to plug the NBC network talent so if you take the pay day you have to make the compromises which is the real reason why a lot of the Muppet stuff ended up on the floor and they didn't tighten things like the Whoopie scenes which badly needed it. The excuse for cutting Snoop out was convientiently put upon the run time of the movie as if it was too long but it's pretty standard for them to shoot much more and then cut a lot - it's just you never usually hear about it and if the Snoop mess hadn't of needed to be sorted out you never would have. Henson had this alien situation of Snoop going around publicising himself being in the movie much more than i think they would have liked at the time so he became a pain in the butt to them and when everthing got dragged up about him in the press they found themselves in a sticky situation of the press office needing to find a way of limiting the damage that was being caused and i would guess NBC weren't too happy at what he was upto either with $10 Million at stake. Whew long answer !

I still don't know if I want to see this. Am I going to be VERY disapointed at my best friends the Muppets? Is it meant to be canon or a movie?

:excited: I'am just happy to see it released on DVD with extra features.
And just to see Scooter and Janice back in action, that's something I will look forward to.
Of course it would be great to see all the deletet scenes but, I doubt that they will be on it.
And a muppet blopper real are always great to see.
So now I got to figure out how to afford this and the other 2 DVDs (Rocky mountain & Storryteller). So many DVDs to buy, not so much money to do it with.......hmmm wonder how the security are at my loacle bank ;) ;)

I think a little of both, sort of the "approximately how it happened" thing. Whoopi as God? Nah, can't be canon. ;) The whole 'alternate universe' thing would tell us that it's the 'movie' thing, but the fact of them all at the Muppet Theater, and the part of the bank foreclosing on the theater and etc...yeah, I think that part could be canon.
My question is that after all the tv shows, the merchandise, the movies, and all that--you'd think JHC would front the money to Kermit and Company long ago to purchase the Muppet Theater, huh? :smirk:

Well, according to Foz's answer, the things you have mentioned to be offensive to you take place in the scenes that are not canon. The alternate universe scenes. But, ultimately, it's your decission whether you want to see it or not.

I suggest seeing it. It was a very good film. See if you can rent it first if you haven't seen it yet and don't know if you want to buy it or not. Whoopi as God isn't a BAD thing, she's just a non-chalant god; not necessarily THE God. Maybe one of the 'pre-chosen forms.'
Yeah, a Ghostbusters' quote there... :concern:

Why would a made-for-TV movie be shot in widescreen?

It's irritating that they ruin films when they put them on TV. They should have offered it in widescreen!! Heck, it's a DVD, they could put BOTH versions on there.

You'd be surprised. Obviously you haven't heard of HDTV yet. You soon will in a few more years.

Good point - but then again, if they'd done that then Henson wouldn't have had all that fun giving EMTV the run around would they ?

While standard analog TVs have a 4:3 ratio, the newer digital models (made for picking up digital signals) have a 16:9 screen ratio.

Everything is shot widescreen these days because widescreen televisions will become the norm a few years from now and it makes the project more valuable for retail sale. It's funny that these "full frame" transfers will eventually be the cropped ones and have black bars on the sides.

I'm actually a little surprised that this would have been produced with an eye to the future, especially since it was kind of a push for what's on NBC right now.

It's industry standard now. I wouldn't be surpirsed if NBC suggested shooting in widescreen. When you sink 10M into a project and shoot it in high-def video, it only figures that they would shoot wide.

It cracks me up. God and Daniel get to watch Kernit on their floating TV in widescreen, but when we dissolve into the shot to watch it for ourselves, we get the movie cropped. I guess when you've written the laws of the universe, you know where the loopholes are. I'll be off converting my LP collection into MP3s.

Hmmm as for the deleted sence i remember reading an artical mentioning a sence with Pepe and Miss Bittermen and then Irus pub sence or something like that? maybe part of the EM river dance bit? I'm not sure.
heck hopeful they will show the WHOLE ending! rather then cutting to black like how it aird on the Halmark channle or cutting it right off on NBC.
I'm guess it will be in stores? I mean Jack and the Beanstalk "the real story" or whatever was in stores and that was an NBC movie...right?

When I saw this, it was at work during our breaks. Since I'd previously worked for Cirque du Soleil, the Cirque-esqe show had me laughing so hard I cried!! And the Moulin Scrooge?! Bwa-ha-ha!!! And Pepe always going to City Hall for permits. I don't think that our Muppet friends will disappoint at all. Joan Cusack was a fantastic Scrooge(ette). Granted I saw it in bits & pieces and only saw it once, I'm planning on rushing to pick up a copy, okay?
Pepe.... one of my new patron saints!

Warrick told me that the DVD will come out in England on November 24th, and (if anyone's interested) MGM told me that it'll likely come out in Germany as well around the end of 2003.
:excited: So this might also go for the rest of Europe. :excited:

I've got a little update n the cover art on this film, I havn't got a link for it but my sister bought the DVD Agebt Cody Banks and it crought a little booklet with info on upcoming MGM films.
Anyway there was a pic about IAVMMCM and it seems as thought Gonzo's been cut out completley, Pepe's Shrunk tremendousley and Piggy looks much better aswell as Fozzie (Fozzie just slightly he doesn't look to far away)
Just thought some might be intrested. :) :o

It does say artwork subject to change below the pic but I would think this one's the new version since we saw the pic about a month or two ago or it could be the other way around. There both the same since their almost identical but I like the press release (the one we've all seen) better since it has Gonzo and doesn't have Pepe so out of scale although Piggy looks excellent great and fantastic in the booklet one.
Unfortunatley I can't scan but it'll turn up, don't worry.
