As the famed TV detective Columbo would say... One question! Will the Muppet Movie be available on video (like Jim Henson's Jack and the Beabstalk), or will I have to tape it off the air? I might as well, but it never hurts to ask.
I would tape it. You never know how they are going to butcher it if they do put it on DVD or VHS. Like they did Muppet Family Christmas. Or it could be like the John Denver special, and never relesed!

Here is more news on that.
A Very Muppet Christmas Starts Shooting Next Month
According to Production Weekly, the NBC-made-for- movie is scheduled to begin a six week shoot starting July 15th in Vancouver, British Columbia. The telefilm will be directed by Kirk Thatcher, who served as second unit director on the 1999 Muppets from Space, and wrote the 1996 screenplay for Muppets Treasure Island. Actors Steve Whitmire (Kermit the Frog) and Frakn Oz (Miss Piggy/Fozzie Bear), who have both previously lent their voices to the 1992 The Muppets Christmas Carol, are expected to return. The story written by veteran Muppet writer Jim Lewis, will incorporate parodies of classic Christmas films and feature guest shots and cameo appearances by NBC stars and will mark the first significant kiss between Kermit and his longtime love, Miss Piggy.

We probably shouldn't get too excited about the possiblity of Frank just yet. It says 'expected to return' which may mean they are assuming Frank will be a part of the production because they know Piggy is in the movie and Frank has traditionally been a part of Muppet productions. It is possible the person who put the blurb together doesn't know about Eric. I'm not saying Frank won't be there, I'm just saying we shouldn't count on it.

Word in the NY puppeteering community is that Eric has been signed to play Piggy in the upcoming Christmas movie. Not sure who is doing Fozzie, Animal or Sam.

Sweet, good for Eric, I personally think he is more Frank's piggy than even frank as of late. Kermit's a little more Kermit because of it as well. To bad we couldn't have seen this in Cali. New York maybe. Lets hope.

I would think Eric would do Fozzie as well.
Zack)Rowlf the, it would be cool for Eric to do Piggy's voice and Frank to do Fozzie's, Animal's, and Sam's,but most likely,no...Dog.

RE FRANK OZ...
NOTE the key words there "lent their voices," so it would likely be Oz's voice, and another puppeteer. I hate to say so, but at this point he might as well just leave it alone if that's all he is going to do. I'm mad at him. That and the fact that they could do a LOT more with Fozzie if they just would hire me for the role! that's all!
I own a rubber chicken, I own fuzzy nose glasses, I own a horn, I own a plastic banana...just like Fozzie. How much more could one guy be into doing that character than me??
Oh, well, I suppose that would be the guy they actually hired to do it, huh? hmm...
Jealously,
Foz

As for the "lent their voices" thing. I'd chalk that up to reporter ignorance. You know how they're always doing that. Like when articles are written about the old Star Wars movies, they always say Frank is the voice of Yoda, ignorant of the fact that he also performs Yoda. Besides, it says, "...lent their voices to to the 1992 The Muppets Christmas Carol..." which has no bearing on who will perform what in this new special.
Either way, I can't get that "Race the Truck" commercial out of my head.
Is anyone worried about this alleged kiss? I fear for Kermit's sanity if he were to actually do this. I mean, he doesn't actually like Piggy like that, does he?
"...first significant kiss..." Muppets Take Manhattan's kiss wasn't significant? Or is this a "real life" thing?

Kermit does like Piggy like that!!! Kermit may be resistant at times, and Piggy does come on too strong for his tastes, but Kermit is in love with her. Ever since that beauty pagent Kermit has been in love with her, and I think, he always will be.

But Kermit has expressed some pretty strong anti-Piggy sentiments. I guess I just find conflict between the movies' romances and the shows' romances (namely, the movies got 'em, the shows don't).
Excuse me if I'm a bit anti-relationship. *Sigh* :(

Sorta...
Based on all the things I've read in the past, namely a letter from the Editor in a Muppet Magazine, Kermit's kiss w/ the marriage thing to Piggy in TGMC was all just for the Movie.
Does he like her like that, I think he maybe sort of does, but I think it's taken 25 years for him to actually REALLY begin to like her; kind of like how a fungus takes a while to grow on rocks in a rolling river, you know? Or how long it takes for that new rubber smell to leave your rubber chicken.
I think Kermit COULD like her very VERY much...however, if they let them fall in love and really DO become an item for good, then the story is dead. Like the whole Niles/Daphne thing on Frasier...they got hitched, and the fun was gone. It'd be like Charlie Brown getting to meet the Red Haired Girl (per Schulz, only the comic strips count, not the animated films, so the kiss from the Red Haired Girl named Heather in the movie doesn't count).
So, I don't think the other kisses count for Kermit and Piggy as this one will since HE will initiate it. I also think that if he DIDN'T like her like that, we wouldn't have seen the 2 of them sitting so closely all the time. So, it's a 50-50 thing right now. We'll see what happens in a few years.
