Did you see it? How was Kermit?

Hey Phil,

Kermit is in fine form so far tonight - the voice is definitely Steve Whitmire. He joked that the small fire at Buckingham Palace last night was due to Ozzy Osbourne spontaneously combusting, said that he's got an arrangement with the Queen to stay in her pond when he stops over in the UK, and talked about his recent duet with Kylie Minogue. He was being interviewed by a popular TV presenter called Jamie Theakston.

The whole concert is actually being staged inside the gardens at Buckingham Palace in the presence of the Queen live on TV so its a big thing for everyone. It was definitely made to sound like Kermit will play a bigger role in the actual show later tonight, he was introduced as the person (or frog) assisting Jamie Theakston and Jamies role is to do all the backstage links and performer interviews once the concert starts so i guess we'll be seeing more.

It's all one big party here in the UK today and also tommorow so good that Kermit is to be a part of it !

For people in other countries - the show tonight is being webcast live on the internet at :-

http://www.bbc.co.uk/musiclive/webcast.shtml

The show starts at 7:30pm our time (BST) which i think works out at 3:30pm Eastern Standard Time. It's going to last for about 4 hours and i think it's also available recorded from the site afterwards.

Warrick :- They announced that he had specially flown over from the states, and i guess they wouldn't just come over for that quick interview so there should be more. He wasn't promoting any products or anything.

Kermit was on again with Ruby Wax. They had a little conversation about stealing the Crown Jewels ! LOL!

It was Two minutes and Fifty Five Seconds long !

Great Stuff !

Hi Guys,

Well here's a rundown of Kermit's part of the concert. As Warrick said, Kermit appeared with Ruby Wax to introduce Tony Bennet - they were both sitting on a mini stage a little way from the main one, Steve Whitmire must have been underneath the stage area because it was a totally open space. They had a funny chat, mentioned Miss Piggy, but it kinda messed up because they finished their intro before Tony Bennet was ready to come on, but it all kinda worked itself out.

In the finale Steve Whitmire openly came on stage with all the other artists and performed Kermit for versions of 'Hey Jude' and 'All You Need Is Love'. Kermit was propped on Tom Jones shoulder for the second song and was singing along to the words. Kermit also met the Queen, and the rest of the Royal Family as they met the artists and shook their hands (flippers etc). This was all very cool - Kermit had one of the best spots right up the front with the main throng of performers like Paul Mcartney, Tom Jones, Ozzy Osbourne, Rod Stewart. He was in shot more or less right the way through the finale and shown a lot of the time during Prince Charles speech. On a lot of our news channels Kermit's also just been interviewed talking about how it all went.

It was quite a concert, very cool fireworks, and for those who want to see it, it'll be on VH1 in America on July 9th. You can also see it on the net at that link i posted !

OMG !

I taped the whole ending, i got it all !

Steve and Kermit were in SOOOOO Much!

Nearly every Ten Seconds of the 20 minutes you could see Steve and Kermit !

And the Queen said hello to him !!

If anyone has seen that Clinton thing with Steve and Dave in the finale standing up with their Puppets, Its like that.
Except this time Steve was upfront and not hiding behind people !

what mroe could i want, Kermit, Rachel and Emma Bunton all in the same place !

I should think that the first thing shown, With Jamnie Theakston will be shown again on the Digital CBBC Channel.
Seeing as it was a Blue Peter Special !

what news was he on Luke ?

See ya

He's been on Sky News and BBC News 24 so far !

Ok so there is a Realvideo backstage interview with Kermit and a photo of him at this link :-

http://www.bbc.co.uk/musiclive/backstageinterviews.shtml

He's in the middle (next to Ozzy Ozbourne) on the third block of people down. I think the direct link is :-

I thought the whole thing was cool too Warrick, i was so glad Steve was up there right at the front with Kermit and having such a good time - they are both looking well !

Do you know if they will be on any more News channels ?

Thanks

Luke

Hey Warrick,

If you just record either Sky News or News 24 at the start of the next hour they'll probably repeat the interview clips over and over each hour into tommorow morning. The News24 clip is the same one as the realvideo link i posted.

im wathcing now there is also clips iof him singing on ITN NEws.

Is it the Jamie Theakston interview or a new one?

Thanks

Luke

The singing one must be a new interview. In the Jamie interview Kermit is sitting beside a lake - it wasn't part of the Blue Peter thing - it was shown in the programme after that.

Hey,
watch BBC News and Sky News now, you can catch the Clips being repeated every hour !

I got the small Interview of Kermit from Sky News talking about him living in the Pond of the Palace when he is over here in the UK.
And a clip of him interupting the BBC News Reporter saying that there was not only Humans there, But Frogs also!

If you got the Jamie Theakston Interview Then can we include that in the Trade Danny ?

We realised that fans not in the UK, and a few of those who are, would probably not have had the opportunity to see the concert so to give you all a taster of the concert and to see Steve Whitmire and Kermit's part in it we have (very quickly) put together a couple of pages on Kermitage.com of screen shots and information detailing the bits that Kermit appeared in.

www.kermitage.com/html/kermitjubliee/kermitjubliee.html

The concert was a very prestigious event and also a very historical one which will be remembered by those who saw it for a very long time. Thousands of people attended the concert and 1 million people watched it outside of the palace on big screens. An estimated 200 million people watched it around the world live on TV. It was great that Kermit (and Steve) could be part of it.

Hope you enjoy the pages!

Michael & Mar.

Thanks for putting that site together its great !

The text that Kermit said in the interview wasnt from the picture of Kermit with that man. He just came on and reminded the man that it wasnt all Humans, and that there were Frogs there too.

Did you by any chance get to see the Jamie Theakston interview?

Oh, and did the New York Offices tell you about any more Kermit appearances this week ?

Thanks

Thanks for sharing the photos with us. They look good and will be enjoyed by many who missed the event.

Being a part of the Queen's Concerts is fantastic publicly for the Jim Henson Company.

Michael & Mar :- Cool pages - thanks for putting it together for us all so quickly. It was cool seeing the Queen, Kermit and Ozzy Osbourne in one picture - what were the chances of getting those three together before yesterday eh ? :-)

Warrick :- Just so you know. The fairly long Jamie Theakston interview you are referring to was in the 5pm to 5.30pm show 'The Palace Gets Ready To Party'.

Glad everyone is enjoying the pictures, for those of you in the US I can really recommend watching the concert when it airs on VH1, not just for Kermit but for the whole show.

Warrick: Yeah the qoute from Kermit was from a quick interview with him that appeared on Sky News amongst other places, the pictures were from something that aired this morning on BBC 1. I just felt they were more interesting than just Kermit on his own.

Kermit appeared on a tribute show to Paul McCartney on Friday night on BBC 1, however this wasn't live or filmed while he was in the UK it was taped a while ago ready for the show. The same production team that made that also made the "I Love the Muppets" show. It was quite a long tribute where Kermit did the lead in to McCartney's infamous Frog Song.

I never knew about the Paul Mcartney tribute, I dont think no one knew around here.

What was it called, ill email the BBC and see if they are going to repeat it?

Kermit was in two UK newspapers today 'The sun' and 'The Mirror'. He had great pictures in both Papers!

Check out the Sun article, not about Kermit, But a nice picture -

Hi folks,

Might also be worth buying today's Daily Mail as it contains a 64 page Jubilee Special which has an A4 picture of Kermit talking to the Queen (mouth really wide open) with Steve Whitmire very visible in the background.

Regards,

M.
