It's Just Weird to make fun of a joke about a show that they where on.

As I always say, what good is something if you can't make fun of it.
Don't forget, the Simpson's make fun of themselves all the time.

It's funny, because Conan O' Brian (sp?) keeps making all these weird Muppet jokes in his show, yet Triumph the comic dog was on the Christmas movie.\
Besides, it's a loving joke. A lot of Simpsons writers must be Muppet/ Sesame fans, and so, they make all these jokes like that.
But, I belive that they've made fun of Rocky and Bullwinkle a number of times, and... Matt Groening (series creator) was totally Inspired by Jay Ward's show. In fact, I still belive if it wasn't for Bullwinkle, the Simpsons would either not exist or be completely different!

The Simpsons is pretty much a sounding board for making fun of things.
Look what they do to Arnold (I will spell this wrong!) Swartzenegger...they have a character called McBain that is based on him, poor guy!
If you want someone who loves a Muppet character and even has a great song about him, look toward Weird Al Yankovich! I mean, what the heck was "Yoda" if not a MAJOR contribution to Muppet history and Frank Oz?

I'm pretty sure the Muppet people can handle a little playful teasing. Like water off a duck's back. (I think that's the expression.)

You also have to remember that Conan has worked with The Muppets a few times. I remember him one time saying he was a fan, as well as Jay Leno (who has said he likes the Muppets numerous times, plus Kermit and Piggy have been on the show several times) Also, those TV show hosts don't write the material, y'know. They have anothe team of writers.

great thing i love about the simpsons: they make fun of anything and everything.....it's not like the people at henson are going to sue the people that do the simpsons show....the people at henson probably don't even care honestly...

No matter how much we love the Muppets, they aren't "hands off". People can and will make jokes (good and bad). My advice? Get used to it. Some of them are pretty darn funny...

As long as it aint that Bert is Evil or Muppet Aids cartoon bullcrap, Im cool with any satire. Thats good, it means they are relevant enough TO PARODY! heh

My favorite Simpsons joke about the Muppets is this one:
Lisa: Hey Dad, what's a Muppet?
Homer: Well, it's not quite a mop and it's not quite a puppet, but maaaaan heeheehee. So to answer your question, I don't know.

I love Dr. Phil's Words of the Day. Such jokes are meant to be funny. Too bad Oprah doesn't get it.
The episoce where the Simpsons show The Muppets Go Mideval used to bug me just because it portrays the Muppets as cheap, low quality fare. But you can't take that stuff so seriously and it was a funny bit. We should only be scared when nobody mentions the Muppets anymore.
I love Conan's bits on the murdering Ernie and Bert segments. I just find that hysterically funny!
Yeah any publicity is good publicity ! Like Jamie i wasnt a big fan of the 'Muppets Go Medieval' or whatever it was but a lot of the other jokes have been funny rather than crewd !

The episode where the PBS fund-drivers come after Homer is pretty funny too--Big Bird, Elmo, Oscar, Mr. Rogers, Teletubbies all chasing him down...
John Stewart on The Daily Show uses Muppets and Sesame Street quite a bit too. Also funny.
Nothing but love.

I love Jon Stewart! Did anyone see the one where he had Ray Liotta on for Narc and Jon introduces him by listing all these films he's been in similar to Narc. So then Ray Liotta says, 'geez, you make it sound like I'm a drug dealer or something, why didnt you mention Muppets from Space??' I just thought it was funny:)
