The ultimate Sesame Street collector's book is almost here...

The hardcover book, "Sesame Street: A Celebration of 40 Years of Life on the Street" (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1579126383/muppetcentral/) is coming this fall and you can save 34% off the regular price. The special release with feature over 300 pages and over 1,500 photographs—both in front of and behind the camera—directly from the archives of the Sesame Workshop, and many of them have never before been published.

Since most of us will be getting "Sesame Street: A Celebration of 40 Years of Life on the Street", we'd like to mention that if you order the release from Amazon using this link (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1579126383/muppetcentral/), a small portion of your order will go to Muppet Central to help keep the site, forum and radio running smoothly. It's a great way to help MC and get a great price on the hardcover book with a low-price guarantee. Meaning, you can pre-order now and save 34% off the regular price (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1579126383/muppetcentral/) (and if Amazon lowers the price even more you're guaranteed the lowest price by pre-ordering). We appreciate each person that helps support MC by placing orders through the site.

I think it's been up for pre-order for a while now. Is there still no release date set?

I'm also wondering what the final cover art will look like. What they have up there can't possibly be it.

I've heard October 1 or November 10, I have no idea which is right. :(

Muppet Wiki has it set for October 1st, yet this website has it listedd for November 10th. What is the actual release date anyway? Also, will the book be lamenated over to keep customers in retail shops from messing around with it?

P.S.
Can't wait to see a review for both this and the DVD set.

Youtube actually has a promo for the book. It can be found here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhijK8Fo5fg

It's interesting. It mentions that the bonus DVD includes a clip montage in addition to the first episode. I wonder if it's really a clip montage or if it's several full bonus clips. The clips shown are ones that are pretty much confirmed to be included in the 40th anniversary two-disc set.

Thanks for Posting the Video is very cool, I am looking forward to getting the Book, but the DVD coming with it sounds a little like the 40th anniversary DVD, but I think I will just get both anyways cause the 40th anniversary DVD set sounds awesome! :D

Me personally, I'm going to put the book on my Chrsitmas list for this coming holiday season. As for the DVD set, I might just purchase that out of my own money, or whatever giftcards I get from friends and realtives this season.

Nice Idea

My Birthday is November 9th and my Mom said we'll look into getting the DVD set on the 10th and I'll put the Book on my Christmas List! :D

I got an email from Amazon today saying the shipping would be delayed for this (which I guess means the release date has been pushed back?) I had to confirm the delay and that I was still interested in the item, so it's still on my pre-order list...

I sent a message to the publishers at Black Dog & Leventhal last night and have recieved a message from them concerning the release date:

"The book will be shipping from our warehouse on Oct. 16th and should start showing up in accounts 1 1/2-2 weeks later. Thanks for your interest."

So hopefully that should clear everything up for everyone. :p:(:insatiable:

On November 10th?

I don't see why not. After all, Nov. 10 is the day ALL the 40th anniversary goodies are coming out, to mark the to the day anniversary.

Anyone else liking the weirdness that the book comes with a DVD and the DVD comes with a book? :sing:

Muppet Wiki just posted that the date for the books release was on Oct. 22. Hopefully people should be recieving it very, very soon. By the way, will there be a review posted on here about it? (I know I've already asked that but the anticipation is just so much for me)

I got the book today. So far I have only glanced through it but it looks good. Furthermore, at the back there's a section called "Need To Read" - and this website is mentioned!

I know that I have said this countless times, but I really hope that someone will post a review on this website about it and on the DVD set!

Even if there isn't one here, you had better believe there will be one at The Muppet Mindset (http://themuppetmindset.blogspot.com)--that is... once yours truly gets the book in the mail. :p

I know that some people have copies already. I'd like to know what all clips are in the montage on the bonus disc and how long it is. I heard that it's just a montage, and no full clips (rats!).

Now that the book has been officially released and our review is on-line, we're moving the discussion here...
