Dose anyone know if Steve Whitmire is alive or dead? He dose kermit,bean bunny, and Rizzo the Rat just to name a few that he dose. I went to school with him and have heard from two differant people that he was killed in a auto crash! There has been no posting on Muppet Central on this matter, and I really would like to know!:(

He is still alive and healthy! As a matter of fact, he is performing Kermit on Hollywood Squares all week! (Along with Eric Jacobson's Miss Piggy) You sure are lucky to have met him! :)

And when he's not puppeteering, I'm pretty sure he and his wife still live in Atlanta. (or that was the impression I got from one of his stories at Muppetfest).

on the A&E Biography special about sesame street, Steve built his very own Kermit puppet and started performing him for people around his neighborhood, he did get the nickname Kermit, (The name was even on his yearbook.)
