The Muppet Show (Ultimate Outline)
The Muppet Show Live

For those who always wanted to do one of those neat Muppet Show outlines, but couldn't think of enough great sketches, here is Muppet Show Live! In this game we as a team create a brand new (ongoing) Muppet Show episode, ranging from popular guest stars to our very own Muppet ones.

Beauregard once suggested that the Game Masters will choose the guest stars. If you write for the guest stars, be sure to do your research for them and their songs or movies.

The rules:

1. This is NOT a RPG.
2. Each post will be a particular sketch for The Muppet Show and you will write the script for the character(s) and guest star. Keep in mind that the usual formula of a Muppet Show is in order of dressing room/guest star introduction, opening sequence, opening number, Statler and Waldorf, backstage, sketch/song, Statler and Waldorf, backstage, and so on. While writing sketches, keep the show's formula in order.
3. You can only post ONE sketch at a time, then it's someone else's turn. Each post must be well thought out, sensible, tasteful, and fun.
4. You must stay within the integrity of the characters of the show, and it can include characters from The Muppet Show, Jim Henson Hour: Muppet Central, or Muppets Tonight.
5. We can only have one guest star (who is living) within a 20 post term, after which we can have a new guest star.

At the end of the game someone can volunteer to collect the best of all sketches, songs, and puns together into an outline which will be put in the fan-fic section of this site.

So, on with the show......

Hi, Kathy,

It's not a role-playing game. You write the skit for the characters in that particular scene.

For example:

Fade in:
Scooter: Hi, Steve Martin? 20 seconds to curtain, Mr. Martin...Wow! What are you doing with those arrows?
Steve: (arrow through his head) Trying to clean out my ears, but I think I missed!
Scooter: (to camera) Yikes.

Then, the next person posts the next sketch. Please read the first post for further instructions.

Bunnies:uh oh

Like that, yes.

Soon, I'll delete the past couple of posts since they don't really start the game any. The next post should start the game, though.

SCOOTER: "Angela Lansbury? Oh, Angela Lansbury! Thirteen seconds to curtain, Ms. Lansbury."

ANGELA: "Why thank you, dear. Say, Scooter, have you seen my boa? I can't find it."

SCOOTER (pointing to a red feather boa draped over her chair): "Is that it?"

ANGELA: "No... oh, there it is!" (She picks up a live boa constrictor and wraps it around her shoulders) "I found it."

The curtain opens to reveal an expensive luxury cruise ship. A pig sits at a piano while other pigs dressed as waiters visit tables where other pigs dressed as fancy ocean-goers dine on delicacies. A stage is set up, where Miss Piggy is standing in a spotlight. She is the dinner entertainment.

The piano pig begins to play. It is the keyboard part to Abba's "S.O.S." Piggy begins to sing.

It is a rousing ensemble number as the tables, waiters, diners, and pianist join in the chorus. But by the time they reach the end of the first chorus, the set begins to lean.

Valiantly, the pigs struggle on, but tables and pigs are all sliding down the slope. Piggy clings to the bannister, but nothing can stop the disaster. The ship sinks.

SCENE: A clock shop.

MUSIC: "Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper

Wayne and Wanda enter the clock shop and start to sing this lovely, melodious song as a duet. But as they reach the first chorus, all of the clocks strike twelve! Coockos are popping out everywhere, and the song is drowned out by the toll of the hundreds of bells.
