Hi, I'm new to the forum and I've hunted through the old posts to try and find anaswer to this one.
I'm trying to make a rod puppet mechanism that works in the same way as Pepe the King Prawn does.

From what I can tell from repeated watching he hasa mouth mech (can do) head rotate separate from the body (can do) but he has a look up and down movement in that mix too (very obvious in muppets from space...the card playing scene and the tutu scene)

Anyone know how this works with the mouth mech?

If there are photos of the pepe puppet anywhere without the body on I'd be very interested in seeing them.

I've noticed that he seems to have two different arm movement techniques too (when all four arms are being used that is) two with the traditional rod method and two which I can only assume are worked with a bike cable type method.

Thanks for any help or pointers in the right direction

Have a look at the animatronics and puppet mech section on PuppetBuilding.com (http://puppetbuilding.com/animatronics/). You should find some helpful resources there. A cheap and easy way to do a Pepe-like mouth mech is to use a fish hook remover, which you can buy at Wal-Mart usually.

There are many old threads here on the forum dealing with this that have a lot of good ideas. Have you read this one (http://forum.muppetcentral.com/showthread.php?t=20707)?

Mike (Propologist) posted some pics of Pepe/Rizzo style mechanisms some time back. I just did a search and found links to pages with these pictures. He probably knows more about these things than anyone else here on the forum!

I already made a version of one of those, but i think I can adapt the rizzo mech to my needs.
I'll post pictures when I've finished

There was a post on Swazzel's puppet 101 - I believe that might prove helpful in this mouth. Someone told me about it some time back, but I cannot locate the exact link on Swazzel. It features, I believe, a "Lady Fromage" mouse type rod puppet tutorial of the building process. :) Anybody recall this link?
