How many episodes are produced for Mopatop's Shop? And what classic obscure Muppets are in each episode of this show?

You mean the obscure characters are from the following shows:
The Muppet Show
Fraggle Rock
The Jim Henson Hour
Jim Henson's Animal Show
Muppet Time
Muppets Tonight?
I don't think Fraggle, but most of the others !

Yes, there are quite a few Fraggle Rock characters that made appearances, especially those few that also make cameos in the movies.
The Muppet Show, Jim Henson Hour, Muppets Tonight, Animal Show, Muppet Time, Fraggle Rock. The real fan can recognize them all. Wonderful series... just wonderful how they use all those old characters.
Wow - Fraggle too ? I need to watch it more - i only ever see that little mouse. Way to go for obscurity !
It's actually a crying shame how Moppatops and Hoobs aren't featured more at Muppet sites. There needs to be guides, pictures and lots more information. I think these are two very strong shows and for me, Hoobs is way better written and put together than 'Bear'.

Yeah Fraggle Rock Characters can be seen in the show.
I love it, Its so fantastic !

Which specific old obscure Muppet characters/creatures did have they used on "Mopatop's Shop"?
I heard that Boppity, Gloat, Droop, Lenny the Lizard and Wander McMooch are a few of them, but what about the others?

I also heard that these Muppet birds (Youknow, Whaddyasay, Forcryingoutloud, Ohboy, Righton, Ohreally, the green birds from "Take A Chance", and a canary) can be seen in several episodes of Mopatop's Shop.

It's a real shame stuff like Mopatops, Hoobs, I love the Muppets, Construction Site, etc can only be seen in a certain part of the world. Hopefully someone will upload these on an ftp site or Kazaa...but til then you can find 4 Mopatops episodes online:
http://mopatop.carlton.com
The quality is more akin to a glitchy picture show(thanks to the technological advances of Real Player, echh) but its there.
for those curious, Mopatops is like a British version of Bear in the Big Blue House...to me its almost like an international version ala the varying global Sesame's. And somehow they manage to
have a portal to the old Muppet theatre, Fraggle Rock, and other JHC classics.

I recently watched the video clips on the "Mopatop's Shop" web site. Some of the old Muppet creatures that I recognized in them were:
Shakey Sanchez
Wander McMooch
Talking Food
One of the plants from John Denver's "Garden Song"
Philo or Gunge
a Boar (probably from "Muppet Treasure Island")
Raymond the Porcupine (from "Muppets Tonight")
Mice (from "The Muppet Christmas Carol")
Canary (from "The Muppet Show")

Mainly because those shows are only seen in certain places on the globe. Though I think it's wonderful that the Muppets transend culture and are beloved all over the world, I wish that they'd share Mopatops shop and Hoobs with the Americans (i.e. me). I don't know what I'm missing apparnetly. I mean, PBS had a huge choice of British imports, and they had to go with shudder.. Teletubbies?
I wish I could see this stuff. It's probably really cool!

I think its a shame two-fold: 1) Nobody ever is interested stateside of Mopatops or Hoobs(despite the fact Mopatops is ripe with TMS, FR, etc cameos) nor has any desire to do anything about it it seems. I mean wouldnt we all love to see that I love the Muppets BBC special?
2) These are only seen in the UK and Europe so its a little hard to be excited about it when its nealry impossible to see it...
and sorry to say but trying to seek out Canadian satelite vhs trade circles is more than what people should be required to do.
3) It's a cold war. If Im a European Im gonna think 'well thats what it feels like when you guys get say an exclusive Muppet special or show'. and US people will say 'Well how am I spose to be excited about something I dont have access to'
Aw the lameness of PAL formats. *sigh*
the only answer is vcd conversions...and Im sorry if JHC is reading this, but what are we as fans spose to do? Are these shows intended to only be seen by Europeans solely?

Yes, thats why Moppatop has a Birmingham accent. You'd probably need subtitles in the states ! ;-)

Dont you mean "Aw the lameness of NTSC formats. *sigh*" ?
But its true, All you gotta do is trade with someone from Canada.
I think that if someone like me manages to get rare stuff that never aired in England, Then people in the US should be able to get stuff from Canada.
People just have to help themselves.
See ya
Yup PAL is a far superior format to NTSC. It has much better definition and frame speed.

What the heck are you talking about? Mopatops is in English, which we all speak for the most part in American and Canada.
As long as its not in that strange cockney 'Snatch movie' gibberish it's perfectly understandable. Sure the British English has that kind of pippin poppy pants quality to it, but that's signature UK. I would hate if American productions got dubbed in 'UK English' or vice versa.
Erm Cory - Moppatop DOES NOT speak in signature English which you would typically class as a Central London one (not East London - a cockney). Moppatop speaks in a Birmingham accent which is very different and regional so would be harder to understand. There's not a massive difference between Brummie accents and Liverpudlian ones (for people from Liverpool) so just think Ringo Star. In fact he voices Thomas The Tank Engine but i think his accent was cleared up a lot as he did more shows.

Isnt Mopatop shown all over the UK, and parts of Europe?Wonder why the choice to go with that accent...itd be like going with a South Whales accent.
Second, as far as I know I understood what he was saying on the 4 episodes. Sure he soudned kind of Dopey, but I thoguht that was the character.
Anyways, are we talking about accents? As it was English to me.
I mean in the US we have Californese Janice like speach, Fargo Yaw dontcha Know talk, New York, Bawwwstonian, Southern I recon, New Orleans I gar-awn-teee, etc etc yet I understand them all.
Yup he sounds kinda dopey and that is the character but it's easier to achieve a dopier voice using a regional accent because they speak slower than we (Londoners) do. Maybe you guys could understand it in the states but typically in TV when a UK show is aired in the states they always prefer to use very easy to understand London accents so it's more of a political thing.

In the Neteherlands is it shown too, but synchronized with a dutch voice!!!!:(:(:(
It`s not as funny as sesame street, but the muppets that are used are excellent. I hope that the REAL voices are ok...

The Puppeteer of Mopatop (Mak Wilson) said that he was stuck for a long time trying to find out what kind of voice to use for him.
He says the voice kept changing, And then he settled on his own Birmingham accent, But a bit gentler.
Because nothing is ever too much for Mopatop, And he can handle everything. He is always ready to help people.
So thats why he has that voice...
Cory, Im from East London.
And i am Cockney !
We dont say "Pip Pop" and all that stuff no more, Its just stereotypes.
Lots of customers in Mopatops Shop do have lots of different accents tho.
East London, Welsh, Scottish etc...
And i should say a Welsh accent and Liverpudlian are very different, Sometimes i cant understand Welsh people...
Well most of the time - LOL

Yeah, that's the rough equivallent of us Bostonians saying, "I pahk the cah in Hahvahd Yahd..." I have a female instructor with a British accent (a soft one, kinda like..and I'm only using this as an example..Jane from the Disney Tarzan film).
I don't care if theey all speak in very harsh, thick dialects or anything. It's just more intelegable than those accursed Teletubbies and their, "Eh oh. Gah Gah. buh buh," crud!

I thought cockney was like that really hard to understand stuff they use in the Guy Ritchie films or th emovie Trainspotting...kind of like if I was to go to Scottland or Ireland...its English, but *very* regional.
Then again people under 25 hear say 'dude thats siiick! tight! h*lla no way!'
Hehe, that was just a bad joke. Then again if people see GMC they might think all Londoners say "Oh not at tall, not at tall Jeeves...I was just fancying myself a pot of tea you see, carry on!"
Yeah, I think US broadcasters
prefer 'Jane from Disney's Tarzan' light British Accents...though as long as I can undertsaand it its ok.
Btw, LOL at Dr Tooth...that was a pretty good JFK impersonation!

Yeah. it's a pretty big Boston Joke. In fact, only like blue collar workers and sports fans (and comedian Steve Sweeny) have that kinda accent, that I know of.
I mean, I could soun' like dat if I wanned to, but I do not!
I trained myself to talk prutty sophisticutted, so thur you huve it. Just kidding.
I mean, some people aren't aware of how many dialects and accents a country can have. I mean, saying all British people talk like cast members of Mary Poppins is the rough equivilant of them saying that US citizens have southern accents.
Though, between yoiu and me, I do pretty good impersonations of certain accents. My Liverpoodlien Beatle impressions make some of my fellow students laugh.. hopefully WITH me, not at!

I just watched the four Mopatop episodes on that web site. They're great!
I love how Princess Lulabelle is Shaky Sanchez.
And if I'm not mistaken, the "Rude Dude" is Tosh Fraggle's pet beast, and the opera star "Singalotti" is the Blustering Bellowpane Monster that blows Boober's lucky hat off. Feel free to correct me on these.

Indeed, sadly Mopatop is a treasure the majority of us arent able to enjoy. Mopatop shop is almost like a modern day Fraggle hole...somehow able to incorporate characters from Classic TMS and Fraggle Rock with ease.

This is where it gets confusing - not all Cockney's speak Cockney. To be a 'Cockney' you have to have been born within the sound of 'Bow Bells' - they are like these famous bells that would ring out over East London. However, London's quite exclusive now, the property prices have gone up so not everyones ahem .... 'common'. There's plenty of posh speaking high flying cockneys around. Technically my mums a cockney, but neither her or me really speak like it - although we do like Pie & Mash, Seafood .... but not mushy pea's !

Is anyone here a fan of Moosey Mouse?
Moosey is one of the mice from Muppet Christmas Carol, with a yellow sweater on. He lives above the shop with his parents, and in every episode he has a little adventure of his own, usually unnoticed by Mopatop, Puppyduck, and the customers. He's always there to check things out whenever something's happening, or to find something for his parents... and I just LOVE him!!! :D
