View Full Version : Custom Master Replicas Outfits - Ideas Wanted
So i was speaking to someone who is great at making costumes and accessories in the collectable doll world, and showed them the Master Replicas Muppets, and she was impressed. When i said i didn't think they would be selling outfits for them she expressed an interest in doing something independantly and told me to ask if there is any interest in her offering up some custom costumes to collectors. She was thinking specifically of Piggy & Gonzo, but also any of the others if there was enough call for it. There would be some profit involved for all the time and materials but i doubt it'd be anything too outrageous as she does it more for fun.
My own thought was maybe if people suggest the most desired clothes they'd like for these, and if its do-able she could make one and show photos of it on the poser, and then if enough people want one she could then replicate that and do a small run of them. She can also do hats, gloves etc.
Anyway if people have any initial interest then just post in here, and if people have any costume ideas then suggest them and point her towards a hi-res example if possible. Obviously nothings definite, nobodys committed.

I would like to see a trenchcoat and fedora hat for Kermit. Here's a good picture of him in a trenchcoat:
Kermit in Coat (http://cache.viewimages.com/xc/3139300.jpg?v=1&c=ViewImages&k=2&d=BEDFE2929D4DA7650CC87639797CB603A55A1E4F32AD3138 )
You can't really see the hat in this one, but I'm sure there are other pictures available where you can see it.

I would be interested in alternative clothes for gonzo as well, such as his chili pepper suit and vest clothes. Can your friend make a dirth vader helmet to fit Gonzo, along with the rest of the outfit.

I would love to see Gonzo in a nice shirt vest and tie. Maybe his stunt outfit for the great Gonzo. Kermit would be nice for his trenchcoat and hat.

Yea, alternatives for Gonzo & Piggy would be Great! Like replicas of their classic costumes/formal wear. I agree with Was Once Ernie....Kermit having his reporter costume would be Awesome.

Hi,
Great idea.
I would like to see a black suit and top hat for Kermit. And also a white suit, like he wears on the cover of one of the old playhouse videos.
Chris
Thanks for the suggestions guys, i shall put all this to her and report back if i hear of anything.
Seems like "Reporter Kermit" and "Chilli Pepper Gonzo" are favorites along with formal wear. I think Dirth Vader might be a bit out of the question since you'd need to mold the helmet.
Any favorite dresses for Piggy? I know she was most interested in doing stuff for her.

Do you think it would be kinda gimmicky but fun to all post seasonal pics for each month, all of us here that has collected the replicas like to take pics and its a funny way of still admiring the Muppets...imagine Halloween....just a silly thought!

Piggy.. we'd almost have to wait and see how she turns out and what she'll be dressed in already, but a pigs in space costume would be great i think :)
also, for Gonzo.. we need his cannon ball costume :)

Quick, someone find Polly Smith's phone number.
It's a big shame Master Replicas couldn't get Polly to design outfits for them to sell officially. Surely there'd be a market in them if they sent details of the outfits with the replicas, like a catalogue flyer. I know its not like they'd sell more than 500 but people pay enough for designer label clothes so there'd likely be a big mark up for anything official - especially if it was in limited quantities.

I like that outfit, too. Wasn't it also similar to what he wore in The Great Muppet Caper, which would be nice. I'd also like to see his outfit for stunts (the cape and tights). Oh, and TMM "Prince of Plunger" costume for Gonzo would be cute.
Obviously it'd be nice to have Reporter Kermit costume. What else was there? The tuxedo he wore in TGMC and Miss Piggy's dress from the dance scene as "Piggy Holliday" (Ha!) would be a nice matching outfit.
Kermit and Fozzie as TGMC "Pizza Twins" would be fun, but probably not too useful.
I suppose the matching outfits for Manhattan Melodies would be nice. If started now, as each one comes out the outfit could be offered up.
As far as Miss Piggy--I think if anything were designed new that looked fashionable for her would go over well with us! Ha ha. Maybe even her "reporter Piggy" from Muppets From Space?

LOL, that would be awesome! Weren't they up for variants with Palisades at one point? It woulda been cool to see their "father" as well.
You get my vote for a reporter coat & hat for Kermit, along with the checked suit for Gonzo, sweater vest too.
I would also be great to see Kermit & Gonzo in their MCC getups. I've always loved that look, and it'd be perfect for Christmas!

Anybody got good photo reference of the helmet? I had visions of it being all black and enclosed, but looking at a poster image, it appears to be just like a type of rain hat(face and nose exposed) Muppet wikia has a picture but it looks more like a toy?
As a mater of interest, how many people would buy the helmet in conjunction with getting the rest of the outfit from Luke's source?
And would anybody be willing to make the helmet and a saber if there was enough interest?:wisdom:

The trenchcoat and hat for Kermit is a must. I'd also love to see Gonzo's Muppet Movie outfit; jeans, shirt and wastecoat.

thanks, Telly.Your last picture is the same one that is on muppet wiki.so when you say it is from the DVD, do you mean pictures on the box jacket or scenes taken from the DVD itself? It doesnt look real to me because of the red background and it looks more like a sculpture of Gonzo, than footage.Looks like there wont be enough demand for somebody to make it.

It's caps from the episode. The red background is from when he appeared in the back window-thingy on the SwinTrek in Pigs In Space. It's the Mark Hamill episode.

I'd love to see a silky, or velvety dress for piggy. Like the one she wears in the apple poster in the internet. I'll try and find the pic later.

Veterinarian’s Hospital Outfits
Tux as in Happy Feet for Kermit
Muppet Caper Outfits for Gonzo / Kermit / Fozzie and Piggy (including the jailbreak scene)
Fantastic Miss Piggy Show outfits
Muppet Movie outfits Gonzo / Kermit and Piggy Fantasy
Pigs in Space
Banjo for Kermit
Kermit's Trench / Hat and Microphone
I could go on but these are a few that come to mind. The most important thing I think is the accessories that make the outfit's that we may not have had before.
I love the idea of a clothing range, in the same way as Franklin Mint do for their Dress up dolls.
A wardrobe and hangers would be good, in brown with the star on the front like the dressing rooms of the characters in the style of the trunks that Franklin Mint make:
