Hello again to all~I am still on the search for the correct FULL version of Muppet Family Christmas and am begging for your help. It seems the United Kingdon version is the closest to be full, but the system plays different than that of our VCR's (there's plays in what is called P A L). If anyone has the correct version from the ABC airing or the Nickelodeon version I would be interested. I have already mailed a letter to Brian Henson at the company begging them to re-release the correct version so maybe if all of us that would like the movie would write we could possibly convince them that it would be worth it seal the rights to reproduce it on video???? Couldn't hurt~

As I said somewhere in the previous thread, drop me a line - I can get a conversion of the UK release done for you.

Thank you so much! I have not yet purchased one of the UK versions since I did not know how much it would cost to convert it--do you know approx. how much it runs and where it can be done at? Thanks bunches!:D

Well, if you get it done commercially it probably won't be cheap, plus any respectable facilities house is likely to refuse to handle something for which you don't own the copyright.

However, I (or rather, my brother) have the kit to do a conversion, so it's effectively free :-) Drop me an email, and we can set this up!

HI all,

I am new here and was actually drawn here by accident. It was only through an area of this site that I realized that the version of A Muppet Family Christmas on my Christmas list is not the fully version and that I would be very disappointed to get it and find this out then. So, I too am searching for an unedited version of this special.

I am lucky though, in that I live in Canada and, most years, YTV broadcasts it in its entirety. To me, this seems easier than purchasing a PAL version and converting it (especially if the Media center that I know can do it won't due to copyrights).

Do you all think that this is the most sensible solution? Those of you who were looking and have chosen to by a PAL version and convert, how much trouble was it?

Thanks for any help you can offer:)

It is true that YTV plays it every year - nearly unedited. There is one scene missing, which I'm getting in the near future, so I don't really know exactly what is missing! I actually think that the one scene that is missing from YTV is missing from the UK PAL release anyway. So, if you seek this in North America, a friendly canuck is good route to go. YTV's Christmas schedule will probably be out in a couple of weeks, and we'll be able to tell if it is on again this year.

In the meantime, you can check out most of the missing scenes at my website :

Hi there, I'm new around here... I was really hoping that when I bought the new MFC dvd it would feature the scenes cut from the vhs release, but was extremely dissapointed to find out that they weren't. :( i know that the PAL has them, the vhs version ... has there been a dvd release with the scenes as well? if anyone has/knows where i can buy a copy, it'd be awesome... i have the original uncut version taped from when it first aired, but as you can probably guess, its extremely worn out. i'd appreciate any info you could give me...
and, sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum section, i was debating between this one and the Wanted one. thanks :)

Hmm yeah I already knew which scenes were cut, I have the original aired version on an old tape i recorded back when it came out on tv... I thought I'd read somewhere that they had released a DVD in europe or canada or something that included the omitted scenes (with the exception of the hanging up the stockings one) ... thanx for your help, tho :)

Hi all!

I'm desperately seeking a copy of the Muppet Family Christmas special that includes all of the scenes that were cut out in the retail version.

What I ultimately want to do is make a DVD R of the full version of the special. For all of the scenes that are on both the unedited version and the DVD I'll take the footage from the higher quality DVD. For the scenes that are only on the VHS copy, I'll use that copy.

In the end I hope to have a finished product that is of higher quality than the VHS tapes floating arround (except for the recovered parts).

Does this sound reasonable to anyone who has played arround with video conversion/dvd recording?

Could anyone make me a copy of the unedited Muppet Family Christmas special so i can try this Frankenstein experiment?

I'd be willing to send money Via Paypall or Money Order to cover the costs of tape, shipping, and effort.

Thanks,
Neil

I am lucky to still possess the same copy from TV from my childhood, but it is of course VHS and my family in Memphis has it (I'm in Indiana) and we don't have an extra VCR for copying. Sorry. I know how you feel- I have nightmares about how I'd feel if something happened to it.

I have a copy - in fact i have two. I have the original recording we taped back in the 80's and a more recent copy we taped (after discovering that the commercial copy had been so extensively edited) now that we have cable and access to YTV (which shows it every year).

I'm also doubly VCR endowed. So I would be willing to make a copy if, as you said, you paid for shipping and the blank tape.

Kamit,
That would be great. Can you drop me a line at my yahoo address so I can get your mailing address? It would be nice if you could copy me the least staticky version or if they both look good the older one. I'm guessing our video systems are the same? (in Europe they use some other kind)

I believe the version YTV airs of this is edited, unless you taped a broadcast from 10 or more years ago. For the complete, original version you need a tape of the ABC Broadcast in the 1980s I think.

kamit,

PLEASE HELP -

My wife loved this tv special and has the album, cassette, and cd. She has written the Hensen company twice over the years requesting the release of this show to no avail. To complicate matters, I was diagnoised with ALS (http://www.mdausa.org/disease/als.html) 2 years ago. ALS has no cure and most die within 5 years. Mine has progressed so rapidly, I have lost the use of my hands, arms, legs, and speech. I communicate with a head mouse and voice box. Please email me if you can help and if you accept Paypal. I would like to give this as a christmas present as this may be my last.

Thank you,

I have the "Muppet Family Christmas" on VHS taped from TV, totally unedited from the 80's. I checked the FAQ and it has all the deleted scenes mentioned, even commercials for M&M's and Osh Kosh! Hey guys!

I just finished working on the first part of my fan-made uncut MFC. I used my camera to film the Beuna Vista Video (this means there are no fades to black until "Home For The Holidays" to the Tree Lighting). The only bad things are okay picture and low sound (not that low, just a little). Does anybody want to trade?

Whatever
12-04-2003, 08:06 PM
I would love to, but I don't really have anything to trade. All I had was LOL the uncut MFC, and it got lost. So I'm getting the cut DVD version for Christmas, and my mom would probably get upset if I got both versions LOL.

Hey everyone,
I'm Brian, and I just stumbled across Muppet Central looking for some Muppet Christmas pictures for my desktop. I'm 19 years old, and have always loved Muppet holiday specials, especially the Muppet Family Christmas. I always thought there was something missing from my store-bought copy, but I never realized until now how much was cut out. I need to see it! I'm in NJ, is anyone willing to make me a copy? Please, "Pass it On!" :excited:

PS- I realize how close Christmas is, so I'd be willing to wait until after the holiday to get a copy if any one wouldn't mind making me one. My email is wyou17@aol.com. HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!

I'd like to send out a very sincere apology. Many of you e-mailed me or posted on the thread here, in the weeks leading up to Christmas, asking for a copy of MFC.

With the exception I believe of camillachick, I didn't answer any of you back for which I'm really sorry. I bit off waaaaay more then I could chew over Christmas (I had this silly compulsion to make half my Christmas gifts, even though I was also working full time) and I just didn't get around to responding. :sympathy:

I would offer to make copies for next Christmas but I fear the same thing might happen (I get busy and it gets shoved down the priority list).

Again, I can't apologize enough. The last place in all the many fandoms I want a bad reputation is among Muppet fans. :sympathy:

What year is your version from?

i taped mine in early 2000. but there are three faults with the recording, 1) it is in PAL format. 2) Throughout the program there is a small mickey mouse logo in the top right hand corner. 3) And near the end when piggy kisses kermit under the mistletoe in cuts out for 2 seconds.

Are you positive it's uncut? Are all of these scenes there?

The snowman musical and comedy number with Fozzie is completely gone. They sing "Sleigh Ride" in the original version. Rowlf begins the song by playing "Sleigh Ride" on Emily Bear's out-of-tune piano. Rowlf says he "loves out-of-tune pianos" while Sprocket watches him play. Fozzie, the Snowman, and penguins sing outside. This is a very abrupt and obvious edit.

The Muppet Babies film "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" is removed. The film begins and Animal immediately bursts through the screen. Included in the broadcast version of the film are the baby versions of Piggy, Kermit, Fozzie, Rowlf, Scooter, Fozzie, and Gonzo. This is another clear edit that something is missing. Doc comments that the film was fun when there was nothing for him to see other than a one second shot of Baby Piggy and Animal immediately bursting through the screen!

Miss Piggy and the Muppets singing "Home for the Holidays" is not shown when she arrives at the farmhouse. Miss Piggy falling on the icy patch is also removed. When Kermit mentions that Miss Piggy always likes to make an entrance, the video release cuts immediately to the beginning of the Carol Sing Medley.

"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day" are edited out during the Carol Sing Medley.

Emily Bear hangs Fozzie's stocking underneath the fire. Fozzie mentions that he's a grown bear alluding to the fact he doesn't need it anymore. When Emily reaches to take it down, Fozzie decides it's ok to leave it up. This entire scene is removed. This occurs right before Kermit gives Miss Piggy a mink for Christmas.

I'm sorry if I seem to be too picky, but I have been looking for the original for years. I AM DEFINITELY INTERESTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
I am a long time reader of this forum, but this is my first post.

I know from reading this site that this is a very popular request, and if there is an official thread for movie requests, please direct me to it.

If there isn't, I would like to ask someone to help me who has an original, uncut version of this classic. I'm afraid I do not have that much to offer in trade, for all the things I have are not rare, and are most likely owned by everybody. I would pay for the tape, dvd, or cd for the copy, as well as all the postage. I hope someone can help me out, and I also hope that I am doing this right, and not breaching some sort of forum rule.

I thank you for your time, and I hope everyone has a great holiday season!

Hey guys, I tried last year to no avail, but this year it has a bit more meaning. Now that my Niece is old enough to really get into the Muppets, I was telling her about how Muppet Family Christmas was one of my favorite christmas movies. I have the original complete with commercials by Osh Kosh B'Gosh, but I am unable to make copies. Last year I made copies for several members, it got a little out of hand with all the requests, but they may be able to make copies for you. Unfortunately, I don't remember everyone I made copies for, but even if I did, I wouldn't just give their names out, it's up to them if they want to come to you. So I guess what I'm saying is; people here do have it, but I don't know if they have the opportunities to copy it.

Not much luck there, unless someone is willing to make a DVD for you. Due to copyright issues with some of the songs used in the special Muppet Family Christmas was never released uncut on any video or DVD format. The only way to see the special uncut would be to have someone play it on a syndicated network, since the special can be aired uncut for the rest of its known existence. There is a whole site dedicated to the cuts: http://www.geocities.com/muppetchristmas/mfccuts.html

Hope that helps!

My favorite scene is when the Muppets, Fraggles, and Sesame Street puppets all join togher to sing a Medelly of Christmas Songs and even Jim Henson himeself makes a Cameo. A must have peice for the muppet collector:)

so I any one Want to make an Offer contact me.

Untill I joined MC I had never even heard of "Fraggle Rock", let alone seen it!
And I still have yet to see it!:o This little get together being addressed here seems like the perfect way to get introduced. Has it been bought yet? None of the stores around here sell anything but Elmo anymore.

I was wondering if anybody had the original Muppet Family Christmas on DVD that was uncut. I know it's very hard to come by, but I was hoping that someone may have it and would be willing to part with it. My brother and I have been searching for two years now for it and have been unable to find it so far. Please let me know if someone out there has one or if you may know where to find it! Thank you!

Muppet Family Christmas was never released uncut on DVD.

However, I have an uncut, unedited version that aired on TV many years ago that I have put on DVD.

You can contact me at: KermiClownVideos@aol.com

Hi, welcome to the forum!

You will probably have the best shot by contacting tthe member known as Kermie Clown; he's got just about everything! Although, I don't know if he'll take money for it...

Best of luck!

Or you can look at Muppet specials free for everyone thread (http://forum.muppetcentral.com/showthread.php?t=35521) and get the special this way and not line some scumbags pockets. There is essentially no value in a DVD-R copy, once it is sold the seller burns another copy (and blank DVD's cost no more than 50 cents). Aside from being unscrupulous it is also illegal and against forum regulations to sell DVD-R copies.

I was all set to order the Muppet Family Christmas DVD off Amazon.com when I read the reviews saying it was edited! I'm so upset. My mother had our only copy taped off the TV when I was little, we used to watch it every year, and when she moved she lost it (along with all the other Christmas specials of the 80's). And to top it all off, my fiance has never seen it! I can't possibly marry a man who has never seen the Muppet Family Christmas! If anyone at all has an unedited copy they are willing to part with I will do anything! VHS is fine. Commercials are fine (and somewhat preferred).

Please help!

Hi All - I am wondering if anyone knows if the Christmas special where Fozzy's mom is supposed to go to the tropics for Christmas but does not go because of a snow storm and Fozzy and Friends show up - It's got all the characters from Muppets, Sesame Street and the Fraggles! We taped it from the tv years ago and our copy is getting really bad. Did they ever put it out on Video or DVD? They need to! My son is 20 and still wants to watch it every Christmas. I'd love to get it for my Grandson.

Hi and welcome to the forums. Actually, A Muppet Family Christmas (or MFC for short) was released commercially both on VHS and DVD. The thing is that both releases were heavily edited, so if you purchased either one it would lead to a disappointing viewing. However, there are people here who have full unedited copies and are reputable names among the community when it comes to tape trading. Would recommend you contact fellow forum member KermiClown to see if he can help. Enjoy and have a good time exploring the rest of the forums. :batty: :search:
