I was the monster puppet.

Another guy did the pimple-faced kid in the restaurant.

Sadly, I started to lose the voice after about 6 takes so his voice changes a bit later on in the sketch. I plan to loop it later.

I have a natural tenor to my voice that is close to Jim's.

I had hoped at a chance to show this to the folks at the Muppet Auditions in LA, but I got flushed in the first cut.

Oh well... you rolls the dice and you takes your chances. They didn't like the look of me, I guess. Which is all the impression they could have gotten in a less-than-two-minute cattle call with 9 other folks.

C'est la vie!

I've been performing the same puppet character for two years now, and I STILL have that exact same problem!

I'm working on a TV show called Transylvania Television with these puppets and others.

The Frankenstein character IS the monster created by Froedric Frankentsein and has long outlived his creator. Over the years, being called simply "the creature" got on his nerves so he adopted the name Dwayne. Dwayne Frankenstein.

The Burger Czar sketch will be included in the pilot episode of TVTV (with new voice-over to take care of the bad shift).

Thanks for all the positive words guys! :)

-Gordon

P.S. The show will start as a local thing on the CW affilliate here in Minneapolis, but you can feel free to join the TVTV FAN CLUB and become one of Count LeShoc's Midnight Zombie Legion! Only $13.00!

*blush*!!

Thanks again guys! I am really glad you enjoyed it!

I'm trying to get the 12 minute Transylvania Television promo reel up n the web, but I'm a total slacke when it comes to web technology so I have to rely on somebody else for that. As soon as it's up, I'll post here. I'm very proud of it.

Where did the star trek puppets come from I like there style. they remind me of the whatnot muppets.

All those puppets were based off the same pattern. The two redshirts were puppets built by Andy Hayward and the Kirk & Spock puppets were built by me.

Andy supplied me with the pattern (its one of his standard patterns he uses and he was gracious enough to let me copy it).

The Kirk puppet is being re-used for Transylvania Television as the character Ray Soleil... an American TV executive who comes to work for the station.

The Spock puppet is being re-used in a Godzilla parody as one of the Monster Zero alien controllers.

I have another script for a Star Trek parody, but I have to get a lot of other stuff done for the pilot show first! :)

We already have a local sponsor. The largest comic retailer in the 5 state area is a buddy of mine. He's already pledged to buy my pilot airtime for me and has promised to help me find the right kind of advertising dollars to keep our show on the air. Once we have the pilot in the can, we can really concentrate on the hard sell... along with showing businesses how puppets can be effective sales tools just like Jim Henson did back in the 1960's.

Well, (to paraphrase Indiana Jones) That's the trick, isn't it?

We've got a really savvy guy working that angle for us so I'm moving ahead with confidence.

If all else fails, we'll have a pilot episode that will be aired a minimum of once on local TV with plenty of advertising in the "fan geek" community, so it should be able to be parlayed into a bigger and better result than just an airing.

BorkBork,

Thank you for the compliment! :)

Growing up in the 1970's, I (like many other kids) was really into the Muppets. I started to impersonate Kermit and Rowlf by singing along with the Muppet Movie soundtrack. Picking them up in song actually helped me learn their range. After that, spoken words were fairly easy. As I got older and my voice leveled out, I found that I had picked up many of the inflections that Jim Henson used when he spoke (and naturally came out when he did his Muppet characters). Strangely enough, I do a better impersonation of Jim Henson than I do of Kermit or Rowlf or Hogthrob or Bebopdediddlydog Bop!
