Scooter, we hardly KNOW YA!

In Muppet Babies, Scooter was a nerd. Like Velma Dinkley from Scooby Doo. But, when he got old enough to be a Go'fer, he was seen dancing to hip music, tricking others, bribeing, and in the Muppet Movie, said he can't wait to get his board out there.
Scooter along with Shakey Shanchez, and Nigel the Conductor, along with the Frackles, seemed to help shape and name the Fraggles... So, Scooter can be one of the first 'FRAGGLE' like being.
So, I'm probably looking into this to much... >.>;

Might have been in the scene at the studios, when they're getting the set built. It's either a sign that says 'The Movie' or the black and white clapper board: 'The Muppet Movie, Scene 1, Take 1.'

And yeah, a few times we've asked if Scooter might be part Fraggle. The first-part-of-season-1 Gobo looked a bit like him.

You know, I'm glad someone brought up the subject of Scooter and what we know...we really know very little about him. Does he have a girlfriend? A history? A future? What makes him tick? I'm pretty sure he's not a Fraggle...but what is he? I always figured he was a human/Muppet...but who knows?

I use to wonder all the time about what Scooter was suppose to be back when I was really young and watched Muppet Babies. I was actually more curious about his species than Gonzo's. Probably because it never was implied in any way. i used to think he looked like a bug. Maybe he is just a non-descript creature.

Well, depends on whether or not Scooter and J.P. Grosse are actually related by blood. J.P. could have married someone in Scooter's family (though why any woman would want to marry a man like J.P. is beyond me), or maybe J.P. was a stepbrother to one of Scooter's parents, or something.

I can't believe that no one's mentioned that semi-famous, off-camera exchange between Richard/Scooter and Jim/Kermit. You know, the one where Kermit asks Scooter what the heck he is, and Scooter replies that his mother was a parakeet but they didn't know about his father, because it was during the war?

Personally I place Scooter in the "what-not" category; he's just as "human" as Floyd, Zoot, Nigel, Hilda or any of the other What-not looking Muppets on the show.

Yeah... I agree with Kim, he's mostly a Whatnot humanoid character. Of course, they have used the fact that he's a "go-fer" as a joke to denote his species, though jokingly only.
And as for his life's loves... Well, guess it's cause we've taken her into the family... But I'm pretty much attached to the notion that his current girlfriend is one Sara Vines known as ReneeLouvier, and his family origins were captured in her Sadie's Stories series of fanfics.

And Erin... J.P.'s loaded with money, which would explain why any woman would marry him... Though it'd be a marriage made in the Creature Workshop, not one of those other two places.

I agree that Scooter is a humanoid, since his uncle is clearly human. As a side-note to that opinion- supposing he WAS part Fraggle... would that make him a Fruman? or a Haggle? ...Sorry, just my insanity kicking in...

And on yet another side-note, while it is true that several members of MC's fanfic community have accepted Sara as Scooter's girlfriend, not everyone has, and I think it's important that we bear that in mind, especially outside of the fanfic section- the lines of what we create and what the company creates can sometimes be easily blurred.

Wouldn't he be seen as more of a Fragglish silly creature? Or a silly creature-sized Fragglelike guy? At any rate, the rest of the guys down in the Rock would probably be puzzled as to why he doesn't have a Fraggle tail, if he were half-human half-Fraggle.

Although I created that storyline, I must agree with Lisa on one point:

I agree. My personal opinion is that Scooter is currently single and not looking for anybody at the moment. He's content in his bachelorhood.

1. The RHLC. 'Nuff said.

2. The episode of the Muppet Show in which Lynda Carter was a guest. During the musical number 'Orange Colored Sky,' after Scooter comes crashing onto the scene as Super Scooter, Lynda picks him up and gives him a kiss on the nose. (I thought that was sweet.)

Beauregard clearly has fur....
Mildred is ... Mildred.
Lewis, Beaker, and Bunsen have noses, ears, and normal looking mouthes.. Scooter has a permanate grin, like almost all Fraggles have... It'd be funny if Scooter and Gobo where seperated at birth.

When the Muppets hosted The Tonight Show in the '70s, Kermit and Scooter were having a conversation with Leo Sayer. Kermit was asking Leo how he hides from all his adoring female fans.

Scooter pipes in with, "I wear a bag over my head!"
