I was at Toys R US awhile back and kept forgetting to post a thread. If i'm late, i'm sorry.

I was roaming around Toys R Us, and found a disply case with the countdown on it that counts days, hours, mins, secs and milisecs. And it was on like a metal floor pattern, cardboard box that said TOP secret. They're planning on released him in a limited quantity and i think selling him for $35-40

Apparently NO ONE except a VERY few of Elmo's best friends have seen it. And its suppossed to look amazing.

I found this site so everyone can take a look for themselves

http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=8001&e=sesstproduct&selcat=ss_stuff&pid=35910

I myself cant wait n see wat it looks like but with Fraggle Rock season 2 coming out, i may not have the extra money to buy an Elmo right away.... who knows.

Hey all you Elmo fans and haters out there. The 10th anniversary of Tickle Me Elmo is coming up in September. I found this out the other night when my family and I went to Toys R Us to get some diapers for Johnathan and to use Megan's Birthday Gift Card. In honor of the 10th anniversary of Tickle Me Elmo a new doll is coming out TMX (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000ETRE0Q/muppetcentral/). Look for a big rectangular box with a clock on it and Elmo's eyes. The clock is counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds till TMX will be released from the box. (insert Elmo smiley here)

AKA TMX Elmo. I'm curious. you can preorder it on Amazon (See www.muppetcentral.com's homepage).

The "preview video" doesn't show anything, but is kind of funny, it's at the link provided in the last post.

Wow when I first made the accidental duplicate post I got nowhere, then when I brought attention to it by apologizing in the Feedback section and in the SS Merchandise section it got everyone jumping (extra to those who saw today's ep of SS) on the bandwagon. NINE BATTERIES has Duracell decided to sponsor PBS??? this is nuts. If I buy this monstrosity for Megan it better do something useful. Hey I have an idea How about for video only an Elmo's world segment on Potty Training. Parents would love it, and so would the kids. Want to talk to a potty?

DannyRWW
08-31-2006, 09:39 AM
There was a joke in one of the parenting magazines about a tinkle me Elmo that would teach kids how to use the potty. :) seriously though I bought the elmo potty training video and liked it.

You mean there is one??? I have to get it if anyone can get my 4-year-old girl Megan potty trained it's Elmo.

If it doesn't work I'm putting a cork in her, well you know where, and seeing how that works.

Elmo X the Muslum Elmo

MuppetMarc
09-03-2006, 03:43 PM
I was four when my friend got one. I don't think either of us watched sesame street (I know I'm ashamed of myself), but because it was the hotest (is that how you spell it?) toy, his mother bought him one.
For all the Simpsons fans, there is an episode where Moe is playing with Maggie and he picks up a tickle me elmo that says "no means no for elmo" and then slaps him. That's one of my favorite episodes.

Lovingly yours,

TMX is a type of drug that instead of making your eyes red, it makes your whole body red. Elmo's such a egotistical maniac. That I guess he thought that he could take it. But he died 5 minues later and they had him stuffed. Which were his last wishes, were to be stuffed and mounted in the living room(actually, it was to be buried in a shallow grave so that he could rise from the dead and grab the souls of the Teletubbies. But, it's better that he was stuffed) That Elmo meat was kinda tasty, I mean, uh.......he was fun to hang out at the food court with :-D

Teheman, I think you went a little too far there. Your suggestion that Elmo be eaten was just plain macabre, and not funny at all. Also drug references are not something that belongs here, unless of course it is a reference to the Dinosaurs ep which spoke against drugs, seriously though, I think you should rethink your post.

Speakin of robot, I was roamin about in Wal-Mart and saw a promo for it. I think it may be floatin around online somwhere. We gotta get ahold of it. It has better Likeness, as what the promo showed.

Now, the promo didn't show a full version. But when i did see was kids laughing, and Elmos arms waving in the way of the camera, his eyes poping from the right hand corner, and then when a child was on his back kickin feet, Elmo;s feet were kicking too.

This could be a really giggly Elmo. I'm really considering it for my own collection actually. And I have a newphew who is turning 1 sat (not today), so maybe i'll pick one up for christmas for him.

P.S. The quote on the robot comment was pretty much saying that, judging by what could be a new feature, he also kicks his legs.

I laughed when he fell over and got back up! Thats amazing!

Short on cash to spend, i'm also leaning toward a Kermit Replica, but i just may look into TMX soon.

I hope they make a TMX Cookie Monster, like they made a tickle me Cookie Monster a few months (if i'm wrong, sorry) after they made Tickle me Elmo. I got one today at Toys R US.

People were buying that doll left and right. Every customer at the cash register had at least one. Someone had 3!

When I got to the store around 11:30, an hour and a half after the store opened, there were only 2 left.

But it's a cool package, I haven't opened mine to give to my daughter yet. Even the box has an Elmo sound.

They were playing with it and showed what the doll does and it is incredible. I could not stop laughing. It was the funniest toy ever. It's gonna be a hot item for Christmas this year. Probably more so that the first edition. This is something that anyone who needs cheering up should have. If I were having a bad day, one push off this toy would put me in stitches. I agree with you 150%! It saddens me also. Why can't everyone buy them for the price they should be sold at? I hope that the retail stores won't start raising the prices like this. All children should have the opportunity to have one. To spend $300 for a toy like this, or anything over $30, is insane.

BEAR
09-19-2006, 06:11 PM
Wow, Snowth! That's crazy. I came up with an idea earlier today based on what I remembered from the original Tickle Me Elmo drama. Since shopping in the stores for this thing would be so crazy, wouldn't the easiest and less stressful option be to just order the toy online? Then I realized now that it might not be so easy because online retailers are selling them for way more than they should be. It's frustrating.

BEAR
09-19-2006, 06:16 PM
But is that really necessary? Isn't it more important for the children to get to have these wonderful toys instead of using the product for "ransom money". Don't tell me you would have the nerve to turn around and resell it for an obsene amount of money for your own profit. I'm not trying to point fingers and if it looks like it I am really sorry, I just can't believe there are people that would do such a selfish thing.

Ilikemuppets
09-19-2006, 06:17 PM
I agree, Forget all this over pricing stuff, children should be able to just play with, enjoy and fun with a toy. I think adults kind of ruin that a little. I maen at 125$, come on. Your gonna have to tell youe children that they shouldn't play whit it and it's not a toy with prices like that.

What has truly become of the chrismas season, and is Elmo really to blame, or is it greed?

It's a crime is what it is and it's disgusting! That may be the one thing I really don't like about ebay. It's one thing in about 30 years to auction off the toy as a special classic collectors item, but when it has barely hit the stores yet. It's wrong!

They actually grew to like the TMX tonight...when i first saw him in the first actions he made, i was like "this is what it did then" then he flew down into his doubled over postion, hitting me in the face... did i mention i was holding it... *just kidding*... wouldn't it be funny if someone actually did hold it in their palm, then activated it, not knowing what it did???

Yeah, I know.

I wanted to read the whole page to see whether they were being auctioned for charity or not because some of them are and I can support that. However, when it is merely for personal profit, that is where I have the problem. I can't believe those prices.

I wish I could do something like buy a bunch of TMX's and resell them for a discounted price just to go against what these jerks are doing and then the kids of the world could have a nice toy without their parents having to go bankrupt.

I second that IlikeMuppets, great idea Bear!!

I got one today, but only just. About an hour later they were all sold out. It was really great to see that everyone only got one doll though. Guess the snipers stayed away from my Wal*Mart, good!

I don't have any kids yet, but if we ever do, I'm sure the little bugger will just LOVE Elmo (I don't especially care for him, but I'm not blind to his appeal for the younger kids and Sesame enthusiasts), so I want them to have that toy.

Eh, i can see alot of people are upset. But in the collector's point of view... this WILL be a rare toy once Christmas comes along. I bought one of the last 6, my mother bought two. One for my newphew... I bought him a little giggle ball with Elmo and Cookie's face on either side, i think hes going to like it... probably not as much as me though lol.

Anyway... the other one she bought was to make the money back. I'm planning to get one too, and make double, only to look at it as i got mine for free. I'm planning on going back to Wal-Mart when i can, and buy one so that i may resell it when theres none on the shelves in Dec. I'll have a cheal price, but if it gets high... i won't mind... thats out of my control really. I'll def start it at its reg price though, not $5,000,000.

I honestly don't think you can really blame the people for the price getting higher. THats the price they wanted to pay. I do think its crazy for them to start out at an alarming price, but if they start it low and it gets high, thats not their fault.

So, if i start it at its reg price, am i going to look like a bad guy around here?

I dont mean to come across as rude and correct me if I'm wrong, but doesnt being a colector involve holding on to something for loge periods of time because you lve it, and mayye even passing it down to someone you love one day. because it is of inportance and value?

If not, or if there's more to it, I guess I have some things to learn about Collecting.

I think that as a promotional intro of the selling of the new TMX doll, stores that sell it should have someone in a walk around Elmo costume, while wearing a white T-shirt with the phrase "Tickle Me" written in bold black letters across the front and back of the shirt. Think of how much fun the girls and women would have with this, plus this is one type of fun thing that won't need batteries.

I can see it now, that it will be announced in the news that some people will be either held at gunpoint or killed just to get their hands on the hot new TMX Elmo doll. Several elderly people would be seriously injured as they have been run over by several hundred people, all running in anxious attempt to get the doll. Hundreds of stores will have millions of people crowding the stores before it opens just to get the doll. Remember history may begin to repeat itself, Again. Unless we take precautions and prevent the same things in the past from happening again.

Man...(shakes head)...

This is nuts! Kids should have a toy that they can have fun with. My opinions on Elmo personally are, well...I'll keep my mouth shut about that. However, when people are going absolutely crazy...BEYOND crazy on Ebay (and elsewhere) with prices for an Elmo doll...it's just sad, really.

From now until Christmas, parents will be paying outlandish prices for an Elmo that will eventually wind up forgotten in the corner of their room or in a bin at the Salvation Army (http://www.toughpigs.com/playingwithdolls04.htm). There are many of the original TME's out there that were once sold for $1800+ in 1997. Where are they now? They are being sold for a quarter on garage sales along with Furbys, Cabbage Patch dolls and other stuff the kids tire of.

I haven't seen this toy in person, but I did see the "Potty Training Elmo" at Wal Mart someone mentioned. Here's the link (http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-B9126-Potty-Elmo/dp/B00020V50M/sr=8-1/qid=1158800635/ref=pd_bbs_1/104-7286769-2203939?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games) (for whoever was looking for it).

Ten million dollars for a $40 toy... that's insane.

I say if you're a parent and want to find your kid something Henson related that will stand the test of time, nuture your child, and not be just another fad, try this (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000G6BLC4/muppetcentral/). You won't regret it.

just like Wal-mart and Target... they're making profit. Toys R Us's price is $39.99, where as Wal-Mart's is $34.88... Amazon.com has it for $100.... so even they are making profit. THey're getting them cheaper then you. So, really, its a buisness. If you want it, you have to buy it from the price its being sold at... if not... make yer own.

Wal-mart buys it from someone to sell for a cheap price... but they sell out. So thats why sellers buy from wal-mart to save what they can, for people who dont have a shot at getting there in time. Just like the store, people can buy items on ebay, BUT since theres only one item that the seller is selling, they "auction" it off to whoever wants it the most.

To me the problem isn't that there is a new Elmo doll. Its the fact that they over market this thing and attempt to make it into the "next big thing" for the holidays. Think about it...10 years ago the doll went big because of the mention on "The Rosie O'Donnel" show. She used to have a lot of Muppet merchandise on her hosting desk and would show it off often. This new Elmo doll isn't going to get as much buzz unless some celebrity claims they love it.

I also have a question about this version that still lingers from 10 years of pondering. How much value should be place on a specific toy? I'm not going into a gripe about the commercialism of the holidays, but rather the value the adults place on certain toys. Honestly, I don't think kids would care which doll they got during the holidays unless an adult (their parents, their friend's parents, relatives, etc.) really stress the importance of that specific Elmo doll. What's disappointing is that major media is already acting upon this story as if the product has hit sales gold. After a decade of wanting a Tickle Me Elmo, how many people that want one don't already have one? At least some version of Elmo resides in the homes of people that WANT an Elmo doll already, right?

One final rant...the function of this doll seems a bit off. It falls on the floor and slaps its knee and laughs? You'd think they'd push the tickle aspect farther, but the fact that you can totally let go of it makes me think its just a show piece, much like those singing snowmen and Santa decor dolls Hallmark releases every Christmas. Very much a preformance piece and not so much a toy. I question the longevity of play with this toy after the holiday season. I recall with the old Elmo dolls, many went on eBay because so many people bought them and grew tired of them. As parents can attest, the novelity of dolls that make sounds is short.

I wanted to add that my opinion of this doll has nothing to do with this being a Muppet doll. I think we're all fans on here and my feelings have little to do with the character, just the Elmo TMX doll as a toy. What do you think?

I went to the store to buy some DVDs in the used section and found Myster Science Theatre 3000 the Movie for $59.99. Thinking this was a mistake, maybe it was 5.99 (the movie was made in the early 90s) i had them check it at the register. Sure enough, the tag was right. Even they were shocked.

So, some stores will go anyrate, just as any person will, to sell something. But i think you're not getting the point that, they auction it. If a store were to auction something, it can very well go over its worth. And thats the buyers fault. I can put something for $1 and watch it go up on ebay, only because the buyers are willing to pay that. So in actuality, its not the sellers fault.
