Sorry you feel that way DF. I know how you feel because after a while there were times I didn't like buying stuff with knowing that my parents would see it but then I strated to see that it was my money and my dissension. There's sometimes that I go to a store that might have the DVD set that I want and then go to one of the guys or girls that I know to cheak me out. They never seem to give me a hard time. I'm just saying and not to try to get you to buy the set but that is what I do. But don't worry DF I still understand because there's times my parents don't like what I buy but oh well.

I don't know. I might not buy the set. I might be uncomfortable going into a store and have people see me buy a "Sesame Street" disk. Plus, I'm still stuck with my parents. They might not want to see that lying around. Heck, my dad is following me around even as we speak and I can't watch the 'Jelmo' episode. I mean, not that I'm trying to dis the box set or anything. I'm sure it's a great collection. It's just that purchasing it might make me feel uncomfortable, so posting that stuff on 'You Tube' isn't a bad idea. I'd really like to see some other specifically Snuffy's debut.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE'S FOLOWING you around?

Sorry I accidently hit the caps button.

Hey, I'm sorry if I sounded a little selfish in my last post. It's just that my dad was driving me crazy.

Anyway, what I was saying, is that there might be fans of the show who might not by the DVD, so I believe that putting pieces of early episodes on 'You Tube' is a pretty good idea.

While I appreciate your situation, I am of the belief that once something is available on DVD, it should not be shared on YouTube or any other file-sharing site. Sesame Workshop has been extremely lenient on YouTube for allowing their stuff to be posted for so long, but I expect with the DVD sets coming out, I expect they might start cracking down on them.

How long, d'ya think it's gonna take google to tear down all the SS clips due to not wanting to pay royalties (ala several Japanese companies)? I swear, rare clips are the only reason I visit that site, not because some obese 50 year old woman in Minnesota (apologies in advance to Minnesotans) tapes her cat falling off the TV, after getting it rejected by AFHV!

They'll either be removed eventually (your guess is as good as mine as to when)....or they could remain but youtube would morph into a pay-per-view site not unlike what napster has become. Depends on which way google wants to take it.

What happens with the ss clips doesn't concern me as much now with the DVD coming out, and hope for more in the future.

I was really happy to actually get to see one of my all time favorite clips that I've mentioned several times: Ernie counting to ten and starting over again constantly! Isn't that a hilarious one? I love it and Bert's progressively increased frustration. Too bad it doesn't have him banging his head on the table at the end and racing wildly towards the camera. :)
And also so nice to see the "Everyone likes icecream" skit. I love that tough pointy headed green kid. And funny to see cookie monster before he was defined as such.
And also these other great classics:

1. Grover popping Ernie's balloons. And that's one of the rare times those two were together.
2. The original (1969) Ernie reading his book he wrote to Bert (which was just the alphabet)
3. Ernie having different emotions at the movie theater. Wasn't that a riot how that guy anything muppet kept complaining to Bert about Ernie's noise? And notice at the end when that guy and Bert are butting heads that Bert says, "Your'e gonna throw me out? I'd like to see that!" Oooh yeah you tell em' Bert!

And quickly these other great ones ---> The animated jazzy traingle and square sketch, (I love the music for the square's dance and the ensuing scoffing from the triangle!) the chicken or the egg song, the bear tapping the bee hive cartoon, and the b is for berries, birdie, etc. on the wall cartoon (Very interesting how a bandit pointing a gun and some bottles of wine were two of the b items. Might not be permitted on today's SS!).

Hi everyone,

Anyone know where I can download a free FLV player? I HAD one on my hard drive, but a stupid virus ate it up!:grouchy: :grouchy: :grouchy: Now I have dozens of old SS clips I can't play! Not even the FLV player's name is left in my archives. It's obliterated.

Can anyone recommend a free FLV player? I think I downloaded one mentioned in this thread, but I don't know for sure. If possible, I'd like to find the same one I had before so I can play the clips. I'd appreciate any help at all.

Thank you,

Well... You See, I'm more p.o'd about Kinnikuman being pulled as it is hugely unpopular here, and only a small few like it. Of course, the Brockenman/ Ramenman fight scene would have been an internet sensation if google didn't whore to the "look at how much money we're worried about potentially sort of losing...maybe" corporations.

I should have had a feeling that video clips were going down, ala music downloads, as whiney media conglomerates p' and moan about how no one's going to overpriced movies and buying overpriced popcorn when about 100 hackers will easily download fine works of cinema like "Employee of the Month" or "Saw 6: If you have seen more than one of these, you qualify for mental help." Plus, no one's watching crappy TV shows since 80% of them are the dang same.

It HAS become like napster already. It had the power to bring people new ideas and stuff the media wouldn't buy into (i.e. indie rock bands). But then, they got cranky because no one was buying up overpriced junk CD's of crappy factory made "Shake your fill in the Blank" dance bubble gum Hip hop. And the slow obsolecence thing.

TV? Movie companies sink large amounts of money into lame TV shows, and then complain, "We made 'The Class' As unfunny and formulaic as possible! How can people possibly be not watching?" Then pounce on Copywrites they neglected or don't even care about for years.

You tube will gradually turn into "America's Funniest Home Videos" the website, no thanks to Google buying it up, making it main stream. The original owners would have at least protested it more.

All and all, this shows how REDICULOUS copywrite is, helping out only those who are rich enough to buy up things because they are too uncreative to do anything good for society. Not to mention how shiftless businessmen, with our politicians in their pockets, want to singlehandedly ruin the internet the way they ruined everything else no one likes anymore.

<<1. Grover popping Ernie's balloons. And that's one of the rare times those two were together. >>

I want to comment on that one, since we previously had a thread about Grover's first sketch. I honestly thing that one might have been filmed before his "Whistle a Happy Tune" song, considering all though he's blue in that one, his voice and personality are more like that of the original Fuzzyface. Just thought I'd bring that up.

What happens with the ss clips doesn't concern me as much now with the DVD coming out, and hope for more in the future.

True, but it might be a while before DVDs with future seasons come out. Heck, it's taking over a year for The Muppet Show Season Two to come out. So it's nice to see classic clips on You Tube while we're waiting.

Search google for 'wimpy FLV player' and it should turn up. :)

You could also use 'You Tube Grabber' to get the files.

Here are 3 really surprising clips from 1969. They’re all songs that were done later, and we thought the first 2 were from the eighties or early 90’s.

You do know that all three of those are included as bonus features on the Sesame Street: Old School Vol. 1 DVD, right? You are aware of that release, right?

Anyway, I think we all had a feeling those were from the first season. We already knew about that version of Bein' Green for years, we knew it was from the first season (the Sesame Street Unpaved special listed an airdate for it, stating that it first aired sometime between feburary and may 1970, I can't remmeber which month), and that's been available on the Sesame Street's 25th Birthday: A Musical Celebration video.

I think many of us had a feeling that ABC-DEF-GHI and I Love Trash were from the first season, though we may not have known for sure. I figured they were from the first season, though recently I started to wonder if they were originally just recorded for the first album and then performed on the show. Either way, we knew that the 1980s/1990s versions were not the originals. Elmo's Sing-Along Guessing Game had a version that was obviously from the early 1970s (according to Muppet Wiki, that version is from 1971), and there have been a few specials that showed a clip from a very early 1970s version of ABC-DEF-GHI.

I'm still waiting for my pre ordered copy of the Sesame Street: Old School Vol. 1 DVD. I didn't know those clips were included on it. That's good to know though. I've only had Sesame Street Unpaved for a month, and I haven't had time to read every word of it yet because I'm a full time graduate student right now.

Sesame Street Unpaved doesn't really list the years that every sketch debuted in. It lists the copyright years for most songs (it doens't seem to include copyright credits for any animated songs or poems included), but that just lists when certain songs were copyrighted. By now a lot of songs have been remade and performed many times since their original performances. Pictures from the original Bein' Green are included alongside the lyrics, but the song I Love Trash includes pictures from the 1991 version, and the lyrics to ABC-DEF-GHI are absent from this book.

These great classic clips just keep on coming on youtube!

Some of the newest old ones (newest old, heh heh) that I was real happy to see again are:

- - - The S for Superman 1970 animated segment.

- - - The J friends song. J Joe wearin' jeans, got himself a pocket full of jellybeans, J Joe jeans and his jellybeans hey let's sing a song about J! This is yet another of OH SO many vintage SS clips that is SO fun and catchy to listen to!

- - - The Harvey Kneeslapper mirror trick taht backfires. "You wanna see somethin' funny?!" That was great how the blue guy finally gets him back by cracking up at Harvey's face (oh now THAT'S funny!).

- - - The three witches sketch from 1972. Wonderfully funny skit and perfect timing for Halloween season! I always loved most of all that witch with the long hair who had the magic kettle of water and the great laugh, "Woo hoo hoo! ooh ooh ohh ahhh ahhh!"

- - - Cookie Monster's three wishes. Wow this is one I had forgotten all about! Always extra special nostalgia to see a clip that I not only haven't seen in 3 decades but also had completely forgot about all this time! The genie of the toothpaste! "Shish kabob bam shazam!" And love how CM kept going back and forth to storyteller Bob and the genie. A marvelous SS segment!

- - - And another Ernie and Bert at the movies, this one being Ernie making a lot of noise with his snacks. This is one of those I felt real bad for Bert. Poor guy does nothing wrong and yet he's the one who gets ejected. Notice at the end Ernie says to the usher, "Don't take my friend Bert" but then says, "I'll tell you how the movie ends, Bert" and sits back down! Yeah he really felt bad for what he did to Bert! Notice also how they show Ernie just sitting there quietly for several seconds as the clip ends. No more rustling his snacks around and bothering the others. Wonder if this means Ernie did the whole noise thing on purpose just to get Bert upset and then in trouble. (It's an interesting thing I've always wondered; does Ernie irritate Bert on purpose or does he innocently but naively cause Bert all the aggravations? Some skits seem the former and others the latter and others I'm just not sure. So I guess the answer is BOTH! :) ).

And I'm still so thrilled that "Ernie counting to ten and starting over" (called "World's greatest counter of numbers") and that "jazzy triangle and square square" animated sketch were uploaded a while ago!

I hope to see the "There once was a hand" (narrated by TEC's Skip Hinnant) some time. I understand that it had appeared on a Noggin episode so I'm sure some people have it on tape.

I had another thought about that "Ernie making noise at the movies" sketch. Could it have been an intention of the makers to teach children that sometimes life can be unfair? Here's Ernie making all the noise and Bert ends up paying the price for it by being ejected. Perhaps would help children with the realization that sometimes unfair things can happen living in a world with imperfect people. Like a teacher blaming you instead of the kid that really did the misbehaving. Or a parent punishing you when your sibling did equal or worse and yet went unpunished. Just a thought. But my guess is that wasn't their idea but that this was just supposed to be a humorous skit along the lines of Laurel and Hardy. I could see this very thing happening there. Laurel makes noise and irritates the moviegoers. Hardy gets increasingly annoyed at Laurel and then blows his cool. The usher then ejects Hardy instead of Laurel.

Hmmm. I hadn't thought about it before but you're right. In fact, I don't think they played that one on the show in recent years either. How could we have overlooked that classic segment? :p :(

That's a good point. I wondered about that too. I mean, I think it's obvious Ernie's not too stupid to realize that if Bert can't sleep with water dripping he sure as heck wouldn't be able to sleep with the vaccuum cleaner running. Also, I read somewhere that Ernie just likes to play tricks on 'old buddy Bert.' I'm assuming it's just Ernie's way of trying to get attention. That's the best explanation I can come up with.

Thanks for uploading that, Nanto. That's a real fun one. I know a lot of people love Bert's closing line: "Hey there lamp, that's a nice shade!" And I was nine when I first saw this. I decided to do this to my dad. He got angry after a few of my rhyming lines and said, "Now don't do that anymore!" I used Ernie's reply: "One, two, three, four." Then he gave me that look and I knew I had better knock it off right away!
And forgive me for asking a real stupid question, but what was that they used to make that sound throughout the skit? Was it a drum? Sounded like it but yet there wasn't a real solid sound of a stick hitting the drum to me.

Why is it, on you tube, i have seen the montages (with the same guy doing the voice overs) for D, G, and I think R. And on the old School DVD, they played the D montage (drop into the Daffadils), at least 2x's, but I have not seen the one for the letter T. I know it was on the show. I used to see it when I was growing up. I think the last time I actually saw it, it was on an episode where Savian tapped danced Chicago the lion to sleep. The episode origianally was brought to you by the letters M and S, but it was a repeat where they changed the letters (did that happen often?) to S and T. That episode ( I lost the tape) was from 1994, and I believe they might have retired the film (it is a little out-dated). Am I nuts?

I just watched the one where the cast decides to change Woof Woof's name to Barkley. Yeah, that is so strange how Gordon just decides out of nowhere they NEED to rename the dog! I like the name Barkley, but I felt so bad for Bob! lol

However, it was nice to see the adults having "normal" conversations like they used to. I haven't seen that in a long time. My favorite part was when Susan made Mr. Hooper stay on her side and he said, "I was just standing here!" And when Linda goes over to the Barkley side.

I was thinking the exact same thing, that he might try and rename Big Bird! Food Freak's great though. I don't think I could keep a straight face if the other characters started calling him that.

"Hi, Bob!

"Oh hi, Food Freak, how are you doing today?"

LOl, nope I couldn't keep a straight face...

Oh wow I noticed a little while ago that that one clip from SS that scared me the most as a child was put on youtube a week or so ago! It's called "Sesame Street Alien Alphabet". I've brought it up here before several times. Well, at first I played it through with the sound off! kee hee hee! Then I mustered up the courage to play it with audio. And I'm still here in one piece! Heh heh, it was primarily the beginning with the sound and the red muppet running up the screen that affected me the most back in the early 70's. The person who uploaded it, Nantosuichoken, even described it as "Two Muppet aliens say the alphabet, over some freaky electronic percussion." It sure was indeed freaky, and glad to see that others who left comments said it always scared them too (as well as people here who replied to me saying the same thing). :)
And nice to see that one of the early restaurant scenes with Grover and the blue guy is there now. The one where Grover forgets to bring the spoon. And boy what a nut that Grover is. Blowing on the customer's soup and even putting his finger in it ("Oh I can feel that it's too cold")! And I thought one of the user comments there was hilarious. It said, "One of these days Fat Blue will go to the psycolgist to talk about his Grover problems-and Grover will be the psycologist!" Great line!
And just wanted to say I am still really enjoying that "J friends song" that has been there a week or two now. It's just such a fun one to hear. My favorite part for some reason occurs at the 40 - 42 second part, where the first two muppets say, "J Jane jumping Jane." It just sounds so cool. And please confirm this for me - are the four puppeteers in this sketch Jerry Nelson, Jim Henson, Fran Brill, and Frank Oz, respectively?

Today I noticed a clip of 1988 Sesame Street, featuring Placido Flamingo having a major crush on Maria! I actually remember seeing this episode as a kid. I really appreciated seeing it again!

http://youtube.com/watch?v=-Dd0CluxHjo

This is the Sesame Street I remember, back when it was more silly and zany (as opposed to babyish). Plus, I remember them occasionally yelling from windows at night occasionally, to make the show seem like a real inner city.

And it's amazing what they're trying to teach in this episode, you can't force someone to love you if they don't want to. Some might say that's a too adult for kids to understand; but it does make an impression on children And later in life, it starts to make more sense.

I've been lurking here for a while, and finally decided to join the forum a few weeks ago. Youtube is a godsend! Sawing14s and the rest have brought a lot of joy to my otherwise boring daily routine. I've actually used this thread recently as a guide to all the classic SS clips being posted, but I've also had fun just searching the site and seeing what I find. So many great memories, so many "oh yeah!" moments, and a lot of great clips that were either before my time or from an era after I had stopped watching the show. I'm an 80's baby, so I'm glad to see "Danger" and I about fell over after I found "Miami Mice" the other day. As an adult, I haver such a greater appreciation for the comedy, artistry, innovation and music that this show offered for decades. And it's amazing how this stuff stays with you, either as a clear memory, or as a nugget stored away in the subconscious until something brings it out again. Some clips that I would like to see again are:

The Batty Bat
the coconut song with the Count and Harry Belafonte
Bert's Blanket
A New Way to Walk
cartoon about 2 sisters fawning over a singer named Danny
I'm a Baby (song)
Who Am I? (song accompanied by nature clips and a space shot of Earth)
original version of the song "You're my Baby"
wild west sketch with a tough guy wanting to know "y"
Big Bird in Japan (the entire show)
the Rappin', Rhymin' Alphabet, featuring Grover breakdancing
Kermit's alphabet poem in the swamp (partially quoted in my signature)
the Gruchketeer meetings
puzzle segment in which kids (offscreen) try to guess what image is being made

But the clip I've been searching for the longest, with no success, is a song sung by 2 crows about "what it is to be alive." The song has stuck with me over the 20 years (or however long its been) since I've seen it, but I can't find an mp3, an image, or even the complete lyrics anywhere.

Now, I have one more thing I would love to see (now that the T montage has been posted!). There was a clip in the late 70's with Gordon, and kids making shapes with a big elastic band. I used to see that clip all the time. Does anyone have that one to post?

At the very very beginning of the YouTube clip of Danger's No Stranger is the very last frame of the #20 Stamp Sketch. So, can you put the #20 Stamp Sketch on YouTube, sawing14s?

It was nice to see one of my favorite animated segments recently: the customer buying apples from the grocer and continually changing his mind as to how many. In the thread "Your favorite cartoons on Sesame Street", Sesame Mike brought this one up in early 2005 and I replied to it. Here's what we said:

In another grocer scene, a man asks for 4 apples. But the man keeps changing his mind for various reasons (e.g., so-and-so has false teeth and can't eat apples, the kids will be asleep when I get home), so the grocer keeps taking apples off and putting it back on the scale and tries to figure out how many are there. After a lot of going back and forth, when there's one apple left on the scale, the frustrated grocer sticks it in the man's open mouth and says "Here, have an apple, it's a present from me."

This one is one of my all time fave SS cartoons. Loved the increasing frustration of that grocer! When the customer said, "Uh what am I thinking" the grocer hilariously in a defeated way says, " I don't know." Then the customer says "She has false teeth; she couldn't very well eat an apple could she" and laughs. And the grocer laughs too but sarcastically of course!

And the expression on the grocer's face near the end where he's sweating profusely and looks like he's about to wig out is hysterical. And I still love best of all that final line of the customer, "On second thought..." when he already had numerous other thoughts.

Also recently added was the third 1973 Ernie and Bert movie theater sketch, this one with the lady's tall hat. One user left a comment saying why didn't she just lay her hat on the floor! And I always wondered why Bert didn't just move to another seat (was literally every seat in the theater occupied?). And still another obvious solution would have been for Bert to use his own advice he gave to Ernie: Just ask the lady nicely to please move her hat so he can see!

And from "The Electric Company" it's nice to see the song with Morgan Freeman, "Everyone has a pain" uploaded. This skit is on the first TEC dvd set, but it's nice to have on youtube too now because I enjoy hearing the song and this way I don't have to put on my TEC dvd every time I want to hear it.

It's great the collection of classic SS clips that are on youtube now and keep coming in. I'm hoping to sometime see Little Jerry and the Monotones and their "Sad" and "Surprise" songs. And Skip Hinnant's "There once was a hand". Also Ernie and Bert and Herry fighting over the same chair. And Joe Raposo in the man looking for a 20 (that's a 2 and a zero TOGETHER). And the "up up and away in my beautiful balloon" one. And Lefty trying to sell Ernie an empty box. Those are a few that come to mind the most.

Remember that rant of feear I had that these would have eventually been taken off the site? I'm glad to say it looks like this hasn't been affected too much. Looks like new clips are being added all the time. A few more I wouldn't mind seeing:

Maria and Luis' "Hola" song
The song "Let's go riding in an automobile"
Rebel L
The Love Boat parody

And does anyone remember this sketch? I'm 75% sure its from SS. It involves an ant or a flea, and at one point the bug is running around the room singing, "run-run-run-run..."

I would so love to see the song "You Say Hola" with Maria and Luis if anybody such as Sawing14 has it. I haven't seen that clip for some time. I would LOVE to see this one again! It ROCKS!!! :P Requests of mine seem to have slowly but surely been added up (i.e. "Danger's No Stranger"). Nice to see some "forgotten" ones too (kaleidoscope clips and the perspective 'toon with reggae music that was added recently) I think that just leaves 3 big requests; the aforementioned "Rebel L", "The Letter N" by Nick Normal and the Nickmatics (if you post this, don't forget to put it up in its entirety - in other words include the "NTV" part, too, with Nora Nicks), and the Bellhop clip for # 8 (whoops, almost forgot - 40 Dots and the G for Gorilla cartoon w/the guy in the gorilla suit). I'm hoping in a couple days from now, my next visit to YouTube will be "brought to you by the letters L and N and the number 8!!" :D) I look forward to seeing these if anyone has 'em.

This News Flash is so cool! I love the low-budget special effects used here. It looks like they taped the Lavender Pinocchio Muppet to the cardboard wall and put a hole through the center of the puppet and put a broom through it with the handle colored lavender.

I think Frank Oz stole the show here with his Pinocchio. His lies are so FUNNY! Even funnier than Fozzie Bear! (No hard feelings, Fozzie :P ) Frank tends to steal the show with his characters on several Sesame Street skits, particuarly the News Flashes with Prince Charming, or that one with the Pied Piper.

However, it looks like the first minute of the skit had poor lighting. It looked pretty dark and shadowy. But then it gets brighter and easier to see. It also looks like this skit might be from between 1974 and 1979, rather than the SS Skit Database saying it's from 1972 (I KNEW there were some errors in that!)

Is that the "T for Toes" sketch? It sounds like it's voiced by the same guy and is similar to the others, except that only one t word (toes) is focused on for the clip, instead of a whole bunch of T words.

I know exactly what sketch that is. That narrator shows all the things you can do with toes and begins with the letter t (in a lower case letter). Well, the T for toes sketch isn't there any more. The other sketch T sketch is there but not the "T for toes" one. I wish someone put it back up there.

I must say I was quite shocked to find this parodied a PUNK song (not saying it wasn't fun, it was quite fun, I'm just shocked) I mean I know SS has had their share of hard rock parodies (Alice Cooper, Billy Idol, ZZ Top, etc.) but it seemed like they generally shyed (sp?) away from punk. I remember this segment from when I was a kid and I thought it had a '60s-ish mid-era The Who/Rolling Stones sound like "Big Kids Cry" seems to have. I'm pretty sure "The Letter N" by Nick Normal and the Nickmatics sounded a bit like the Clash though I'm not entirely sure 'cuz I haven't heard it in awhile. Does anybody know if there were other segments on SS that referenced and/or parodied punk? If so, please say what they are and (if you can) post 'em on YouTube! Jeez if they can get by parodying "Blitzkrieg Bop" they could've done "I Wanna Count to 8" ("I Wanna Be Sedated") :P

THANK YOU GUYS FOR UPLOADING THESE GREAT CLIPS! Many of these I had totally forgotten about! If I may, I'd like to request a few...

1. Ernie & Bert – Ernie has a television set that only says a letter of the alphabet over and over and when Ernie turns off the tv, he pulls something out of it that starts with that letter. (I would almost give my right arm to see this one again!)
2. Animation skit about an acorn that falls off a tree…goes through the seasons I believe. Beautiful music.
3. A live action segment where a boy and girl loose their dog and they go to a printer who makes up signs for them to put up around the neighborhood (pre computer technology era).
4. Muppet skit: a song about babies and how they cry. There’s a muppet baby in a high chair that continually cries through the skit.
5. Live action sequence about city kids doing various things (playing outdoors). But towards the end they start showing a man who is shaving ice and making snow cones for the kids. (This is another skit I would REALLY like to see)
6. One of the animated segments with the hand that has a pencil and makes detailed drawings (including a bridge I believe).

You Tube finally has a vidoe clip from a Baker film that was not shown on Noggin, Four Song (Song of Four). I don't keep track of the adresses for each clip, but Muppet Wiki has a link to that clip on the page for Number Song Series (it was formerly listed as The Baker Films, untill some doubted that The Baker Films was the official title). And while looking at the comments section, I've got great news: the person who uploaded that clip also has video copies of the other Baker films not shown on Noggin (and not already on You Tube) except for one (though it seems like that contributor is not aware that it exists), so You Tube might finally show all remaining Baker films (except one), so we might finally get to see Rowlf's appearance (or those who have seen it will finally see it again). How exciting!

some unscrupulous individuals have taken to spamming youtube searches with their own marketing videos...it has really been decimated by markerters for porn and such.

i'm no techie, but one way they do it is by using about 4000 tag lines with their video...and the tag lines include the most popular youtube searches. sesame street is included as one of the many, many tags, so when you search youtube for "sesame street", the irrelevant movie pops up. sometimes it is porn related, trying to get more traffic to their web site, sometimes it is a budding film maker who wants as many people to see his "work" as possible.

it's veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery annoying, but it's pretty easy to spot and skip over the obvious spam attempts.

LOL that shows how much you know....If youtube got their act together they would remove all the muppet and sesame clips since they are uploaded with out the copyright owners permission.

I'm hoping for it to be up there too....someone posted it to youtube a while ago, but it was taken down.

Speaking of first/last and forwards/backwards skits...does anyone have this clip?

http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Image:Backwardsfilm.jpg

According to wikia, it was shown on one of the 1977 hawaii episodes shown on Noggin. I remember seeing this as a kid and being facinated with the stop-motion/re-wind film techniques they did for it. It might have also aired on the Electric Company. I would love to see this one again if anyone has it. :excited:

Back last month, I was shocked and disappointed that all of christmas75's videos are removed! Most of these videos were from the late 80's and early 70's episodes of Sesame Unpaved and some old Sesame videos. I wonder why that have been removed!

Do you know which ones have got removed?

Sorry to bug with more requests, but this has just been such a joy, finding all these clips. A couple that I'm looking for:

1. The dancing girl baby "I'm a baby, Gah gah, Goo goo, Wah wah wah wah!"
2. "I got a chair" -- the kid in the wheelchair flying a kite
3. A sketch where a guy goes to a barber and has so much hair that it ends up covering the barber when he's done cutting. The song goes "And the barber kept on cutting, and he cut and cut some more..." Any of this ringing a bell with anyone but me?

And if anyone has a better quality version of the Forgetful Jones "Oklahoma" sketch, that would rock, too.

In return, here's a little something for you guys -- not Sesame Street, but Henson and cool.

Saw the "Telly's Town" skit featuring Fur Jam on YouTube recently. It rocked!!! Is it just me, or is this a parody of "Daughter"? (by Pearl Jam, of course) Funny, I never thought SS hit grunge territory, I thought punk and new wave was the furthest thing they touched upon in rock music (this does not include the songs where actual celebrities were guests i.e. Goo Goo Dolls, R.E.M., etc.) Then again, if Sesame St. did do a grunge spoof, there could've been room for more (How about "Come As An R" by Dontwanna? Would've been great if you ask me!!)

What I'd like to see on YouTube:

*More bits from past episodes (1969-late 90s)

*The Trading Game

*Out to Lunch special (now THAT would be a real treat)

*Julie on Sesame Street

*Jean Marsh/Grover Monster Cartoon Special

*Sesame Street Goes to Prison

*Don't Eat the Pictures (ENTIRE special)

*Put Down the Duckie (entire special)

*Sesame Street: 20 and Still Counting

*Some Sesame PBS ads from old days (heard about them)

*Sesame Street 4-D Movie Magic (still waiting....)

Also, when Sesame Street aired on TV2 in Malaysia in the mid/late 90s, right before each episode started (every 9am on Saturday mornings), there was a short animated intro. It started with a fairy (or butterfly?) coming to the screen, and it cuts to Big Bird (doesn't look exactly the same because he doesnt have any feathers on the top of his head and his legs were brown. He kinda looks like the Big Bird from Family Guy---except he didn't act mean or anything like he did to Meg in that episode :p LOL) walking down a grassland (remember that there were bulding blocks, letters, numbers and whatnot there...my memory's fuzzy on that part. Anyway, as Big Bird keeps walking, Ernie (also poorly drawn) comes up from the left side of the screen and goes back down, and then Grover (lip wasn't colored in. It was white) comes up from the right side and then goes back down. Then, it dissolves to a shot of a red background and there's Big Bird sliding up from the bottom of the screen and smiling at us, and then the episode starts...

Nope there is such a special, it doesn't even contain muppets, all it contains is the jail mates, the only muppet bit in the special is the prinosers watching Chrissy & The Alphabeats "Exit" song on a television. But no, its not a joke at all. Sadly.

That stuff I would like to see also. I am also waiting for the song "You Say Hola" with Maria and Luis if anybody out there has it.Which song is that? I remember two ditties that the duo sang that might fit the bill.

One song has a refrain that went:
"No matter what your language, no matter what your name
The things that you're saying can be, the same!"
The rest of the song was "I say ____, that means ____!"
e.g., "I say 'adios'", that means 'good-bye'"

For the other song, I remember the melody well but few of the lyrics. One phrase had Maria saying "Don't squash that bug on the rug" preceded by the Spanish equivalent. The last line went "<something-something> amigos, means that's all for now friends, good-bye."

The Elves and the Shoemaker... another special report covered by Kermit the Frog. The user who put this up says it's from 1976. Actually I'm pretty sure it's from 1979, according to Muppet Wiki. That's when Marylin Sokol did more performing on the show, I imagine. (They could've just used Fran Brill to play the shoemaker's wife!) Also, the announcer at the beginning sounds quite different... almost like Herry Monster! Did Jerry Nelson have a cold or something?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPnDa7sHjds

I also love the animation style here. The caterpillar's voice is also really good, it matches with the animation. However, I found it weird how the caterpillar changes into the chrysalis with its head near the top of the branch. I have seen caterpillars morph into chrysalides in real life, and they hand UPSIDE-DOWN headfirst and then molt their old skin. But the echo effect for the caterpillar/chrysalis's voice was a very nice touch. The butterfly's animation was also very realistic. I love how she says, "I've turned into a butterfly. Bye!" That was a really good way of showing a butterfly caterpillar's life cycle... I wonder if Sesame Street will do something about moths?

It was set up like a scene from a Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movie. Maria is shown wearing a long pink ballgown while Luis is in top hat and tails with a cain included. I didn't get it at first either, Mickey, but I think I've figured it out.

Apparently, young people in love were once told that they should "only make hay while the sun shines." (that is, don't do anything a married couple would do!) That fits with Ernie's comment that the machine "only makes 'A' while the sun shines."

I would like to see that short I remember seeing where the humans were on a real street. They see a garbage truck stop and it's Oscar. They chat for a while and he drives off. Anyway, it was a pretty cool scene.

And, there was also this one where Cookie is about to have some sort of party, and he snoozes off, and dreams about seeing a gigantic cookie, which he is about to chomp on, but it COMES TO LIFE! The cookie tells him that he should eat much "healthier" foods. When Cookie wakes up, he "talks" to a cookie (an ordinary one) and wonders if it wants to be eaten...and so he goes ahead with it.

What I would also like to see someday (or ASAP):
-Bert's marching band
-Oscar's cooking show
-Oscar presents: the warthog
-Characters say the alphabet (4th season premiere)
-Mr. Hooper and Cookie Monster match cookies
-Oscar shows Gordon his new hat, and wants him to put it on him
-Big Bird opens Hooper's Store
-Oscar and kids talk about being angry
-Hawaii scenes

Some one got the verison that's on the "Monsters Hits" video. That has Kevin's version of his Elmo. The guy who put this on youtube record himself doing Brian Muehl verison of Baby Monster on this one. That was his name before Kevin took over. Elmo came from Kevin. He named him that. So really their is a real version of this without Kevin's voice over. The guy got the record verison of this and just recorded over Kevin's voice over and record him recording his his best impreseion of Brian Muehl Elmo.

Also, it looks like Sawing14s went to a lot of trouble to get a copy of the skit that is in English, is logo-free and has the News Flash opening and announcer intact. YES!! I thought I’d never find this skit! I’ve seen it before as a kid, so I am glad to see it again. I remember that I wasn’t even afraid of anything in the sketch. And I didn’t realize that Daws Butler did voices here!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCgjCLPA4Dg&mode=related&search=

This one I also remember when I was little. When seen today, it is just plain weird. I mean, it’s not the gator or snake, it’s the kangaroo. The director obviously knew NOTHING about them. I mean, the kangaroo says, “Look! I have a pocket!” Fact is, they’re NOT called “pockets…” they are called pouches. In real life, only female kangaroos do. Also, he has a regular American voice. I thought that kangaroos would speak with an Australian accent, saying phrases like “G’day, mate!” and “Bloke” and stuff like that. I should know. I know someone who played the local mascot for a minor-league ball team…

http://www.whitmanpolice.com/images/K-O.JPG

But anyways, it's a pretty nice little skit. Someone else also uploaded the same skit, but added a "ONE HOUR LATER" card between the two scenes.

Will sawing14s account be next? Get the free flv player online and save those clips while you can!!!

This is sad. I know with copyright issues and such, but...these most of these bits are all that's really left of the vintage Sesame that didn't make it to the Old School DVD's. Doesn't Sesame Workshop know how much we love watching those clips? Haven't they read the number of views for the videos?

If they plan to continue releasing the old stuff on DVD, fine. However, my point is that fans would love to have access to this stuff, and yanking the videos off of YouTube (copyright issues or not) restricts that access.

We're all here on MC because we love the work of Jim Henson. Sometimes, YouTube may be the only way for some of us to see rare bits of Henson's work. After all, how soon do you think they'll come out with "The Cube", or "Sam and Friends" on DVD? Slim, slim chance, folks.

There's a LOT of stuff on YouTube that Sesame Workshop should be concerned about deleting. What if kids on the internet are looking for Elmo stuff, and they find this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcW86FmHhYE) for example. (WARNING: Click at your own risk...it's not pretty). I am by no means an Elmo fan...but if I were working for Sesame Workshop, I'd much rather be concerned about deleting that video than untouched, rare, vintage Sesame bits. "Lulu's Back in Town" (one of my favorite SS clips) is one example.

So...if you were at Sesame Workshop and was cruising YouTube one day, which clip would you want to remove first?

This? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww3RAgnVOIs)
Or...this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVbZmzJa0jg)?

All I can say is, hope your videotapes last, folks, because soon a Sesame Street clip on YouTube may someday become rarer than finding the Wilkins and Wontkins puppets for 50 cents at a garage sale.

I'm not sure about the other users, but I know that some of Larynxa's stuff didn't have the Noggin logo...there was an old SS clip in black and white (with Cookie Monster?) in that collection, for example.

It is the Viacom/Noggin logo issue that is resulting in the clips being removed. One of mine that I uploaded (letters vs. numbers sketch) had the noggin logo and i got a nasty email from youtube saying that it was removed at request of Viacom and my account would be suspended if i tried to upload anything like that again.

Luckily, all the other clips I have on there (about 30) do not have the noggin logo, so they haven't been removed............................yet.

Some old-school fans (not me, I still don't own a VCR) are uploading original, logo-free copies of some clips that Viacom forced YouTube to drop; three of the best oldie collectors there are mstatz, love2register, and sawing14s.

As for me, I've done some "redub jobs" on some American SS clips that got broadcast overseas (no Noggin/Viacom problem there!), and restored some old logo-free clips that got lost when the original posters' accounts were deleted. I'm also collaborating with a friend of mine in the media-editing business; he's able to replace the Noggin logo on those clips with a new one we designed. His screenname is BabyKyle76: look for more of his submissions soon!

That song isn't in my personal collection as an individual clip, BUT I've managed to download a complete episode (via a torrent-hosting site) which includes "Lulu's Back". I found three great clips, all with Big Bird and Snuffy.

One of them had Big Bird and Snuffy imagining that they were at a disco. I wonder if that was Jerry Nelson or Michael Earl Davis performing Snuffy... it definatley wasn't Robinson. It sounded like Jerry Nelson's Snuffy, but I also feel like he sounded slightly different. If it was Davis, then he did a good job with Snuffy's voice... but it is possible that Nelson's Snuffy started to sound a bit different in his last years as the character (as many characters voices have changed a bit over theyears regardless of whether they kept the same performers).

And there were two clips that I remembered seeing asa child, but I thought that these were the same skit. One of them was the one where Big Bird and Snuffy jumped on Big Bird's trampoline. The other one was If I Was a Cloud in the Sky. Somehow I always thought that the trampoline skit lead to the scene where Snuffy was imagining himself as a cloud, singing the song. But in these clips, they are clearly different... Snuffy just jumps onto the roof instead of into the sky, and the other sketch begins and ends with Snuffy in Big Bird's nest area, dressed as a cloud.

I wonder if either of those last two sketches were made before or after the adults saw Snuffy. The Count did clearly see Snuffy in the trampoline skit, without saying anything about him being imaginary. But when The Count saw Snuffy, he acted as if he had never seen him before. I know that some Mupepts saw Snuffy before the human adults did. But maybe it was the first time that The Count saw Snuffy, and maybe it was broadcast after the adults saw him (The Count wasn't there when the adults saw him... and very few Muppets were in that scene).

If I Was a Cloud in the Sky is more likely to have been before Snuffy was seen by the adults. Snuffy only appears with Big Bird, the adults don't enter the scene, Snuffy doesn't leave so that a human can appear and miss him, and there is no mention of whetehr the others can see him.

Yeah. I've noticed that was Jerry Nelson doing his voice, though it might have been Michael Earl Davis in the costume. Marty took over the role before the grownups met Mr. S. I'm guessing that one was around 1978 or 1979 because the Sesame Disco album came out around that time.

I'm becoming pretty impatient myself (for that matter where's my other favorite '80s rock parody about a letter, "Rebel L"?) It'll come, though. I had to wait about 15 months for "G - Gorilla" to be added and I didn't think ANYBODY would put up one of the "rap" songs about numbers from the late '80s, and lo and behold, someone did :) BTW, the glowing purple "N" was my favorite part, too, along with the "NTV" intro. Now, I think I could appreciate the song a bit more, though, than when I was little.

Actually it's pretty interesting how many negative "n" words (including "negative" itself) there are; as well as that the most famous rock band whose name begins with "N" (Nirvana) probably had one of the most negative histories in all of rock music. That being said, it's cool how SS acknowledged this bit of trivia (the one about negative "n" words, that is, not Nirvana) about the letter N and put it to music, simultaneously parodying MTV and the punk scene.

Hold on,did you figure out type of music that was played in that song? Some people say it's electro new wave like How Now Brown Cow and the Moo Wave while other people like you say it's punk rock.Is it really punk rock?

I can't stand it anymore!Somebody HAS to put up "The Letter N" by Nick Normal and the Nickmatics(comeplete with the NTV intro). It's been 9 years since I've seen that one when I was little and the part that fascinated me the most about that song was at the very end when you see that glowing purple letter N.I always found that cool when I was little.

Okay, first of all, people can't upload everything. Second of all, you can't tell people what to do, third of all, they upload what they want when they want. Its called patience. No meaning to sound rude, but still, its life, we cant always get what we want.

No :( I haven't figured out what type of music they use in this song, but I saw a picture online of Nick Normal back when "Sesame Encyclopedia" existed. He looked like a green version of a member of the Clash, which leads me to believe it could've been punk AND new wave all in one song (if you've ever heard the Clash's "Lost In the Supermarket" you'd know what I was talking about here.)

Did they do a music video for that song?If so I might be able to find "Lost In the Supermarket" on Youtube.BTW,I have that picture for my wallpaper on my laptop!:D.To add with that,I even drew a picture of it on my laptop.

Cool picture :) They don't have an "official" music video for "Lost In the Supermarket", just some lame attempts at matching the lyrics with images. The song that's used in the background for these videos is DEFINITELY "Lost In the Supermarket", though. Check it out, lemme know what you think, and see if the music brings back memories of "The Letter N".

Hilarious, Big Jeffy! Perhaps their songs could include "Enter Doorway", "The Letter L Matters", and maybe a parody of "The Unforgiven" (though I haven't figured out a title yet.) How about "AB/CD" (AC/DC)? Their songs could be somewhere along the lines of "Highway to L", "The Color Black", and "U Shook Me All Night Long". How's that sound?

Well,Litallica is basicly a combination of Little Jerry and the Monotones and Metallica.

I was thinking of doing a combination of How Now Brown Cow and the Moo Wave though I can't think of any.Do you know any electro new wave bands with a keyboardist, guitarist,a female drummer, and two female back up singers?

Talking Heads has 3 male members and one female (not sure if she's the drummer, though). As for the back-up singers, maybe those two girls from the B-52's (Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson). It could be a combination of the two bands! You could call it "How Now Byrne Cow and the Moo-52's"

I'd do it but Chris Frantz is the drummer and because the drummer in How Now Brown Cow and the Moo Wave is a female I don't think it'll work.Sorry.Maybe I could switch them around.BTW,did they really have a keyboardist in the Talking Heads?Just curious.

I'm pretty sure they have a keyboardist; I don't know how else they could've gotten the organ for "Take Me to the River", or the blips and bloops for songs like "Once In A Lifetime", "Burning Down the House", and "Girlfriend Is Better".

The "Ernvis and Berthead" pictures RULE, man!! XD I especially like that one you drew where they're encountered by Lefty!! :p

BTW, thanx 4 updating me on the YouTube posts (in the other thread). Now I know EXACTLY why the # 8 Bellhop skit scared me in my youth; all those floors he crashes down...Ya know I've had a couple of dreams that reference these Bellhop 'toons - one of which referenced (by accident, I think) this exact one. Only I was on an elevator in this one and not stairs and I had go down a weird tunnel-shaped thingy between floors 5 and 1 and I was afraid to go into that tunnel. The other dream I had which referenced these skits was when the shrill-voiced desk clerk was telling the Bellhop to jump from floor # 18 but he couldn't so he was eaten (except for his head) by bees and for some reason he was still alive.

This was a skit that, like the "G - Gorilla" one, I thought would NEVER be shown (I thought it had less of a likelihood than the gorilla 'toon, actually), but lo and behold, it was. Now I have total faith that one o' these daze, "The Letter N" will be shown on YouTube and our dreams will officially come true!! :D

Here are other requests I have.

Be My D - Like I said before,it's mostly so I can conquer my fears over Bushman Bill.

Just Happy To Be Me(Origional version) - I haven't seen that one since 2003 on Noggins "123 Sesame Street".

Rebel L - I've NEVER seen that one when I was little and hearing on how popular it was I want to see it REALLY bad.

Film of a school in Jamaica - Remember that film where a girl tells what she and her brother do at her school in Jamaica with the music from Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds"?It's been a VERY long time since I've seen that film.

Pizzeria Dos - I haven't seen that since I was 4.Someone NEEDS to put that back up on Youtube.

Hmm. Let's see if I can conjure up some memories, here.

Well, there was the girl that puts things in a jar which make her laugh. Animation.

Same quality of animation, the whole of "Know Your Carrot", or something like that. "And DO remember: redheads are called 'carrot-tops' although carrot tops are green!" That one.

Then there's the bit with this girl who tries to play frisbee with a dog, but ends up using her ball, instead. McFerrin sings BGM. Live-action.

"Hello, Hello, Happiness!"

Hmm... there's this one Grover & kid moment... I forget how it comes up, but this little girl pulls up her shirt a bit, and Grover comments on it.

Maybe wandering out of classic mode a bit, here, but any of the kids' safari ones where it ends up with the letter of the day swinging across a couple of times, accompanied by the Tarzan yell.

EDIT: Ah, and there was this other oldie where there are these kids dancing to various kinds of music.

The origonal version was sung by Kingston Livingston III and it featured him doing the opposite of what his friends does,(like wearing his hat at the front),showing he's being himself. It also includes his friends singing backup.Hope this helps.

Thet also make a remake of this. But I'm sure that classic SS fans would be very critical of it, though.:smirk:
