Christmas that is. This weekend, on Saturday; my wife and I drove around noticing how nice the Christmas decorations that many still had up still looked. Then on Sunday evening we went back out and saw that all of those decorations were down.
The malls and stores have mostly closed their Christmas stores, everything that was clearanced on the 26th is practically gone, most everyone here has changed back their avatars (except Beebers, hers is still up from Christmas 2004!) and everyone everywhere seems to have taken down their decorations. It's kinda' sad actually. I think I really miss Christmas now, more then ever!
*Heads off to watch MFC one last time before the nexy holiday season.

Youse' guys have a fake tree too? Ours is still up. We decided to take it down next week. At night I like to lay down underneath the tree with the lights on and look up at it. It's so peaceful and reminds me of when I was a little kid. Laugh all you want but you know you're gonna' try it tonight too if you haven't already! ;)

Oh my gosh, I love doing that! I always did that when I was a kid! I wish I could go home and do it tonight, but we took our tree down last week. I have been feeling very sad that the Christmas season is over for the year. Oh well, it will be here again before we all know it!

My tree fell down so we had to take it down directly after Christmas.

Today I noticed my neighbor put their tree out to the trash. But at work the tree is still displayed in the front of the building (wonder if that's more due to wishing to prolong the Christmas season or just laziness from the maintenence department. :p ).
But even though the season is passing by, the spirit of Christmas can live on through the entire year, as we are grateful every day for our life and our Creator, and practice peace on Earth and goodwill toward men (and women :) ).

We had our decs down for about a week now. We kind of had to beecause we had the carpet cleaners come over, and we took the tree down, so we thought we may as well take the rest down too. First time I took my deas down before Jan the 9th.I think the true meaning of Christmas isn't the decs anyway it's being with freands and familey.

Good point Ziffel, it's like Bob said in Christmas Eve on Sesame Street "Keep Christmas with you all through the year, when Christmas is over you can keep it near...."

Personally, I'm always more depressed Halloween is over with than Christmas (especially since the Christmas merchandise comes out around august, and Halloween stuff comes out, like, 2 weeks later). But considering that Christmas is 12 days long, I heard my mother just took the tree down yesterday. onsidering my decorations consist of a Christmas Pinky and the Brain Bean Bag set, and an old TMNT character stocking, I just pulled them down before New Years. Took 5 minutes to put up, 4 minutes to take down.
However, there is always one relitive or something that never gives the family their presents until much later (sometimes never), I guess you have to keep Christmas spirit with you.
But I DO love post holiday clearances. I got like, 10 bucks worth of candy for a buck, and a wind up Leonardo for 20 cents (I had the other three turtles, got Raph for Christmas, got Mike and Don for 50 cents a week ago). I mean, you can get all this great stuff for dirt cheap.
Sadly the next major Holiday is valentines day (I'm not a fan), then Easter, then there are no more candy/ Merchandise themed holidays until Halloween. that's when you have to pay full price for candy.

Our tree is still up. We even still have a few unwrapped gifts, since the people they're for we haven't had the chance to give them to.

Our tree is still up, along with all our decorations! I say stretch it out as long as possible! And I just love dozing on the couch in the soft glow of the tree lights...

I've been feeling pretty sad that Christmas is over but at the same time I'm feeling a little releived since it was a hard season. We still have our tree up but that's mostly because we haven't gotten motivated enough to take it down. Christmas itself was a lot of fun my first one married so I'll miss that but I have good memories. We were busy Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the day after Christmas we did Hannukah. It was a good time.
BTW I had my first cadbury egg this weekend. It may be really early but I couldn't help myself. Those things are great and I am very much ready for spring here in cold Wisconsin.

We just took our tree and decorations down Monday. My wife was happy to have the apartment back to normal, and I thought I 'd be more disappointed, but in truth; it's the whole Christmas spirit, the atmosphere I miss. Basically I miss everyone else's decorations, especially the mall. :sympathy:

Well... it's the 19th day of the year, and Christmas is the 359th day of the year, but the holiday season officially starts on black Friday, which is the 328th day of the year, so that means 309 days till the decorations go back up! :excited: I can wait.

I hate christmas. Maybe it's okay for all of the people who celebrate it because of being religious, or maybe people liek christmas because they like the time of year with all the decorations, etc.
But I don't like it at all. Too many people spend a lot of money on crap. One guy boght an ipod that was over 200 hundred dollars for his son. What in the world?? Another woman was buying her 11 year old son a cell phone. An 11 year old!!!
People spend so much money and then once they get their credit card bill statements in the mail come mid to late january, they are in debt and won't recover until the summer time. And then christmas comes again, people spend too much money, and then they get in debt again.
You know my parents kept on asking me what I wanted for christmas and I kept on telling them nothing. I don't need anything right now.
And don't get me started on christmas music. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! After a week you get tired of listening to the same old junk. Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer, Let It Snow, Twelve Days Of Christmas, I'm Dreaming Of A White Christmas, and others.......I was so glad when radio stations went back to playing regular music.

Hey, I always liked doing that, too!
But this year, taking down the stuff was super easy. Here's why:
Usually every year we put up our (fake) tree and load it full with the decorations and lights and all that stuff, but this year was different. This summer, we had two new (and very energetic) additions to the family.
(Insert vintage Sesame "Dollhouse" clip)
"What's that? Small pitter-pats..."
"One, two! Two kitty cats!"
Yep! My parents got two new kittens, and they are into everything! LOL! We knew if we put up a tree, they would do Red Fraggle-type gymnastics among the antique ornaments and lights.
So...no big tree this year. But there was an alternative, which I think Jim would approve of. I went out to the backyard and broke a little twig off of one of our trees. I then brought it back in, taped an adhesive bow to it, and ta-da! Our very own Christmas branch...just like Emmett Otter's! (only a lot smaller).
But I had to put it in the one place the cats couldn't get to. I Scotch-taped the "Christmas branch" (or more accurately, the Christmas twig) to one of the blades on the ceiling fan.
So, this holiday season, our family gathered together, opened presents and celebrated Christmas beneath the "Christmas Twig". Like I said, it was super easy to take down after Christmas!
:)

That's so Christmassy, what a neat thing. We were gonna' get a real tree this year, but we also have a new cat and we wanted to make sure she was okay with a fake tree before we brought in a real one.
