I was wondering about something. If you could Ask Kevin Clash any questions. What would you ask him. :)

Perhaps I ought to elaborate a little. Gentle Giant and I, along with a couple of others, are working on an on-line Muppets fanzine. Anyway, Gentle Giant has Kevin Clash's address, and we thought that an interview with him would be something cool to put into the magazine. So we thought we'd ask all of you here what questions you would ask of him, hence this thread.

Hope that clears things up!

What is your fondest memory of Richard Hunt?

Here's one:

Are you at all unhappy about the fact that Elmo is becoming the main focus of Sesame Street, and that other classic characters are being given less and less exposure? Also, are you at all dissatisfied with the writing being done for Elmo? Elmo is currently regarded as "annoying" and "stupid" by fans of the classic Sesame Street; do you believe that the character is not being treated correctly?

Is working at the Jim Henson Company more business like and have less of the BIG family fealing now tha Jim has passed away?

My understanding is that Frank Oz's characters are recasted, yet he has returned to Sesame Street to perform both Grover and Cookie Monster in "Letter Of the Day" inserts. Has he made any plans to retire from the Jim Henson Company?

What is your favorite character to perform and which one do you feel is underrated?

If you could invent a holiday, what would it celebrate, and what would it be called?

No wait! Don't use that one! That's my signature question!

How about...

What would you do for a Klondike bar?

I don't know if the interview has been done yet or whatnot, but here is my question:

Under all the given circumstances (ie. working with children vs. not, etc.), which was/is the harder character to perform, Baby Sinclaire or Elmo?

I have a question for Kevin Clash: What's your favorite Kool-Aid flavor: Red, Purple, or Orange? ;)

It's great to see people finally asking the real questions!

:D

(I'm sure we'd all like to know Kevin Clash's favorite Kool-Aid flavor, I know I would!)

That's a neat coinkydink, as I myself am prepping up a very high quality possibly colour print Muppet fanzine. I have an endless array of ideas that would bring back the fun of the Muppet magazine of the 80's, but with the cutting edge look of modern layout programs and insight. I have been publishing zines for awhile(the last one I did, dsx#5 featured a review of muppetfest, anime, film and manga reviews, video games, etc)

I'm encouraged by the new MC site design, as great Muppet site designs in the past have been an oxymoron.

Anyways, let us know some of the ideas you have for your web zine. For my print zine Im mulling over, I want to include everything from tons of original fan artwork to perhaps an interview with some performers and the Muppets themselves.
Maybe a 2002 overview, future of the muppets editorial, etc.
I want to have it out in time for Muppetfest if I do it.

eek, forgot to mention Clash is one of my fave alltime Muppeteers(especially Clifford and Leon) He's so warm in person as you'd imagine, and man does that Elmo sure fit right in with Pepe, Floyd, Gonzo and Kermit! Not sure what I'd ask him...
I remember some questions a lot of us were wondering were asked at MF, like how Elmo's huge success changed his status as a Muppeteer...stuff like that.

I have some questions:

Having the ability to pick new puppeteers must be great. Just how do you go by picking? Should the performer have backround experience?

Can you send in multiple tapes, just to show the different types of performance you can handle?

When you do a workshop, what do you teach the fellow puppeteers?

Are there any guest puppeteers that come in for some tips?

Besides your own characters, who is your favorite Muppet? (Any Henson show)

Are there any new Clash Muppets in the works?

Hi -
I'm very new here! My question for Kevin would be, "how does it feel to be the heart of a character that is so loved around the world by children as well as us bigger children?"

I had another question for all of you. Does Kevin have a Fan Club or is there a fan club address?

Thanks.

If you go under the MC FAQ's there's a fan mail address for the JHC.

Or, just email to fanmail@henson.com

Thanks for the fan mail info. I really appreciate it. I'd been looking around, but couldn't find a way to get a message send :)

Actually, if you're writing in regards to Elmo, you might do better writing to:

Kevin Clash ICO Sesame Workshop
One Lincoln Plaza
New York NY 10023

If I could ask Kevin Clash any questions, I would ask him if anybody has ever interviewed him about doing the voice of Benny the Bunny.

I wrote him a few months ago regarding me and my little brother who's about 11months now. He gave us back an autograph pic of him and Elmo. Cool huh? I just can't let the baby hold it cause he'll either hug it to death, or eat it :p

I wrote a letter to Kevin Clash in May, and weeks later I received an autograph picture of Elmo. It read: TO MARILYN W/LOVE, ELMO. Then it had his signature on it. I haven't gotten a letter back from him yet. I might just end up writing him another letter if he doesn't answer soon enough. Did you get a letter back from him, Contessa?

I wrote a second letter to Kevin Clash and mailed it last week. I hope he got it by now. Hopefully he'll write back and send me a picture.
