Oh baby, I am rock and roll.
Okay, here it is for all you people who think the first network airing was the only uncut showing. I can prove you wrong.
I got a copy of the original airing in a trade a little while ago. I watched it, and noticed it was the exact same thing as my taping from Nick in the early 90's. So, I watched them back-to-back and low and behold, they are one and the same!! BAM! I knew I had an uncut version with my Nick airing, being I saw the Muppet Babies and Snowman parts everyone was saying I should be missing. So basically...YOUR FACE to you non-believers! Nick DID are the uncut version! And now I have it in perfect quality with original Nick commercials!
YOUR FACE!
Email me if you'd like a copy. :D

I had The Jim Henson Hour episode with the behind the scenes stuff ...but then someone taped over it. I was in 4 grade I think and stayed up late to watch it, even though it was taping.
Maaan, I miss that.

Gee, could someone be gloating, just a tad?
*thinks* ....Nahhhhhhhh.
But truthfully, Matt, I think that's really cool.

You are right, the original airing wasn't the only uncut one. I think the special regulary ran in the early 90s in it's original form.

I've got the original airing of that, and I don't remember that scene at all. Hmmmmm, might have to go watch it again.

I'm still APPALLED that the dvd doesn't have the full version. Couldn't Columbia have secured the rights to those two songs before releasing it? I'm still under the delusion that dvd is a permanent repository of video so this burns me up even more.
And let me just say that MFC was the last great muppet project (it was after 30 years, right?). For me, the Muppets ends there with every franchise together and Jim washing dishes.

Okay, just want to reply to every message I seem to have missed:
Okay, first off, thanks for backing me Buck...I had to yell because I thought people might think me to be a madman. But I'm not mad ya hear me?!!?! I AM FINE!!! :)
Secondly, yes the Fozzie's mother stocking scene does exist, and is on the Nick airing. Very cute little scene.
Grail...I have to talk like Shatner in these Shatner-esque moments..I think its an appropriate use of the stupid pausings. So, I Will...continue with what I, was saying right...okay.
Well...that's basically it. This post was mainly for people like Jeffrey Grey who thought the only complete airing was the original airing. I'm glad to know now that that isn't so. In a way, I need to see the edited version so I can figure out what I'm missing by gaining. :D

Cantus Rock, I swear that the Night Before Christmas part was shortened on the Nick airing, but I guess I was wrong...

Its cool Jeff noones mad at ya :)
I was just saying that really to give you some more hope in finding a complete version rather than slaving to get the original airing.
Also ya know, I'm sure Nick aired the special more than once, maybe you just didn't catch a complete airing of it.

All I know is while some edits may be in place on MFC dvd(I myself dont remember what exactly past the muppet babies film)
nothing to me beats seeing MFC in crystal clear digital format!

Hey guys. As the person who traded Matt the MFC tape in the first place, I can field this question.
The stocking scene takes place right after the last commercial break. Ma has hung a stocking over the fireplace and Fozzie complains, saying "I'm not a little cub anymore, Ma." "All right then," says Ma, "I'll take it down." Fozzie stops her and says, "Well, I didnt say THAT!" I dont have the special handy right now, so this is a best guess.
Matt, as for the stuff that was cut...
1) The stocking scene
2) The Muppet Babies home movie, or at least the song portion of it. As soon as it starts, it ends.
3) Fozzie singing with the snowman. Everything between Rowlf and Sprocket barking and the penquins complimenting Fozzie is gone. It kinda makes the entire Fozzie/Snowman thing pointless later on
4) The song "Home For the Holidays", sung right after Piggy finally arrives. Now we go from a close up of Piggy on the sled to inside the house. Too bad too, we miss an "icey patch" joke here.
5) Bits of the Xmas melody, including "Have Yourself a Merry Little Xmas" by Kermit and Piggy and "Peace on Earth" by Statler and Waldorf.
and...I think that's it.

Yep Ms. Skeeter, the two old guys in the balcony belted out a tune with the rest of the family. :D They weren't in the balcony this time though, they were just among the rest of the Muppets.

Hey Thanks for that !
This explains it, Teh 'Ma and Fozzie Stocking Scene' was never shown in England, Because it has something to do with Fozzie not believing in Santa, Or something.
See ya

Hmmm...
It's strange... When I was in U.K. three or four years ago, I bought a VHS called A Muppet Family Christmas (which came with a small Kermit Plush) in a store...
It has Muppet Babies Song and the Snowman Song, it has the scenne after Miss Piggy's arrival and the "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" bit... But it doesn't have Statler and Waldorf Song neither the scenne with Emily and Fozzie talking about stocks...
Is this weird? Is this normal? "Why am I here?"
Thank you!

I taped the special off of Nick and still have it. It was uncut. I wasn't even aware that it had BEEN cut until reading it on this site, and am shocked and angry.
The Snowman routine and Statler and Waldorf singing were some of my favorite parts of the special, and still stick with me today. I also remember Piggy slipping on the ice. I'm amazed that the good parts got cut.
Statler and Waldorf sing the following, very much in character for them:
I heard the bells on Christmas day
those old familiar carols play
and warm and sweet, the words repeat
of peace on earth, goodwill to men ...
Maybe you had to be there. But a highlight in an already great song medley.
Still have this on tape somewhere.
While we're at it, those who love great Christmas specials should check out recent rereleases of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer ... this is my second favorite special next to The Grinch and the new video version is a GORGEOUS print that is a longer edit with lots of great new scenes. "Fame and Fortune" is replaced with a silly reprise of "Misfits" ... and Yukon Cornelius discovers a Christmas peppermint mine at the end!

I think that it is just shear Nincompoopery that Columbia can't have the whole thing on a ruddy DVD!!!! IT'S A DVD!!! IT'S SUPPOSED TO HAVE MORE!!!
But that's not Columbi's worst choice.. think of a recent movie with an annoying CGI mouse.....

interesting...IIRC, I saw this last year on YTV (canadian network) and all of the "cut" scenes described above were included...I'll have to catch it again this year around Christmas and make a copy to see if they've now been cut...YTV plays this every year...

My copy I bought in the early 90's is missing all of those cuts EXCEPT the Stocking scene... that didn't get cut from my copy, but sadly everything else is. Luckily my girlfriend has the full copy from the original airing on ABC, so I can watch that copy with her.
