Rules:
"The Henson Conncections", where I mention some non-Henson/ Muppet/ Sesame Street production, book, or well-known person not regularly involved with the muppets, and each member posts one connection per post. I can pick a new subject every day (or whenever it looks like we have run out of connections).
Here are some examples:
TV/ Film production: Saturday Night Live.
1 connection: The Muppets made regular guest appearances during the shows first season.
2nd connection: Muppet performer Frank Oz has appeared in many movies with original SNL cast member Dan Akroyd, including both Blues brothers movies, Trading Places, and Spies Like Us (I think Dan Akroyd was in that).
Book connection: The Wizard of Oz.
1 connection: The muppets mad etheir own movie, The Muppets Wizard of oz, which was based on the original book.
well-known person: Leena Horn.
1 example: Leena Horne has made at least three appearances on Sesame Street, including the time that she sang "being green" with Kermit, when she sang "the alphabet song" with the anything muppets, and when she sang "How do you do?" with Grover.
2nd example: leena Horne was a gues tstar during the first season of The Muppet Show.

I thought that I would be able to pick a connection first, since I suggested this game.
Anyway, my first connection: The Beatles.
Henson-Beatles connection:
The beatles song Octopuses garden has been performed by The Muppets on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1971 (i think that's the year), on Sesame Street in 1969, and on The Muppet Show in the third season epsiode with James Coco.

how do we play
Something that has some connections with The Jim Henson Company gets chosen. After that, whenever something is listed, each poster lists one connection in each post, and try to wait awhile before posting another connection (Don't just keep posting right after you post). You can wait untill after somebody posts a connection, or you can wait a few minutes to post a connection.
I chose The Beatles as the first connection. At the end of the day, or sometime tomorrow, I will pick somebody to choose something else for us to make connections to. It would be somebody who has made a connection. Then that person would choose another subject, and that person would choose who gets to make the next connection.
The topic can be a person, place, or program (TV/ film/ book/ stage production).
You can read my first example for an idea of how to make a connection.

Well, it's been awhile since anybody last posted a connection between Henson and The beatles, so I will post another connection.
In one of their last appearances on saturday Night Live, Scred and The Mighty Favog told Chevy Chase to tell Lorne Michaels that if The Muppets continue to appear on the show, they can get The beatles to appear on the show for free. Of course, the Muppets didn't continue to appear, and the beatles couldn't all have a reunion on the show (Ironically, John Lennon, the first of the beatles to die, was the only beatle to never make any guest appearances on SNL).

I said to list one connection per post. Besides, the first one you listed was already posted by me, unless you were keeping track of the connections listed. If that is the case, then you didn't mention my post about the muppets offering to get the beatles on Saturday ight Live.
Anyway, here is another connection:
On Sesame Street, there was a Beatles parody group called The Beetles, who performed songs such as Letter B (a parody of Let It Be) and Hey Food (a parody of Hey Jude).

Here is another connection:
In The Muppet Show epsiode with Harvey Korman, during At The Dance, Zoot asks janice if he wants to come over to his place to listen to the Beetles. Janice msitakenly thought that Zoot was talking about the band and said that she loves their music, to which Zoot replies that he meant real beetles (ants, termites....).

Well, we have a few more hours before I choose somebody else to pick a subject for us to find a Henson connection with. This round will only last a little longer.
Another connection:
In the Muppets Tonight! episode with Tony Bennett, at the beginning, Johnny Fiama is showing off his Tony Bennett merchandise, and one of the items is an album called "Tony Bennets Lonely Hearts Club band", which supposedley came out "A week before those other guys". This album is a parody of The beatles album "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band."
Only a few mroe hours before I pick somebody who has participaited to pick a subject for the next round.....

No. The topic I picked was The Beatles. Members must post one conncection between The Beatles and anything that directly has to do with Henson. Anybody who participates gets a chance to be chosen to pick the next topic. I will pick somebody who has participated to choose the next topic. Do you understand now?

Well, this round is over. Mrs Pepper is the only member who has played this game properly. Mrs Pepper, you start the next round. Pick a topic, have us members (and yourself) list one connection per post, and then, when you are done, choose another forum member (who has played) to pick a topic tomorrow night.
By the way, here are some other Henson/ Beatles connections that nobody listed:
1. The Beatles songs Windy, Help!, and Yellow Submarine have all been performed on Sesame Street.
2. The Beatles songs I'm Looking Through You, In My Life, and She Loves You have been performed on The Muppet Show.
3. The Beatles song I Wanna Hold Your Hand was parodied as I Wanna Hold Your ear on Sesame Street.
4. Sgt. Floyd Peppers name and original outfit were inspired by the beatles album Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band.
5. The beatles song Come Together was performed by the Muppets on The Ed Sullivan Show.
Anyways, congraduations, Mrs Pepper. Choose a topic as soon as you can.

Steve Martin first hosted Saturday Night Live during the secodn season, after the muppets had stopped appearing on the show. The muppets only appeared regularly during the first season. The last time the Gorch muppets appeared on SNL was in the secodn season premier, hosted by Lilly Thomlin. The muppets didn't appear on the show again untill december 2004, with guest host Robert DeNiro.
Anyway, here is a connection:
Steve Martin was in Little Shop of Horrors, which was directed by muppet performer Frank Oz, included on-screen cameos by Jim Hensosn daughter, Heather Henson, and puppet builder Mak Wilson, nd also featured many Henson puppeteers (including Brian Henson) operating Audrey II.

According to the book Sesame Street Unpaved, the Sesame Street skit where Jim Carrey demonstrated happy feet and sad feet was originally written with Steve Martin in mind, but for some reason Steve Martin chose not to appear on Sesame Street (i'm not sure if he turned down a chance to be on the show, or if he was too busy, or what the deal is).

When A Muppet family Christmas was rerun on The Wonderful World Of Disney (or whatever the shows title was back then) in 1989 the special had a new introduction featuring kermit and Michael Eisner, where Eisner gave Kermit a copy of a Disney movie (I think) and Kermit gave Eisner a copy of MFC.

Here is the obvious Saturday Night Live/ Henson connection:
During the first season of saturday night live, the muppets were semi-regulars. Jim Henson created a new group of muppets, which included King Ploobis, Queen Peuta, Scred, The Mighty Fuvog (which is frquently spelled "Favog" in most refference books), Vash, and Wisss. However, these sketches were out of place with the format of the show, most of the cast and crew hated the Muppets, and only SNL writers (not henson writers, with at least one exception) were allowed to write the Muppet sketches. The following year, Jim henson had an offer to produce The Muppet Show in england so the muppets were no longer a part of Saturday Night Live.
