I know it's 2:30 a.m., but I'm watching Johnny and Sal with the guy who does Hollywood Squares do a telethon for MD... call 1800-FIGHT-MD. Anyone else see this?

I see them right now talking about humungatoid
I just tuned in. Its cool to see the Muppets. The producer in the booth let Sal direct 30 seconds of the show. So he kept cutting back and forth to different cameras. It was funny. Also, Statler and Waldorf are doing commentary between acts from their balcony too.

I don't have enough spare blank vhs cassettes required to tape this thing to get all of these bits, but I did just tape Johnny clog dancing, Johnny & Sal talking about a broom and some sauce, then the two of them singing a parody of "Bohemian Rhapsody" about Sal spilling the sauce. This is pretty good for something that I didn't know of until tonight (the appearance, not the telethon). Glad I stayed up till 4:30 am today. :zany:

Yeah! I didn't know they were going to be on either. Do you think we'll see more Muppets today?
I just saw them sing "Bohemian Rhapsody" in response to Sal spilling the sauce that Johnny's mother sent by FedEx to the telethon. I just loved Johnny doing a "do-be-do-be-do" type ending to the song. And, in unison, Johnny and Sal did the Wayne and Garth head-banging thing during the song.
If someone doesn't have the telethon locally you can watch on WGN (Chicago) if you have cable/satellite. Apparently on the Internet too but I haven't checked out the telethon site.

I missed it. I knew they'd be on the show because I saw it in an advertisement. If I had known exactly what time they'd be on, I would have taped it.

No, but really, like 2:30 in the morning? Not to be selfish, I mean it's for a telethon, but obviously they'd be using the muppets to pull in a few more viewers and pledges. But that early in the morning, most people are in bed, so it's kind of futile.
And I didn't realise that telethon is on right now. I should make a pledge, I have a friend with Muscular Dystrophy.

Now what is this telethon about?

Muscular Dystrophy, it's a disease where your muscles slowly weaken, so you can start off having a normal life but you can lose the use of your legs and end up in a wheelchair, your arms too possibly, eventually everything slowly stops working. I have a friend with Muscular Dystrophy who I've known since I was about 9, and I've had to watch him slowly get weaker, from a push-wheelchair to an electric one, and he can hardly move his arms now either. He gets me to push his glasses up for him. ;) But I can't even imagine how hard a life it must be for him and his family..
This telethon is on every year, and Jerry Lewis hosts it normally.

You know I watched quite a bit of this telethon and I think what Jerry Lewis does every year is great. I guess I just got to thinking most of the perfpormers that they bring on apeal to an older audience (a lot of vegas singers past their prime). It was a shame that the kind of thing that would encourage someone like me to watch (the muppets) came on at 2:30 in the morning ( I did catch Sal and Johnny around midnight before I went to bed Sunday... when they were saying they would be back at the wee hours to help host). I guess I wish them well but hope they learn to appeal to the next generation of donors so that their cause doesn't belly up (on the other hand they did bring in over 50 million dollars) :)

If anyone has Johnny and Sal singing "Bohemian Rhapsody" please let me know. I'd like to feature this on Muppet Central Radio if someone can assist.

If anyone taped if I would trade anything I have for that. I have a few of them on the last time they were on there. I do't have the whole thing taped just some of it. But I do have them both on there from the last one they did.
