Ryan,Colin,Wayne.. and the fourth comedian just depends..

This show is awesome.. During the school year,me and my friends would watch it every night and talk about it the next day during French class. I'm sorry to say, I haven't had much time to watch it this summer but I may try to check it out tonight or tommorow.

My favorite on the show is Ryan.. what about you?

Hey, if you like Whose Line so much, why not join my forum at The Kathy Greenwood Zone (http://www.freewebs.com/newgreenwoodsite/index.htm)? There's a catergory on the forum strictly for Whose Line. That Announcer and I started our own online version of "Scenes from a Hat" you might wanna join.

That's awesome, D'Snowth! I may have to just join later tonight.. I'll be getting off soon, and I probally won't be back on till about 11 tonight.

I haven't seen too many episodes with Kathy.

I used to watch it years ago but it's not on anymore. I can't really remember who any of them were, perhaps Ryan Stiles? Tall and skinnyish? Hmm. It was pretty funny though.

That's Ryan alright, or as Colin (the bald guy) says, "The Big Stick with the Big Nose on It".

D'Snowth, do you watch it every night? or at all anymore? Well, because I know that a lot of my friends have seen about every episode.

I watch it whenever I get a chance, especially any episode with Kathy. Other than that, if Brad Sherwood or Denny Seigel appear, I change the channel. I used to be a big Brad Sherwood fan, but he seems to be VERY overrrated.

After it went off the air in the UK. The US redid it in almost the xact same format except it was hosted by Drew Carey.

I like Greg Proops for some reason. I do like sound effects with Ryan and Colin.

Scenes from a hat is my favorite game then it's hollywood director. Colin is halarious as the director. I also like weird newscasters, news flash, hats, two line vocabulary, party quirks, lets make a date, worlds worst, irish drinking song, hoedown, and a few more I can't think of.

I didnt like when they used to do the celebrity guest stars like Whoopi Goldberg and Robin Williams. It seems like they couldnt do the improv in a TV appropriate manner. I think it takes more skill to keep it clean.

ryhoyarbie

I think Robin Williams could if you restrain the guy and not let him go over board.
But that's a very tough challenge.

How is Brad Sherwood overrated? To be honest, I think it is the opposite. He's a funny guy. I like him a lot, but I don't think he is overly praised or anything. The most we see of him is on Whose Line approx every other week.
I love the show. Use to watch it every week with my family when it was on ABC. I still watch it sometimes on ABC Family. I like the core group of players, the regulars--Ryan, Colin, Wayne, Greg, Brad, and Chip is pretty good too. I am not crazy about most of their guests, especially Denny Seigel and Kathy Greenwood. Sorry. This is not meant to be sexist, but I find NONE of the women that perform on the show funny. It seems so forced like they are trying to hard. I think Colin will always be one of my favorites. He never fails to make me laugh, even when he messes up or isn't trying. He is just such a silly man.

Also, another weird side note. I turned on the show yesterday and found a recent ex girlfriend as one of the people from the audience asked to help in a sketch. Totally bizarre and extremely surprised.

I was just saying he's overrated because it seems like anymore in reruns, 9 out of 10 times it's a Brad Sherwood ep. Used to, they'd kind give you a variety, but anymore it seems like it's always "Welcome to Whose Line Is It Anyway, on tonight's show...Brad Sherwood!" I understand, Kathy is really the only female I've noticed to be funny. I also think that a most of their female guests are underrated, and are only allowed to appear in certain games. Take Kathy for example, she never appears in a singing game (ie-Greatest Hits, Irish Drinking Song, Hoedown), she rarely appears in the final game (unless it's a Foreign Film Dub). Other than that, I never really found any of the other females to be funny (especially Denny Seigel), but again, like you, not trying to be a sexist! I too like Colin, he's got great comedic timing, and he can ALWAYS keep a straight face unlike the others, especially Wayne.

I hear ya. I was hoping you wouldn't get offended for me saying I didn't like Kathy Greenwood. She is ok. Every now and then she will do something that makes me laugh, but not too often. Used to like Denny a lot. I thought she was great at the rap scenes, but lately she is just obnoxious. Maybe Kathy Greenwood doesn't do singing games because she isn't strong at them. They aren't going to make her do something she isn't good at. They don't want her to look like an idiot. They all have their "specialty" games. Like Wayne doing all the singing stuff. He is an amazing singer and can come up with any song in any style on the spot. Colin and Ryan can't do that so they don't do those games.

By the way, my ex was in the game where she is in a scene with Ryan and Colin, but she can't actually talk. Brad was on the side supplying her voice.

Your ex? That's cool Bear!

I always preferred Ryan out of the main three. but of the guest comedians.. I never liked any of them that much.. maybe because I am so used to the three of them..

Oh and I used to only get 4 channels.. I don't watch tons of tv.. so it wouldn't matter much to me.. but yeah..

BTW, I saw Colin in an Oreo commercial the other day.. and I saw Ryan in a commercial the other day as well.. but I don't remember what it was for..

Colin was on This Hour has 22 Minutes for about 2 years, over a year ago. It's a half-hour satirical news program. They do news-casting, and have a few skits, alot of which are interviews or commercials. I believe Colin was part of this one sketch about history, and it took place in the 50's in black and white, as if it was one of those old informational videos, and the whole point of it was just being really politically incorrect, the way things were back then. It's amusing.

Yes he did. i think it was cancelled. Too bad, he was good at it. I think he was nominated for an Emmy for his show. He was also nominated for an Emmy for his work on Whose Line, not sure if he won though. He certainly deserved the nod.

I think Colin is always doing things in Canada and is sometimes in a few commercials. There is one out now.

Ryan is also in a commercial right now.

Drew is probably back doing more standup. He was often featured on the Tonight Show during the recent Michael Jackson trial doing MJ related jokes for Leno. Leno was a witness in the trial and so was not allowed to do any MJ jokes on the show. Instead, he called upon guest comedians to come out for a few minutes just to deliver the specific jokes for the daily monologue. I thought it was awesome. Drew grew out his hair and had a bit of a scruff on his face and it looks like he's lost some weight. Almost didn't recognize him.

Greg Proops is always doing little things here and there. He is still doing standup (I saw him on the Craig Furgeson show last night) and he does a lot of voice overs. You've probably heard him and not knew it. I recommend you all go through the credits on some of your Disney videos and look at the additional voices list. Also movies like Babe and Doctor Dolittle. films like that with a lot of voices. I am pretty sure he did some for the new Star Wars films. He used to have a game show a while back. Don't know what happened to it though. It was during the time Whose Line was on ABC.

Brad Sherwood shows up in comedy bits on the Tonight Show a lot.

thats all i can think of. Hope it helps you.

What's a farce?

MrsPepper
08-03-2005, 08:55 PM
A farce is a comedy, a parody, poking fun.

Trusty Dictionary.com says:
farce

n 1: a comedy characterized by broad satire and improbable situations [syn: farce comedy, travesty] 2: mixture of ground raw chicken and mushrooms with pistachios and truffles and onions and parsley and lots of butter and bound with eggs [syn: forcemeat]

Well, it's not the latter. :D

The show's title is a play-on words of course, indicating that it's a comedy show. ^__^

A great example of a farce would be the sitcom "Three's Company". A farce is often full of misunderstandings and physical comedy. Remember when they would have scenes on the show with, for example, Jack and Chrissy in the bathroom doing plumming work, and then Mr. Furley comes into the apt. and over hears their words assuming something else is going on (usually sexual) other than the facts. Then this leads to a bunch of comedic moments and stirring of trouble. Farce is a very british style.

Yeah, its not always about how you sound though. It also has to do with how well you can come up with something clever in rhyme and to a beat. Colin is an example of this. He is known for speaking the hoedown rather than sing it, and he used to be really bad at that game and to make up for it would either pretend to faint or start dancing. That was a long time ago. His hoedown verses are usually pretty funny though and what makes it funny is how he handles things when he screws up.

Agreed.

When I first started watching the show, I was more amazed at Wayne's witty and funny lines, and how he came up with them so fast than at his singing talent.
All of the performers got better at the singing skits, or the hoedowns as the show progressed, and it's cool to be able to see episodes from the beginning of the show and some from the end to see how much better they have gotten.

Agreed on all counts. I used to really like Wayne, and I always thought he was the funniest cast member, mostly because of his work with "Song Styles". THE TRUTH COMES OUT!!!!!!!!

If you read interviews, or get information from other Whosers saying that it was Kathy Greenwood's own choice to not participate in hoedowns, or other singing games...IT'S NOT TRUE!!!

Kathy herself said in a letter to one of my moderators at the KGZ forum that the producers wouldn't let her do those games. And in a recent e-mail to him from Laura Hall, Laura basically said the same thing.

Now am I the only one who thinks this is kinda unfair? I mean, they let just about everyone else do all kinds of singing songs, so why make Kathy sit out? She even said she wanted to do them too!

Ryan has NO expression! He's always so expression-less! And girls are ALWAYS talking about him!

Ryan drives me nuts! I much prefer Colin for the guys who are on Whose Line. I'm watching it right now in fact. It's an old one with Wayne, Ryan, Colin and that Denny chick who is no good. You'd be happy to know Snowth that of the females, I prefer Kathy!

Ditto. I don't know why some many people just worship her, but she drives me crazy! She's so homely looking, and her voice makes my skin crawl!

I think when they either have Greg Proops or Brad Sherrwood on, the show is funny. I'm not a fan of the women costars. They just don't come on as funny and seem to get outshined by their male friends.

I'm so sick of Brad. He's such a stage-hog. Even during the credit readings, he's always running around in circles all over the stage, while everyone else stay in one place.

It seems like Ryan wants to leave after the last game, instead of either reading the credits or be in the background while someone else reads the credits!!

Ryan always seems so dead! When he's not performing, or waiting to get instructions, it's like he's just a breathing, blinking statue. But you've got to admit, he's a hoot when he and Colin are in a scene together.

I'm a big fan of "Whose Line" too!:D Kind of tough to decide who's my favorite, though. Actually, I'd say Wayne. He's pretty funny.:)

It's funny how Wayne's popularity is started to drop drastically!

Oh yeah, and about the rest of the new "episodes", apparently, there still will be no new ones in February, HOWEVER, there's going to be a week-long event in March where they play a new "episode" each night. And apparently, from the sources I've heard, there's still some unaired footage of Denny, so that means we'll probably be treated to another episode with her.

And ideas and suggestions are being accepted for the development of the DVD, so make sure you send those in!

Yes, Ryan and Colin make a great team. i suppose that's why they are always teamed up together.

Some of their best work is in the games like who's line, greatest hits, and sound effects.

But I do have to say Brad does a great impression of B-52's lead singer, Fred Schneider.

Have you ever seen Colin and Brad live, though? They tour all over the place. I saw em last night. I saw em last year too at Warner Theatre, and they called my friend and I onstage to play New Choice. It was frickin awesome. :excited:
