What does everyone think of the cover art? I think it's a nice eye catching colorful cover, but Wembley looks too small compared to the others, hopefully this will be changed. It would be really nice if ALL NEW Fraggle poses and photos were taken for such a deluxe collectors edition set??

Maybe if this set sells well, they'll be put on one of the other seasons.

Or, you never know, there may be a few more 3 or 4 episode DVDs to be released with episodes from the later seasons and they might have them on. I mean, even if I knew they were going to eventually bring out all the season box sets, I'd still buy a single DVD if it had an episode I don't have.

Realistically, if they are going to release all the season sets it will take a minimum of five years at one set a year so there's plenty of scope for making more money out of us !!! :smirk:

I emailed Hit! and they responded saying it was a company decision to not include the Fraggle Rock animated episodes... :boo:

If more people email them requesting that they include some of the cartoons as extras on future sets, maybe it'll have some pull.

I'm dissapointed, this was the only draw of the single disc releases to me. I haven't seen the FR cartoon in 20 years and would've been such a nostalgia trip..

Email Hit! and let them know that we at the very least, want the animated epidoes that are currently on the single disc releases, ported over to the season sets.

Both Season One and the new single-disc are now at HIT's online store. Oddly enough, they don't list the bonus CD-ROM for S1:

http://www.hitstoreusa.com/videoanddvd1.html

On a side note, all this talk about TMS's Amazon ranking has drawn some attention to FR (maybe). As of now it's at #123, still four weeks before release.

Only "Lost S1" and "Charmed S2" are ranked higher for Sept. 6th!

That's a tad ungrateful all considering it's a show that hasn't seen the light of day in 20 years and I have great respect foR HIT to go out on a limb and release season sets so quickly just because the fans e-mail them about it. These are about the same amount if not more than the Batman TAS animated series season set so I'm thrilled and I actually love the box art.

Quickly and because of emails?

This decision has been mulled over for at least a year now. And are you familiar with Warricks petiton? A little more than a few fan emails..

I just emailed Hit about the animated series. If you visit the Hit Fraggle Rock Season 1 DVD page(http://www.hitstoreusa.com/frroboxsefis.html) You will see what the side of the package looks like, running time, and something intresting is "From a fun-loving group of furry subterranean creatures came millions of fans, 100 original songs. 96 total episodes, 5 seasons, but only one First Season Boxed Set." If Hit is willing to state all that maybe they will be putting out future season sets?

Online petitions(no offense to Warrick) don't do much mainly because anyone can sign them. But if I'm correct they had put out a product within a very short time of getting the rights and then just within a year are releasing season sets I'd say that's quite good.

Online petitions don't do much ...
I beg to differ. In the case of the Fraggles it did make a diffrence. Take a look at the official "Fraggle Rock: Complete First Season" press release: http://www.henson.com/company/070305.html

Here is just an excerpt:
"...After an online petition was signed by thousands of fans to get Fraggle Rock back into their homes, HIT Entertainment responded... Now, Fraggle Rock fans will finally get what they have been petitioning for, as the entire first season is released... "

There are many other articles, interviews, and statments that state that Fraggle Rock coming to DVD was made possible because of online petitions and campaigning. It may not have been 100% because of them, but I am sure that without the petitions the Fraggles would not currently be getting the DVD treatment that they being given right now.

HIT Entertainment will support the much-anticipated DVD release of Fraggle Rock Complete First Season with an online campaign targeting the generation of men and women who grew up with the show.

This is from July 3rd. Should we have seen this by now?

Sounds very cool...

JamminJake, did you ever hear back from Hit! regarding the animated episodes?

I dont see the point in owning the individual releases with a complete season 1 on the horizon, but I really want to have some of the animated episodes to watch again, if only a couple! Just for the smiles brought back from obscured and fading Saturday morning memories of decades past....

I really hope these are made available on future sets, even a single bonus episode! I'll take whatever they offer... we really shouldn't be losing anything from the individual releases.

Me: Please put the animated Fraggle Rock series on DVD by its own or since
there is only 13 episodes include a few episodes on each DVD box set!
Since there will be 5 of them you could include 2 or 3 episodes per
set (1 episode per disk, really)

Hit!: Thank you for contacting us. At this time, there are not any plans to
put the animated series only onto DVD.

Thank you for your interest in HIT Entertainment.

I've only seen one episode of the show, but I would love more! Well, atleast we will get all of the Disney cartoons now..

Oliver

I'm sure if they got 3 or 4 simple emails a day, it would happen.

13 episodes is nothing, they could probably handle that with a 2-disc slimline keepcase release. Very little would be involved and it wouldn't cost much to produce either.

If anyone is remotely interested in seeing these cartoons again, even just a couple, write to Hit! A short and simple email like Jake sent is more than enough, it doesn't take more than 3-4 minutes of your time and it would help in persuading Hit! that there is a market for people who want to see these again. I'll even take a simple 5 or 6 episode compilation!

Anyways, I'd urge more people to forward an email over asking about these cartoons. Look what happened with FR... It can't hurt.

In June it was reported that the "Fraggle Rock - Complete First Season" DVD box set would come with a bonus CD-ROM full of all kinds of Fraggle fun. However since this was originally announced, HIT Entertainment has decided to offer this only as a special store exclusive for Best Buy retail stores. The special CD-ROM will included Fraggle Rock desktop themes, screensavers, wallpaper and an all new desktop game called "Fraggle Rock: Jump & Munch". Best Buy will be offering the Fraggle Rock season 1 box set with the exclusive CD-ROM enclosed -- the CD-ROM will not be available anywhere else. So if you want the bonus CD-ROM, be sure to pick up your copy at you local Best Buy, or order your copy from Bestbuy.com (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7271463&type=product&id=1446107).

well I was lucky enough to get an advance copy of both Fraggle Rock Season One & Doing What Doozers Do. I have yet to watch both of them but until now i thought i might be able tp provide some cool info.

Apart from a leaflet inside Doing What Doozers Do there's not much i can say about it without watching it. The same Leaflet is found in the FR season One Boxset so more on that later,

The box itself features Uncle Matt on one side and Sprocket on the other plus the Fraggles on the front of the cover have a sort of shine to them. If you feel the box the Fraggle characters as well as the Doozers are bumpy, not quite sure how to explain it.

When you open the box you find eveything inside comes like ppages from a book. Each disc has a picture of a Fraggle and the "page" beside the disc gives you a very detailed summary of each episode found on the disc.

The fifth disc which features Wembely gives us a little more detail on the nex exclusive Fragle Rock cast and crew intervies.

Here's what it has to say:

Get down with Fraggle Rock as you listen to key performers, creators and producers of the show who reunited in early 2005 to discuss the series in exclusive intervies. This feature includes clips from the show, never-before-seen Photos, early drawings of the world of fraggle rock and previousley unreleased excerpts of auditions for the show. Gain insight into the Fraggles' world as the group discusses topics such as the origins of Fraggle Rock, the "muppet way" of puppeteering and more! Others topics include: the casting of the show, the writting and production of the series, and recollections of the puppets workshop.

Sounds really intresting, I can't wait to see it. Unfortunatly I probably wont get around to it till tommorow. So if there's any questions about the set that you'd lik to know let me know and i'll try to answer the best i can.

Ps the Jim Henson replica notebook looks very intresting but it seems like Jim wasn't the tidiest of writers so i'll have to leave that for tommorow too but it looks very intresting

The Woogle World, good thing they changed it to FRAGGLE ROCK!

Edit: I almost forgot abot the little leaflet, sadly I don't really have that much time but it says to check out www.zazzle.com for some cool Fraggle Fun. I'm not sure if it's up yet i havn't checked myself but from what it says here we can make our own cards, t-shirts and posters

lets see what that's about

well I just finished watching the New Fraggle Rock Documentry and I must say I am very pleased, very, very, very pleased. So pleased in fact that for the first time in my life I am going to actually write to a company and thank them for their hard work.

Everyone you'd expect is there (not including Kathy Mullen). It's a very long special feature but that's good, overall i enjoyed it very much especially when Jerry Nelson explained the diffrence between Gobo's voice and Robins I found that very intresting.

At the end of it all Hit was kind enough to give special thanks to the fan by stating that we help keep the magic alive.

I'm very tired so unfortunatly I don't want to go to in deph plus I rather you all see it and enjoy it for yourselfs. Trust me this dvd is worth it for this new documentary on it's own

King Prawn
08-26-2005, 08:49 PM
There was Jerry Juhl, his wife (who's name escapes me at the moment) Steve Whitmere, Dave Goelz, Jerry Nelson (though he was interviewed on his own) Karen Prell as well as three others one wh I think was the producer I don't ecall their names.

I'll fill everyone in on all the details tommorow, I really need to get some sleep now :)

I assume that the opening and closing titles for each episode have been re-done. Is this correct? Also - are the episodes "strung together" on each disc? And are they all complete (as far as you can tell)? And do they have the alternate openings with Gobo and Wembley (http://forum.muppetcentral.com/showthread.php?t=7306) on episodes #8 and #12? (I assume not)

Hi King Prawn,

Is the Behind-the-Scenes documentary (the 1987 one narrated by Jim Henson) complete and uncut? When introducing the puppeteers Jim mentions their previous "Muppet" work, or that they worked on "The Muppet Show".

With the ridiculousness of copyrights these days, I'm not sure if it extends to just the use of the word "Muppet".

Silly as it may seem, I've been wondering. Thank you.

I watched the bonus features and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!the interviews are at least an hour long maby even an hour and a half,it features drawings, and film of the tryouts which features jerry nelson doing boober, steve doing gobo (which sounds alot like his kermit) an dave doing wembly,it also features karen doing mokey and katheryn doing red, this was when they were trying to figure out who was going to do what voice, the down at fraggle rock appears to be what I remembered it to be back when I first saw it,and yes the episodes all have beginning and end credits all original saying "featuring jim hensons muppets" ,the note pad is a little scratchy but I read it and it's interesting to see how the woozles evolved into the fraggles, the wozles evolved into the gorgs and the wizzles evolved into the doozers, the rest you'll have to find out for your self (don't want to give away too much)I think season two should have reproductions of the original drawings/sketches made for the show, also I would like to see a 30 track "best of" c.d.featuring their "hits"maby as a bonus disc on a future set.......

The special feature are all found on disc 5 where as each of the other disc comes with 6 episodes each. The Menus are not as nice as the ones on the single release and keep an eye out for how the word Doozer came to be, it's a very intresting interview.

The people interviewed were:

Karen Prell
Steve Whitmere
Dave Goels
Jerry Nelson
Jerry Juhl
Duncan Kenworthy - Co-Creator, International Producer
Jocelyn Stevenson Co-creator/writer
Lawrence Mirkin - producer
Susan Juhl - Script Editor

that's all of them plus their some footage which oter people such as Micheal Frith (i hope i spelled his name right)

I'm now going to try an attempt to unlock the bonus episode which i can never do without watching the three normal episodes on the disc first and sinc ei've been so keen on watching some season 1 episodes such as marooned i havn't gotten round to watching them yet.

Hopefully tonight i can let you all know what the bonus episode is

Hey, that's one of the ones I was predicting. I figured it'd be a Doozer tangential one, either this or "Boober and the Glob", and come to think of it, another bonus episode, the one on "Dance Your Cares Away", was "Home is Where the Trash Is". Maybe this is a good indication of how to predict (or maybe not, as there were only two Philo & Gunge centered episodes to my recollection).

I haven't seen the DVD of Fraggle Rock Season I, in fact since I don't have cable I couldn't even see it back when it was on TV. However, I bought a Fraggle Rock song album back during the VHS era and one of my favorite songs on it was "Is It True" I liked the song's gospel beat and style. I prompted me to buy the tapes of the Fraggle Rock episodes to find out which episode this song was in. While I had a lot of fun watching the four two episode tapes that were released, unfortunately none of them had that song in either of the episodes. :(
I am hoping to get the DVD of each season as they come out and watch the whole series. Does anybody know during which season it was that that song came out.

Season Two. It's from episode #35, "The Wizard of Fraggle Rock", sung by a shifty wizard who looks an awful lot like Wembley.

If you ever want to find more FR info, probably the best web resource is Chris's Fraggle Rock Page (http://www.punchandjewelry.com/legacy/html/frindex.htm). It has an episode guide, song index and lyrics, guide to all things of the FR world, and a performers/directors/writers guide.

Yes!! I was afraid that they couldn't use the word "Muppet" in anything related to Fraggle Rock (they certainly did that for most of the 3-episode DVDs). Thank goodness they remained intact.

As for the original drawings: ditto. It seems that original Fraggle drawings are very hard to find.

That's great to hear. I wasn't crazy about that new logo (anyone else feel that way?) I loved the original 'rock' logo and was disheartened when it was replaced for the new videos. That original logo just had such a classic feel, the font and design were just so perfect for the series. Also good to know we'll have (presumably) the original credits, since the new ones for the 3-episode DVDs were riddled with mistakes (anyone else catch them?)

The only thing I don't like about the new logo is at the beginning of the theme, it completely obstructs the Fraggles in the scene; you can barely see Boober and Red.

As for end credits, yes, I noticed the mistakes as well (most notably the episode titles: "Wembly and the Gorg" ?!).

i thought it was funny on the trivia, how they totally let you know before you even started what the bonus episode was going to be. did anyone else pick up on that? i was hoping it wasn't going to be that episode though..it's not one of my favorites...and the trivia was TRICKY. lol. but got through it and found out that it was the foreshadowed episode. verrrrrrrrrrrrrrry interesting
