I'm starting a new thing here: an updating survey. The way it works is that every Friday, the old survey questions will be replaced by ten new, fresh survey questions, at least two of which will be Muppet related. There is no limit to how many questions can be put up. I will do all the question creation for a short while, but will consider 'passing the torch' (so to speak) onto others eventually. Here's the first 10:

1) Do you own an iPod?

2) Are you married?

3) Who is your favorite Jerry Nelson character from TMS?

4) Have you ever seen "The Phantom of the Opera" in live theater?

5) Can you play an instrument?

6) "Dark Crystal" or "Labyrinth"?

7) What do you have with your cereal?

8) Do you have satellite TV?

9) Do you have a high ratio of VHS tapes to DVDs?

10) Does Sweetums frighten you?

Here's another thread I never clicked on before. This was a pretty neat idea, That Announcer. Okay, I'll attempt the latest survey myself. Hope my answers don't make me look even more like Bert (on the boring and square side. But hey, I AM 38 after all, keeheehee!):

1) Do you like jazz music? Naw, never got into it much.
2) Which is your favorite Palisades repaint/exclusive? Not familiar with these.
3) Have you ever owned a View-Master? About 30 years ago and loved it! Very interesting that I happened to mention viewmasters in a post a couple days ago (first time I thought about them in years) and now here it appears on your survey!
4) Who is your favorite stand up comic? In the late 70's was Steve Martin but then in the late 80's became Bobcat Goldthwait. Rahhhrrrrr!!!!
5) Are you a huge Harry Potter fan? Yeah, I'm pretty overweight. Just kidding! I never read the books or saw the movies.
6) What is your favorite band from the '70s? Styx. They were a band I tended to like ALL the songs on their albums and not just the one big hit that you'd so often buy a tape or album for and pretty much only like that one. (Note: There's another similarity to Bert, here. Bert also liked Styx (except it was sticks. He said he dreamed about those little twigs remember?)
7) What's your favorite fried food? Lot of choices here. Either onion rings or KFC I'll pick.
8) Which subject in school is/was your worst? Calculus. Ironically, Math was my best subject through Algebra. Then Geomoetry and Trig were harder. But Calculus was a nightmare.
9) Who is your favorite female Muppeteer? Gotta go with the classic Fran Brill.
10) Do you eat those Werther's Originals candies? No. Don't eat much of any candy, although just recently began buying some dark chocolate because they say it's a health food ( in moderation. But boy is it hard to eat chocolate in moderation, eh? Heh heh, one article I saw recommended eating half a bar a day. Guess how often I've been able to save that other half till the next day? That's correct. :) )

Cool, that was pretty fun, thanks.

Well, you're not alone. A visit there in the Massachusetts location was the highlight of my last trip. Had the chicken-fried steak and a Diet Coke, all great food. The robots all suffered from Ronald Reagan Disease (based on a Robin Williams joke, where every time they move you can almost here the "reeeet"), but nevertheless they made for a good time along with my (over?) perky waitress. I'd kill to get back, or have one opened here. But of course, this is Halifax, what was I thinking? :)

Yeah, I always thought the animals were fun, too. I just don't think I would want to sit at a table right next to one of those hungry apes, if you know what I am talking about. I wish they would animate the birds. Maybe have them fly across the cieling or something.

Hey, I did! Wasn't that bad, actually. I personally do not want to sit next to the elephants... well, let's just say that if my Ma gets soaked unexpectedly, it can be fatal.

6) Do you prefer to use plastic, wooden or metal rulers? Plastic, but all the ones I had at home and school were almost always wooden.

1) Do you like "Peanuts"? (The comic, not the food.) Yup. I have a lot of little statues and comic books.
2) Have you read any Al Franken books? Two. The Rush Limbaugh one, and "Lies". I thoroughly enjoyed both.
3) Which of the forthcoming Muppet DVDs do you plan on buying? All of 'em!
4) What is your favorite cookie? My local grocery store's chocolate chip.
5) Is there a CD burner in your computer? Yes. There's also a DVD player, but I haven't used it in a year or so.
6) What music does the radio station you listen to play? "Classic rock". (Read: Weiner music along the lines of REO Speedwagon. Blame my mother.)
7) Have you ever been outside of your native country? A few times to the States, and perhaps to England next summer.
8) Do you like "Leave it to Beaver"? Marginally better than I like "Happy Days", but I'm not a great fan of either.
9) Dr. Teeth or Rowlf? Rowlf. Two words: "Vet's Hospital".
10) Does your computer mouse have a mouse ball or a laser? Laser.

Oh boy! I love the weekly survey!

1. I love Good Ol' Charlie Brown.
2. Not that I recall.
3. Most likely The Muppets' Wizard of Oz.
4. Chocolate Chippy!
5. I wish.
6. "Good times and great oldies from the 60's and 70's!"
7. No, but I almost went to Mexico with my mom and her traveling friend.
8. I love the early episodes with Larry Mondello.
9. Both.
10. Mouse ball, but I prefer laser. They're so cool!

Maybe I should come up with a survey sometime.

7. No, but I almost went to Mexico with my mom and her traveling friend.

It's ironic, as that sounds EXACTLY like the tagline of a radio station up my way! "Oldies 96, good times and great oldies. I'm Frank Lowe, and here's Bobby Vinton!" (Good times my butt. Bobby Vinton sucks.)

Yippee it's this time once again!

1) Do you like "Peanuts"? (The comic, not the food.) Yes, though I thought it declined in brilliance in its later years. But the old 60's paperback collection of the strips were hilarious and the tv specials and movies were a lot of fun. I love the theme music. It sticks in my head quite a while afterwards upon hearing it.
2) Have you read any Al Franken books? No. And twenty years from now I guarantee you the answer will still be the same. :)
3) Which of the forthcoming Muppet DVDs do you plan on buying? Looking forward to the Muppet Show season 1.
4) What is your favorite cookie? I love the Nestle Toll House Oatmeal Scotchies at Boston Market. Boy what flavor!
5) Is there a CD burner in your computer? No, but I do have a dvd player that I didn't realize I did, thanks to you. So perhaps I have a cd burner too? But I thought that's something you have to purchase when you buy your computer (kind of like A/C when buying a car).
6) What music does the radio station you listen to play? One plays Christian music and the other plays classic rock from the 60's, 70's and 80's.
7) Have you ever been outside of your native country? Yes, to Toronto, Canada (I have relatives there) and the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.
8) Do you like "Leave it to Beaver"? I like so many old sitcoms but this is one I never much cared for. It just didn't make me laugh very much. And they all (especially Wally and June) talked so much in monotone without much emotion or human realism. And the beave rather annoyed me.
9) Dr. Teeth or Rowlf? Rowlf
10) Does your computer mouse have a mouse ball or a laser? ball. laser is probably slightly higher in price, right?

These are fun. Be great to do it all over again next week. :)

Yeah, that's Frieda. She was one of the earlier characters, like Shermy and Patty.

Ah, Patty, my second-favorite Peanuts character (right after Snoopy).

"Hey, whatcha doin' there, Chuck?"

D'Snowth
07-30-2005, 11:52 AM
This is a different one. This Patty like I said was an early character (and more feminine than Peppermint Patty). She always wore a yellow, checkered dress and matching bow. Oh, I just remembered abother early character, Violet. Basically, like Lucy, only with shorter hair, and wore a green dress. Aren't Peanuts fun? Every year, I look forward to seeing "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!" in October, "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" in November, and "A Charlie Brown Christmas" in December.

Think the Great Pumpkin...

CHARLIE BROWN: Hey! I got an invitation to a Halloween party!
LUCY: Is it an invitation to Violet's party?
CHARLIE BROWN: Yes, it's the first time anyone's ever invited me to a party!
LUCY: Charlie Brown, if you got an invitation to Violet's party it was a mistake, there were TWO lists. One to invite, and one NOT to invite. You must've been put on the wrong list!

Actually after a bit of confusion on another forum I found out the generic US word for a biscuit is 'cracker'. An American 'biscuit' is something akin to cobbler and is served with gravy.

'Cookie', I believe, refers to the specific kind of biscuit that's usually soft and a bit crumbly or chewy.

Ginger Nuts do rule though, along with rich tea...*scurries off to raid biscuit barrel*

2. Does the American Tail series count?

4. Ooooh that's a toughie, but since you said "fresh squeezed lemonade", then I'll go for that!
5. I used too, I still like his song "Just Eat It".

8. All of the Pixar classics.
9. Telly because he's a worry-wort like me! Oscar because he's cool.
10. I usually don't buy new books unless I'm interested in that subject. I've been trying to ge a copy of that new Elizabeth Montgomery biography for months, but now I given up. Okay Richard Dawson, time to hear you say it again: "Survey says!"

If we ever get 100 users here at MC to reply to these surveys then Family Feud could use them on the show! (Some of them anyway, like "how much do you spend on books each month." Obviously not ones like "Grover or Cookie Monster?" :) ).

1) Is there a cordless phone anywhere in your house? Yes, I've had one for about five years and love being able to walk around and accomplish things while talking on the phone. And makes it nicer if you're ever waiting forever with a company "on hold" ("Your call is important to us. Someone will be with you shortly. Please stay on the line." Music . Repeat of quote). This way instead of just sitting there frustrated, I can accomplish something while waiting. :)
2) What is your favorite Steven Spielberg movie? Jaws was a masterpiece but even better to me is Raiders of the Lost Ark.
3) Around what time do you intend to buy TMS S1? Ordered it from Amazon.
4) Kool-Aid or fresh squeezed lemonade? The latter. Especially this time of year.
5) Do you like "Weird Al" Yankovic? He's done some bizarre but interesting things. Ever hear one called, "Nature trail"? A friend of mine played it for me in the mid or late 80's. It's like a spoof of the Friday the 13th movies. It's wild and outrageous, yet funny and catchy to listen to.
6) What provider is your main E-mail address with? (MSN, Yahoo, Adelphia, etc.) AOL but use MSN fairly often too.
7) Do you prefer the original "Willy Wonka" film, or the new one? Haven't seen new one.
8) What is your favorite Disney animated movie? A lot of great ones like Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast. But my vote goes to Pinocchio.
9) Telly or Oscar? Grover vs. Cookie was hard. This is a piece of cake, though. Oscar.
10) How much per month do you spend on books? I love to read but like Janice I pretty much buy in spurts. I also like to reread books I've liked. And the Bible, of course, I reread a lot but the fascinating thing is that so many times it's like reading it for the first time.

TY TA, for another fun survey. :)

It's time to take the survey! It's time to answer right! It's time to see the questions on the Weekly surv tonight! (Had to make survey one syllable to coincide with the proper amount of syllables of TMS theme. And I don't have to put on make-up or dress up because no one can see me!)

1) How many peanut butter sandwiches do you eat a month? Zero. I was never big on even peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Yet I like peanut butter okay (on things like crackers and celery, for instance).
2) What was the last movie you saw? Follow That Bird (about a week ago. been watching a lot of Twilight Zones and TMS season one, since).
3) Pepe or Elmo? Same as D'Snowth's answer: Pepe if I HAD to choose one.
4) Do you normally use pens or pencils for writing? Pens 99.9% of the time. And 99.9% of the time it is with a Bic 4 color pen. I like being able to use red or green ink to highlight certain things when necessary.
5) What type of chair do you have for a computer? A real good one! Got a brand new comfortable office chair just about a month ago. Prior to that was using a not very good one that I'd tend to sit hunched forward when at the comp. Not good for the back. But this one is great.
6) Mr. Bean or Monty Python? Never saw Mr. Bean. I'd say Monty Python anyway because I like John Cleese, especially in Fawlty Towers and A Fish Called Wanda.
7) How often do (or did) you not have your homework done? About 95% of the time I did my homework. The amazing thing is, on the occasions when I did not do my homework it always seemed to be then when the teacher would collect it!
8) Do you like Twinkies? Oh yeah. Ate those tasty golden sponge cakes a lot as a kid. Haven't had one in a long time. Sara Lee is a lot better! But Twinkies were my favorite of the Hostess products.
9) Who was your favorite TMS S1-only character? George the Janitor
10) Do you have a role model, and if so, who are they? Jesus Christ. As far as modern earthly role models, I was thinking there are a lot of people I have admired a great deal but didn't ever really consider a role model. Then I saw JaniceFerSure and RedBoobergirl's responses and I said, "Oh of course! I forgot all about my family!" I would definitely consider my mother a role model, and also my late Uncle Jack.

1) How many peanut butter sandwiches do you eat a month? Approximately none (well, actually exactly none)
2) What was the last movie you saw? War of the Worlds
3) Pepe or Elmo? I've never thought about it, Pepe can be funny...
4) Do you normally use pens or pencils for writing? Pencils
5) What type of chair do you have for a computer? A really nice one. An office chair you'd call it: wheel's, moves up and down, back and forward. *sits back* This is one heck of a chair!
6) Mr. Bean or Monty Python? Oh, that's a tough comparision. Monty Python is a great sketch show for its wordy writing style, Rowan Atkinson is great in phsical comedy.
7) How often do (or did) you not have your homework done? Never, unless I really genuinley didn't know that I was meant to do something.
8) Do you like Twinkies? If I knew what they were I'd tell you
9) Who was your favorite TMS S1-only character? Hilda; she should reallyhave stayed on backstage...
10) Do you have a role model, and if so, who are they? Err, for the moment Hilda; she should really have stayed on backstage... Seriously? it depends what aspect of life you mean in!

4) Do you normally use pens or pencils for writing? Pens 99.9% of the time. And 99.9% of the time it is with a Bic 4 color pen. I like being able to use red or green ink to highlight certain things when necessary.
In school, the only ones allowed to use red ink was the teachers. I also had a friend who would always do his schoolwork in green ink. BUT, I always prefered blue ink, and when I draw and do cartoons, I prefer black ink.

4) Do you normally use pens or pencils for writing? Pencils.
5) What type of chair do you have for a computer? A wheelie chair with a nice springy back I got from the dump, it is the best office type chair I've ever sat in.
6) Mr. Bean or Monty Python? Hmm, Fawlty Towers. :)
7) How often do (or did) you not have your homework done? Only when I was in school, since I was homeschooled mostly, I didn't have homework.
8) Do you like Twinkies? Oh yeah, mmm mmm good!
9) Who was your favorite TMS S1-only character? George the janitor, dunno if he's season one only or not, but I think he is.

The teachers at my school don't care what kind of ink you write in so long as it's legible. I've handed in work in several colors, the most extreme of which was a lime green pen I borrowed from a friend in a rush. Not dark green. Lime. As in something around this. Usually, I'll only use one pen: a black fountain. I buy them in fives, and they last a while. Beautiful things.
