I received 'Live by the Rule of the Rock' today, and here's what was on the back of the insert inside the disc:

Coming Fall 2005 Fraggle Rock Season 1 Box Set (http://home.nc.rr.com/thejoyofwriting/Signatures/fraggle_season1.jpg) (click to see a scan of the insert)

So does this constitute official definite final word from HIT on the subject? Can we begin celebrating now? :excited:

Kassi,

Thanks for the info. Yep, that's good as gold. What we have been saying for months is now official. Can't wait for season 1 (and hopefully the other seasons to follow).

Whoopie! It is about time we got HIT to give anyone a clear sign, and that insert is pretty clear.

I am trying to get more details and information from HIT on this excellent news...but being that it is Saturday (and most of HIT is out until Monday) you'll all have to wait a few days until (hopefully) I can dig up some more information on the release. I can't wait!

Not really and no, seeing as it's pretty much the exact same flyer copy we got on the first disk... :smirk:

"Official definite final" has a date, price and cover art on it.

That's not true at all. I have both the barebones and Special Edition versions of the "Where It All Began" volume and neither of them included an insert about Boxed Sets coming. Just that more Fraggle Rock was coming to DVD in 2005, which it did. And is. And will continue to. This insert actually says... well, look at it.

Not really and no, seeing as it's pretty much the exact same flyer copy we got on the first disk...The flyer insert that came with "Where it All Began" back in July 2004 did not mention season sets. That ad simply said more Fraggle DVDs will be coming starting fall 2004 and more did come starting in October 2004 (Where it all Began Special Edition, followed by Dance your Cares Away). To quote exactly it said "More Fraggle Rock to come to video & DVD Fall 2004". That ad was 100% correct.

This insert specificly says "Season 1 Box Set" will be coming in the fall. They would not be this specific unless it was true (they would have said something like "More Fraggle Rock to come to video & DVD Fall 2005", but they were specific enough to mention Season 1 box sets - that is a clear sign).

I wonder why they did not mention "Doin' Things that Doozers Do" video/DVD planned for September 9, 2005.

Oh, wasn't saying it wasn't true--

Just that saying, say, "October 2005" (to use a Disney example) would be more of a clear indication that it was anywhere near to being finished at this exact moment...
At the moment, they're just telling us what we know already, and what we know is that that's not enough to celebrate just yet.

(...And why isn't there a Boober smiley for posts like this?)

This is wonderful news!

I guess all that letter writing and phone calls have done the trick. I think it would be very nice for all of us, upon purchasing our sets this fall, to call or write to HIT again just to thank them for listening to us, the fans. I know the folks at HIT would appreciate it.

Here's to season one and hopefully the rest of the seasons to come :)

Remember a couple of years ago, when even a little 3 episode disk seemed like the impossible dream? When we were all eagerly siging Warrick's petition, hoping to see a couple of episodes on disk, but deep down feeling it couldn't be done?

Hit picked up distribution, unexpectedly. Then "Where it al Began" was released to Wal*mart as a test disk. We all felt like it was a crazy dream. It wasn't too long before the special edition and "Dance your cares away" were released. We kept hitting Hit hard with constant e-mails about season sets...

Now, my dear muppet fans, we are finally in the golden zone, where dreams come true. We finally get to reap the benifits of years of hard fan pestering work, and DVD box sets are not just a possibility, but a reality!

We have come so far since 2002, haven't we? :excited: :smirk:

I'm sure there is nobody who does not fall into cheers about season 1 set being released in fall this year!

It was just a matter of time for HIT to step to this next level.

Getting the news these days gives me the hope of a season 2 set being released somewhat in early 2006, season 3 in fall. What do you think?

I hope they develop a continous design for all of the sets, because i like some accuracy in my dvd-shelf ;-).

I've been away for a week and then something like this has happend :excited:

and Vibs you can get them. You can use www.axelmusic.dk (http://www.axelmusic.dk) to import the fraggle DVD's from the US. The prices on the site includes everything and theres no risk of running into a extra costs since they ship from Canada to Germany and it gets repacked in Germany and then shiped to you in Denmark that way the high danish tax rate on DVD's is avoided.

I have some more good news, the release time-frame has been narrowed from a vague season (fall 2005) to an exact month (September 2005). HIT is now stating officially that the box set is due for release this September - just a little over four months away. They don't know the exact date yet, but it will be in September (as all DVDs are released on a Tuesday in the US it will be either 9/6/05, 9/13/05, 9/20/05, or 9/27/05). The exact date will be released soon.

So does that mean the 'Doozer' DVD is getting the axe? >.>No, HIT is planning to release both. They hope to continue the single-disc 3-episode DVD releases for the casual/younger fans, and also produce the box sets for the hard-core fans/collectors. They will be releasing both products, and hope to continue producing more single-disc and box set releases in the future (as long as they sell well). They feel that the single-disc and box sets reach out to diffrent type of fans and markets.

The "Doozer" DVD is still coming too and so is Season 1. And they hope to continue making more of each type of product.

So now we've got Fraggle Season 1, Fraggle single-discs, Muppet Show Season 1, out-of-print Muppet Show single-discs, and more SS DVDs than one could possibly count. So- what should we ask for next? We've gotten our way so far...

I suggest special editions of the Columbia movies, widescreen special editions of the Disney movies, SS Season 1 and Muppets Tonight! Season 1.

I think SS Season 1 would be cool on DVD, but 35 years' worth? oof.

MT! lasted for two seasons before getting the axe. ( ) The second season was carried over to the Disney Channel.

GelflingWaldo

Muppets Tonight only lasted one season, didn't it? There were two (2) seasons of Muppets Tonight produced. During the two seasons there were 22 total episodes made (that is equal to the size of just one of the Muppet Show's seasons). It would be cool if Disney release a box set of "Muppets Tonight - The Complete Series" after they finish all five Muppet Show - the complete season box sets.

Fraggle Rock - Season 1 Release Month Named even as HIT! Shareholders approve buyout offer
Posted by David Lambert
5/02/2005

Just over a week ago we showed you proof that HIT! Entertainment is indeed bringing out season sets of the Fraggle Rock series in the Fall. Now the folks at "The GelflingWaldo Files" bLog site are reporting that September is the month in question, and names the episodes that you'll find on this set:

1. Beginnings
2. Wembley and the Gorgs
3. Let the Water Run
4. You Can't Do That Without a Hat
5. The 30 Minute Work Week
6. The Preachification of Convincing John
7. I Want To Be You
8. The Terrible Tunnel
9. The Lost Treasure of the Fraggles
10. Don't Cry Over Spilt Milk
11. Catch the Tail by the Tiger
12. The Finger of Light
13. We Love You Wembley
14. The Challenge
15. I Don't Care
16. Capture the Moon
17. Marooned
18. The Minstrels
19. The Great Radish Famine
20. The Garden Plot
21. New Trash Heap in Town
22. Gobo's Discovery
23. Mokey's Funeral
24. The Beast of Bluerock

Info about extras wasn't available yet, nor a specific release date. Stay tuned for information about that, and keep tuned in after that to be sure that changes don't occur as a result of HIT! Entertainment's pending change of ownership. Last time we mentioned that, we told you that Lions Gate Entertainment and Classic Media were among the bidders. Classic Media has now pulled out of the horserace, and another suitor, Apax Partners, has put forth a bid that HIT!'s shareholders have found acceptable. Lions Gate has a limited amount of time to tender a counter-bid, and if they don't do it or fail to make an offer that's preferable to Apax's, then - according to a Video Business report in the new issue - the Apax deal would be finalized around the end of this month. We will have to wait to see if any of that makes a difference to Fraggle Rock or any other of HIT's releases planned for later this year. Our thanks to reader George Oscar for his tip-off about the bLog listing.

It says September 6. Is that right? That is unsure. I've contacted HIT about this several times. And HIT has yet to comment on the exact release date; all they are saying is "September 2005". Not to put Amazon down or anything, but they have been wrong before in stating release dates for pre-released items (especially when an item's exact date is not released so they end up guessing). Until HIT officially states the date I would not consider this one the definitive date. It is possible - just not official...yet.

I remember Gamestop had Devil May Cry 3 listed as a March 2nd release. When in fact the game didn't come out until later that month.

I bring that up, since Amazon might be using the 6th of September as a way to say to consumers: "Hey, this'll be coming out xxxx month!" Release dates can and will change (speaking as a gamer who's been through so many delays of her favorite games) so I wouldn't be surprised if the DVD set was out near the end of September at the very least.

Actually the print out ad said "Fall 2005", but the HIT consumer relations are now conferming it to be "September 2005" -- the exact date has not been announced but September 6 is very possible.

I pre-ordered my FR Season 1 the other day on Amazon. Good deal too if you don't mind waiting a day or two for the shipping. With the new figures hitting in July, TMS season 1 in August, and the new Henson book shortly there after FR hits (plus a video game or two I rerally want), i figured I'd try and save a little cash so I went with Amazon. I'm hoping I can find a good deal on TMS somewhere when it comes out.
