Hurricane Charley

Just wanted to post while I still could before the power and phone lines go out completely that Hurricane Charley is straight on track to hit right where I live. (Tampa/St Pete area)

This laptop is very picky about connecting as it is, and I probably will be without access to Muppet Central Forums for a few days after this. :(

I've got the basic supplies, (food/water/flashlights) so I should be fine.

Just wanted to let you know in case I get to be powerless!

I have a friend who's left for a holiday there this morning - bad timing huh?

Ok.. Charley missed us. totally turned at the last minute. The only casualty in my area was my laptop. I now have NO internet at home at all. The laptop was on my lap and it slid off after one of the cats jumped on me, and ripped the intermal modem right out of it. (It is a card type of modem)

I have no power supply in the big computer and no modem in the laptop. I had to come to work today just to have access to type this.

Other than that, we didn't get any rain or wind at all.

The areas below us got slammed. (Ft. Myers, Sarasota)

We got lucky.

Florida has always been a National Disater. We can't even VOTE right!!! We didn't need Bush to tell us that!!

I'm going to hit the stores after work today to see if I can locate a modem cheap. I can't STAND not having no internet at home. I might have to do something drastic... like .. *GASPS* clean!

Wow...I can't even imagine what you're going through. Over here in Utah we don't have to worry about weather too much. Severe thunderstorms are about the only thing we have to deal with.

Becareful, Hurricane Earl is right behind Charley, and is expected to follow the exact same path Charley was predicted too. Boy, this brings back memories of the hurricane that hit Sesame Street 2001.

I'm doing just fine now, Fozzie! I got my new laptop modem installed and I finally have net access at home again. I have a lot of posts to catch up on reading, and I should be back in the games in the next day or two.

*whew* I never want to be without a modem again. EVER!
