muppet baby
06-17-2007, 01:55 PM
im gutted that muppet babies arent out>( i found someone selling copies on ebay- and bought them-:sympathy: i knew it was just transferred from vhs, from shows like "going live" in the uk- sadly it did not have 2 episodes i wanted- WEIRDO (not sure of correct title- but gonzo sings about being weird andis sad coz the babies are copying him) and also the one when gonzo sings- Ill be blue for you- coz nanny hits camilla with the hoover and she bursts... :(
still a few good ones on the dvd, however, alot of repeats, but thats the risk of ebay.
I dunno why they dont release them, those toys they tried before with the free dvd were TERRIBLE quality, so no wonder noone bought them...
i hate disney ruining it.
Oh i know what you mean about the fact that the muppet babies dolls oh yes they where poor quitly expecally piggy and she is my all time faverite muppet and muppet baby ,
oh i love the one where nanny runs over piggy with the vacume that was sad but a good one ,
I don't know why that disney is not realsing them that is just so nuts .
oh well i guess that there is always hope .

Hello!
I don't know how legitimate this is, but I've seen it around now for about 6th months. But I have yet to see it on any major selling site. But I thought I would show y'all this.
If it's already been posted, I'm sorry... :o
Take a look and let me know what you think!

I was silly (and stupid and impatient) enough to buy that set. Disney should PLEASE release a DVD with EVERY SINGLE EPISODE BEING COMPLETE.
Can't emphasize that enough!

Right now on TVShowsonDVD.com, Muppet Babies are ranked 40th on unreleased, and 167th overall with 97% wanting a season set, 30% wanting a best of, and 20% wanting individual episodes. Almost 2,000 votes for the show, so I'm sure there's a demand for it.

Ok, Tiny Toons(which I love and WILL try to own on DVD) was ranked 45th, and Freakazoid(also love but not as much as Tiny Toons) is ranked in the 50s for unreleased DVDs, but they are getting releases? What's up with that? Unless they wanna wait til ALL of the Muppet Show DVDs are out before they put the Muppet Babies, then Muppets Tonight out there. Don't ask me, I just thought that might be the reason.

It comes down to the same problem with Muppet Babies. Will copyright be a problem? Most episodes were full of movie and TV clips from a wide range of production companies.

I've been doing some thinking and researching. I feel that they could at least have Best Ofs or single episodes or something.l Why? because not every episode features copywrited materials interspearced into the show. Especially in the later episodes, movie clips were nothing more than stock footage. maybe an occasional bit, like the Nintendo video game clips in "It's only Pretendo." As Gonzo said in one episode, refering to the fact they couldn't use clips from batman, "Are you nutz? Warner Brothers wanted a million dollars for a three second clip."
And I've said what i've said before...
Jeffery Scott would hit the roof if clips of the Three Stooges wouldn't be used (he's Moe's Grandson, after all), George Lucas has an excellent relationship with Henson and Disney (hense the theme park Star Wars Muppets), so he'd pull for Star Wars and Indiana Jones clips. Only thing that would be a problem is various other clips used from Columbia, in which Henson had a partnership with them in the 80's. Maybe some sitcom clips down the line would be hard to clear, but I feel they could do it.
They problably just don't want to. look how long it took them to release their own Disney Afternoon sets. And most of them are unfinished.

unclematt

Fozzie, Kermit, Piggy, Scooter, Sceeter, Gonzo, Rowlf and Animal. We would sometimes get cameos from Bean, Bunsen and Beaker. We also saw Janice as a teen (once), Robin as a tadpole (once) and Statler and Waldorf (once)

Yes, and I cannot tell you where to purchase them for legal reasons (i.e. they're bootlegs).
However, I would recommend waiting for Muppet Babies to be officially released onto DVD (which may be awhile yet, Disney is doing way too much way too quickly, and probably we'll see absolutely nothing regarding either Muppets or Muppet Babies on DVD till 2009).

I have a theory. Once they get done with all the Muppet Shows and Muppets Tonight, maybe THEN we'll see a release of Muppet Babies. Then Disney might do something like they do with ALL TV shows now. A complete series on DVD. A Muppet-Mania collection or something with all the Muppet Show, Muppets Tonight, Muppet Babies, and all the Muppet Movies in one pack with new extras and stuff. Sounds like a good idea to me.

While there are bootleg ones that are not legal, not to mention you don't know how good they'll look, there has been a few actual releases.
That's the good news, the bad news is they are very hard to find and only have like one or two episodes. The DVD's came with a plush doll of I believe Kermit, Piggy or Gonzo, maybe Fozzie too but I can't remember. Anyhow, I've seen these dolls with the DVD's go for a pretty good amount of money on ebay and that's if you can even find them.
Hope that helps in someway.

I feel very fortunate that I managed to tape several episodes off the TV when it aired on Nick Jr., but I'm still missing the last season and a handful from the others.
I've pretty much given up that they'll ever release it, at least in it's original form with no video cuts due to copyright. It's very sad that this cool show is destined to that fate.

I doubt Disney is, at least as of now, too worried about releasing Muppet Babies, I don't think they think their is enough of a demand for them or, as mention before, the show used so much footage from other shows and famous movies that it would be almost impossible to get all the shows uncut.
And many people would probably say well why can't Disney just paid it off, after all their a billion dollar company. But that doesn't mean they should just pay whatever amount thoes other companies would be asking for, they could get to a much that just isn't fair for a 30 second or so clip.
Speaking as someone with a huge collection of cartoon or animation DVDs, I would love to add Muppet Babies to that collection. And since it's owned by Disney, if it were to have a release within the next year or two, it would come with that "Disney Movie Rewards" points, which I've been collecting, :), it would make it all the sweeter.

Has Disney ever released a full series of anything though as far as one complete set,.
I don't know if I would bet on that, Fraggle Rock was a total original show with original songs so it was really easy to get a full series set of FR. Muppet Show doesn't have that, so I don't see it happening. It seems like that's already the biggest problem Disney is having with the season sets, it's totally not cause of a lack of interested kind of thing, people are wanting to buy it and they've been huge sellers.
If it did happen, oh I would be one of the first in line to get my hands on it, but I don't see it.

I would love to get ahold of an 84-86 season of Muppet Babies. I don't even care if its some bootleg. It's just wrong so many garbage kids shows are on dvd, but Muppet Babies(which I consider one of the best of the 80's kids shows) has languished in obscurity for many years. I think the only officially released episodes were the single episodes that came with the Muppet Babies plushes.
I say we need Muppet Babies and Fraggle Rock Animated season sets!

Hey, I get pretty annoyed when I see all these lame cable shows that I've never heard of jump to DVD the instant season 1 is part way over. I go to that TVshowsonDVD place to see if anything good's coming out, and I find "Jon and Kate Plus 8" or "I Still can't Believe I'm Single" or one of 6000 Food Network shows where they don't even have people cooking the food and giving recipes. Really? Do we really need "The Best Dang Corn Dog I've Eaten Somewhere in Outer Mongolia" Season 3? :insatiable:
Of course, I'm appauled by how Disney handles their cartoon DVD releases... no special features, only half the series with no plans to continue... I'm sure even if we did get the Muppet babies on DVD, they'd find a way to disappoint us. But I just want them to try.

Really. They'll put friggin Penelope Pitstop and Charles in Charge on DVD, but not Muppet Babies?
Penelope Pitstop had a reason to be on DVD... I guess Charles in Charge may too... but definately Penelope Pitstop... after all, that's part of the original Wacky Races trilogy (which included Dasdardly and Muttley in their Flying Machines). And Wacky Races is a classic Hanna Barbera cartoon show.
The main thing stopping MB, we all know, is all those film copyrights. They could release a best of featuring the last 2 seasons which had only stock footage... but they weren't as good as the classic 84-87 episodes. I really think, while stilted and not as good as TMS would have done, Toei really gave the show a good look.

I agree with unclematt, I mean if you think about it, it's kind of like how do you compare?
For one thing, Rugrats created original characters that happened to be babies, Muppet Babies on the other hand had to create baby verisons of already made and well know beloved characters. (Well minus Skeeter)
