I was just thinking about how we, the members of this forum, are probably the only people on earth who know the names of all the Muppet performers and their characters. Basically I was just laughing at how much of a nerd I am and how proud I am of it -- because it's not a bad thing. Everybody is a nerd about something. It feels so good to me to be part of a group who appreciates the efforts of puppeteers.
Does anyone else feel this way? What makes you guys proud to be nerds?

Oh, knowing all about Muppets, and Thunderbirds I am proud of, but I still have a fair way to go before I become Nerdified in Star Trek wisdom, but I do know most everything about the film industry, and films.
Also I can tell you the murderer of each and every Agatha Christie pretty much from memory!

well, I'm classified as a 'geek' anyways, so I guess I don't mind the nerd part
I think we could all be placed on a nerd scale from 1-100. however, if 100 is being a total geek or nerd, what would the 1 be? what is the other side to our spectrum? what could you possibly rather be? The answer escapes me, however it doesnt seem much fun. In addition to my love for puppets, I was also theatre dork in High school. I think that I am proud to say that I am 75% nerd.

Oh, there's more Muppet Nerds out there than just in this forum!! I geek out over Muppets, Peanuts, Ghostbusters, and Blues Brothers!! I also get really kid-like at Walt Disney World, other theme parks, and puppet shows or where costumed characters are; even though I perform puppets and costume characters.

I definitely tend to think of myself as nerdy, and I've got plenty of passions to back it up. It's kinda weird having LOTR so super-popular; I always felt rather possessive of it. We read "The Hobbit" in 8th grade and my teacher gave me an alternate project because I knew so much about the book. Everyone thought I was kinda weird for that. And my musical tastes have always been off most of my friends' radar. Half the time they've never heard of the people I like; usually I try not to bring music up at all. But for all the things I used to think made me weird I have found equally passionate people, which is pretty cool. I like being a nerd!

I've been a nerd all my life.Proud of it.Can't help it.It's in the genes. Avid book reader.Always on the computer.Majored in computers.Always quoting movies, music.Have a photographic memory. Took a nerd quiz online, was over 60%.Play strategy games. Etc.....:halo:
:sing: Revenge of the Nerds:
Mom packed us a lunch,we're off to new school;they call us nerds,'cause we're so uncool.
They laugh at our clothes, they laugh at our hair, the girls walk by with their nose in the air.
So go ahead, put us down, one of these days we'll turn it around.
Won't be long, mark my word, the time has come for Revenge of the Nerds.
Dark rimmed glasses,with the heavy-duty lens.Buttoned-down shirt,with a pocket full of pens.
Straight 'A' student,teacher's pet.They call us nerds,but there's no regret.
So go ahead put us down, one of these days we'll turn it around.
Won't be long, mark my words, the time has come for Revenge of the Nerds!

I'm a nerd at some things. But like most of you said, just about everybody is a nerd at something.

Well,i was kinda geeky in junior high. But now that i'm in high school people find me more weird than geeky mostly cause i like eating chap stick and i listen to techno and wear very flamboyant clothing. As for muppets my freind misunderstood me so he got really angry and told people how i still watched muppets.I was suprised not many people cared but the LOSERS laugh really hard.*SIGH* they're just insecure  .

Revenge of the Nerds is mentioned in the movie American Splendor.Toby considers himself to be a nerd.He used to be on MTV,reporting on Spring Break.
Anthony Michael Hall in 16 Candles is cast as The Geek('nother name for nerd).
Any other 'nerd' movie references you can think of?

Yeah, I thought that was funny when I saw "American Splendor." I think they also might have mentioned "Revenge of the Nerds" on "Freaks and Geeks;" a friend of mine got the DVD from the library and I watched half the episodes. Really good show.

Nerds are book people; geeks are fan-boys. We in the local Star Wars Fan Force call ourselves geeks.

Well I guess I am a Muppet Geek myself. I love Muppets, Puppets, and anything basically related to the like. I don't know as much as a lot of folks on the subject (Kev for instance) But I do share the love for these wonderful creatures with a lot of these folks on here and around the world.
My Husband on the other hand is a Nerd...he knows EVERYTHING about Transformers. I mean EVERYTHING!!!! But everyone has to have a passion for something. Why not robots?
I'm proud to me a Muppet Geek!
