Have you ever been banned from another forum? [Archive]

*shrugs* The only thing I've been banned from is reviewing someone's fic at Fanfiction.Net. Of course, the fact that their story wasn't all that great, I offered con crit and they claimed that I "flamed" them might have had something to do with it, so no big loss there.

I have never been banned from any forum... then again, most forums I lose interest in really easily (Obviously MC is one exception) so I don't stay there long enough to do anything that would get me banned!

Some people actually requested that I would be banned from ToonZone forums just because I made a comeback when everyone got smart at me. I hardly go back to TZ anyway.

I was banned for a month on a forum called Zelda Power........they didnt like my RPG's....It was called the battle of whateverI thought it was good but others started spaming on it and the mods got mad at me and banned me. :cry:

I have never been banned from any boards, and never expect to be. I'm not really the sort of person who raises hackles. As far as banning in general I've found that most forums will put up with quite a lot, and give many warnings, before they actually have to block anyone.

Since when did the agreement say you couldn't use script format. And what does mst stand for?

i've never been banned from a forum, but i've been sent warning messages from the admins on a Gamefaqs forum. I got in a fight with some dumbos and said some.. :o choice words :halo: hehe.

I tink eaverybody can be banned on other forums and I think it's not always just tair own blame. On my experience, most of beaches of the rules are just misunderstoots.

I'm an artist and some of constructife hard reviews can be very usefull for me. I can always make the dicision to use some comments of other people or not.
I don't know What Fanfiction.Net. mean with flames.
The question is, are hard refieuws constructife or destructife?

Depends entirely on how they're presented, and how they're taken. If presented in a courteous manner with constructive comments rather than destructive, and not taken too sensitively, they can be useful to one's future work. Never been banned from a forum, have never had a Mod note, just to put this thread back on track.

First question, apparently it was ever since chat-based fics were banned.
Chat and script format are the same. We have not allowed chat/script format for years.
I sure didn't know chat and script fics were the same. Especially since many script fics don't even take place in chatrooms. That sure threw me off. :rolleyes:
As for MST, it stands for Mystery Science Theater, a show on which (from what I understand) a few characters would make fun of a particular movie. In the fanfiction sense, an mst is when you take a badfic and interject your own commentary.

I went to this forum that was run by a guy that could be a real *insert choice word here*, but he never aimed it at me. I had actually given him advice from time to time. Well his favorite target was this one girl that I would converse with. He was down right vicious! She would reply to a thread & he would seek it out just to go after her. (I'm not sure what started the whole thing, but it was time for him to let go.) I started sticking up for her, but he would then fire at me. I stood up for her only 3 or 4 times & he got mad & banned both of us. He lifted the ban the next day, but I never went back. I am no ones target!

I guess alot of other people have been banned too, because some of my friends, who were also ff members had the script format. I personally like it, and think it's easier to read, so I would write my ff's in that format.

I NEVER, I mean NEVER did that! I may have used a few cliche jokes on occasion, but I never did anything like that...all of my fics were pure original work...I mean sure the characters and shows are made by the people in the media industry, but storywise, they were ALL original. I guess that's why people tended to hate them...especially one of my Bewitched fics. Oh well, I lost interest in FanFiction.Net anyway...I've moved on to other things like Muppet Central, and TV Tome and stuff. Oh, and thanks for explaining to me.

I think fanfiction.net is really overly sensitive anyway...

I lately noticed, there are very few to none negative reviews on that site, which I think is strange. Because most of the writing on there really isn't that good.

I would want to know what people think of my work so I can improve it, but some people are just fishing for compliments I guess...

I have never been banned, but I banned myself for a week from my favourite forum, because I had a huge row with a girl there, and I was really sick of it.

A few days later I wnet back, we made up and we're good friends now, I even met her irl a couple of times. :D Huh... I just saw her and a couple of people from the same forum this weekend actually. We went dancing. :)

PS This is my first and only forum I've ever joined. I'm not planning to be banned. If I ever offend anyone with a post it would never be done deliberately. I know that Phillip and the rest of you all would try to seek reconciliation and understanding with me just like any genuine family and that is the way any forum should be.

I recall being banned from MC for a while, but I think it was a computer thing. I thought it was because I'd asked to do some video trading.

Other than that, no bannings. The worst it gets for me is people who don't agree with my opinions (ie. supporters of new productions). :rolleyes:

I've got a clean record. But I know tons of cool people who get banned. it's frustrating because some sites have these little cliques of moderators, and anyone they don't like, or anyone who is different, is banned. It's frustrating and unfair.

I agree. Thats why I try to avoid joining forums unless its a professional forum or I know the person who made it wont tolerate it. Join mine?;)

I don't know, I'm on the same computer they banned me from, and I'm back on. Thank goodness they haven't figured it out yet, but they figured you out.

only one, and it's now defunct... it was run by a disturbed group of people who joked about killing their favorite skater (whom the board was about)'s main competition. It was pretty gross. All I said was I didn't think it was humorous and out went I. I'm thankful for it, though. I wouldn't want that reputation.

I don't think it's good to be banned from anywhere, and I wouldn't go around bragging about it. I'm not a fan of board dragging at all.

I haven't been banned, nor warned.

I moderate a few boards and am usually easy-going about SOME things, but I always note what I don't think fits the mood of said forums, then I send a private message, then I suspend, then I ban. I think I have a good theory of how to moderate.

Basically, as long as people remember that the other person on the computer also has feelings, they are being good diplomats and promoting a positive feeling, staying on topic, not calling people out or continuing arguments, and are not spamming then it's all good.

You'll notice I've gone in and deleted some posts from this thread.

First, I will consider tenure when making decisions. I'll say this now.

Second, I will NOT condone arguments of ANY KIND on these message boards. It's negative and negativity does not represent anything that we come here to celebrate.

Third, if you feel under attack, do not reply in defense: Notify a moderator. I do not want any fussing going on in these forums. If I wanted fussing, I'll go downstairs and talk ugly to my neighbor about his mama.

That's funny, actually. Mainly because I'd be scared he'd shoot up through my floors.

Anyhow, I'm keeping my eyes open--heed my words. Those who've been here a while know what I like and don't like to see on these forums so please stick to that; others will learn.

BAH. I almost got deleted from NationStates.net tonight. You can have more than one nation (account), but you're not allowed to have more than one nation that is in the UN. I log on at a friend's computer alot, and they assumed we're the same person and both of us almost got deleted. :(
