Role Play: Muppets Go Camping - Mountain Muppets

Ok people, seeing how the Muppets on the Move is winding down, I thought I'd get another Role Play going.

Here is the scenario for this one:

The Muppets have been dropped off at a campsite in the Rocky Mountains. This time there is no John Denver to help them. They gotta rough it on their own.

You can be any Muppet you choose. Please try to be a Muppet if at all possible. Cartoon characters are kinda odd at a campsite.

There will be no leaving the campside by car, truck, or what have you. We are stuck out here. We have to SURVIVE. This starts as a vacation and we soon realize, we are stuck. STUCK. The ranger station is some 20+ miles away. Don't try to find it. It will ruin the fun.

You can explore the nature trails, go swimming, go fishing, go canoeing. You just can't leave the campsite once you are here.

We have tents, sleeping bags, and basic supplies. There is one Pop-Up camper that sleeps 6. This is the only 'modern' thing here. There is no car.

Ok? Let's have fun with Mother Nature under the stars.

Well guys, here we are! The beeeeutiful Rocky Mountains!! We have been needing this vacation for a long time.

*Looks over at the pile of supplies that need to be set up*

Ok, who is in charge of putting all this together?

Ill Be Gonzo:

Gonzo: Walks up to camp site and smells the fresh air MMMMMMMMMM!!! that smells good now where is all my camping gear? I thought Rizzo had it.

*Points to the pile of camping gear*

Well everything got dumped in this pile. Dive in and find what is yours.

*Looks for her tent*

Mine is the pink and purple deluxe tent if you find it.

Gonzo:

AHhhhh!!!!! Thanks Miss Piggy i see my gear right there. (points to his tent and sleeping bag) Now to setup camp this should be fun.

(opens up tent bag and puts parts on the ground.) hummmm this might be a little harder then i thought. oh well here goes nothin . (starts putting the tent up.) ( singing) :This looks familure strangly familure ... i'm going to go back there somday." (finishes puting up tent) ahhhh now where is everyone at we need to start a fire soon it will be dark soon.

*Finally finds her tent and stuff*

Okay, they said this was going to be easy.

*Spends quite a bit of time with the rods and canvas getting it all tangled up*

Or maybe not.

Hey Gonzo, do you know how to do this? It says Deluxe model with two rooms, but I can't even get one room up. *Glances over at the Pop-up* Maybe I should sleep in there.

Hey.. you're gonna fix that. This is supposed to be a relaxing vacation. Why don't we all pitch together and get this campsite set up so we can make:

I'll be Animal, naturally:

*Animal sees a chipmunk and stares at it with awe*
*Animal groans as if hungry*
*Animal chases the chipmunk up a tree*

Animal: Animal! Animal!.........ANIMAL!

*The chipmunk throws an acorn at Animal, but instead it hits Piggy* :D

*Rubs head and looks up at the tree*

Animal you come down here right now! GET OUT OF THAT TREE!

*Bends over to try to set up tent again*

* Laughs at piggy bending down *

Thats the most i have seen Piggy work in a long time> Anyways now that i have to re- bulid my tent i think i shall be a litltle more creative. *Runs behind some bushes for a few hours* *comes out with a little string and pulls the string to revile a very fancy made hut mad out of sticks and leaves from trees all around.*
The hut has two front windows with long grass as crutians. It also has a workable door made from sticks found in the trees. The inside is full of furnitur made forme sticks and mud and string there are chairs , a table and in the second room a bed for your truly. It even has a kitcen where i made a fire pit for cooking and it kind of near the river so i can do the dishes. *Puts string down*
Now this is living.

[Beth C]

*Looks over at Gonzo's new tent then back at the mess at her feet* Okay... this isn't working the way it's supposed to. Hmmm...

*Shoves a bunch of rods together and tries to drape the canvas over them, the resulting mess then collapses*

Hmph! I guess this is one reason I don't go camping much.

*Looks over at Piggy and almost feels sorry for her* "Hey piggy need a hand over there?"

*Kermit gets up a little later then everyone else and gets out of the tent.He stretches awhile as he yawns..*

Kermit:Piggy! Morning everyone! the sun is up and its time to get to work!

* walks over to gonzo and piggy*

Kermit: would you mind if me and gonzo helped you piggy?

*Looks at the mess she made*

Uh.. yeah.. some help would be nice.

*Hands the poles to Gonzo and the canvas to Kermit*

Pihhhgyyy... uhh.. Ok..Well we better get to work gonzo...Theres no use trying to force her to work!

[Beauregard]

*Meanwhile, overhead with a roar and a whir, a large unmarked helicopter zooms into sight, and stopps to hover over the site*

*Slowly, almost sinisterly the door opens, and a black-glad person leaps out*

*A huge parashoot (sp?) pops open above, and the person floats down to the ground*

*A ripping sound is heard, and the parashoot is sliced in half to reveal...*

Like, wow. Guys, I'm here!

This camp sure looks cosy! I saw the ad in the paper, and I was like, "Oh, wow! A camp site all to ourself, hey, Floyd haney, let's go." But, like, he wanted to stay home and get some more practice down for our gig next month, but, hey, I thought, "Wow, I'll go by myself."

So, here I am!

*Janice strolls across to the camper*

And this is my place of residence, fer sure. See ya.

*enters camper, and shuts door*

Hey janice!

Welcome to the campsite!

*pocks head out of camper door*

Oh, like, wow. A wild mountain bear...oh wiat, it's just Sweetums.

*steps out of camper and wonders down the camp*

Now I heard there's some wild life around here. What is it? Parties, or what?

*flicks hair*

Kermit: um, hey there janice.. Welcome.. to out lovely little camp site..

*looks to her as he puts up canvas*

Kermit: We are going traditional for a few days.. there are no parties out here..unless you count the fun that we will be having at this campsite!!

[Beauregard]

*stops in tracks*

But, like, the broshure said wild life...

Oh no. Did, like, it mean wildlife? Like flowers? And trees? And Grass?

*looks up and the sky*

Oh no, Floyd honey, what am I doing here?

*comforts Janice*

Kermit: Janice, Its not as bad as it looks.. We set up camp, and we have some fun! whaddya say?

[Beth C]

*Comes back from the pubilc restrooms*

Hi Janice.. where did you get here?

*Looks at the half finsihed tent*

Kermie.. stop flirting with Janice and PUT UP MY TENT! *stomps her foot to the last words*

*clears throat and turns back to Janice*

I hear there is swimming in the pond.. we can try that later.

Kermit: ... Piggy.. I wasnt flirting.. I was just reasurring janice that thi trip will be great for us all...

*goes back to setting the tent up*

Wow, swiming. A cool relaxing sink in the hot tub...WAIT!

I'm going back to my camper for a snooze.

*minces accross to camper, and steps in*

*flops down on bed*

*leaps up*

Wow! Yikes! Spiders!

[Beth C]

*hears Janice scream* Gee, some people can't take the Great Outdoors.

I can't wait to have a cookout tonight.

Hey Animal, can you get some firewood ready?? It has to be dried out by sundown or the fire won't start!!

*gets a camera out of her backpack* Ok, now let's see where i can start taking pictures.

*Finishes the tent as he sits down to relax a little.As he hears piggy ask to take pictures*

Kermit: If I didnt love you piggy, Id say you work me to death!

[Beth C]

*Stumbles, and trips over a log, nearly drops her camera and lands on her fanny right by the edge of the pond.*

OWWWW!

*Sticks a finger in her ear to clean the wax out*

I must be hearing things. I could swear I just heard Kermie say he loved me.

*Jumps up *

Kermit: Uhm.. No piggy.. I..uh..er.. I think the heat is getting to you.. would you like to go lye down?

[Beth C]

*Gets up and dusts off clothes*

No, I'm fine. Yes, it must be the heat.

*Picks up camera and proceeds to take pictures of the pond*

Wow.. this place is breathtaking.

[Drum Eater]

Animal: "Wood! Wood! Wood! EAT TREES! EAT TREES!"
*Animal starts biting bark off of a nearby pine tree*
*The tree shakes and pinecones drop and hit everywhere*
*A pinecone falls just right and hits a propane tank for the stove*
*There is a small explosion and Animal comes out of the smoke with cinged fur*
*Crazy Harry laughs his evil destructive laugh*

*A pinecone hits Kermit in the head*

Kermit: Animal, would it be too much to ask for you to do something contructive? We have tons of work to do before tonight!

[Beauregard]

*exits camper with the spider from her bed caught in a jar*

Like, Piggy, I have something for you.

[Beth C]

*Turns around to see what Janice is calling her about and sees the spider in the jar*

What.... AAAIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

*Trips again and this time lands in the pond with a loud SPLLLASSHHHH!*

[Barry Lee]

*Then Sweetums pops out of the water with a snorkle*


Anybody lost a pig in the water??

Oh Piggy, I thought you said you liked speiders.

[Barry Lee]

SPIDERS?! AHHH!!!!

*jumps in the water*

ALIGATORS?!?!?! AHHHH!!!

*jumps out of the water into the woods*

BEARS?!

*then Fozzie walks by*

Wow, look, I cute little frog by the side of the pond, wonder if I can just...

*leaps back*

Oh! Like, you scared my, I didn't realise it was you Kermit.

Oh Piggy, I thought you said you liked speiders.


FROGS, Janice.. I like FROGS.. no wait.. I LOVE FROGS.. no wait.. I LOVE ONE FROG......

*Stares dreamily at Kermit while dripping pond water in a puddle*

*suddenly blushes, and quickly changed subject*

Kermit: Janice, You shouldnt be so scared of things... We are going to be here a while.. So we will have to adapt to the nature.

[Beth C]

*snaps back to reality to realize she is a dripping wet mess*

Oh dear! Excuse me, will you?

*grabs backpack and enters her tent to change, zips it closed*

[Philo and Gunge]

(in the distance you hear two voices arguing)

"You call this a quest for home?"
"Well, it's nothing natural but..."
"BUT WHAT? We've been out here for, oh, I don't know, 5 hours."
"Your right, 5 hours is pretty long."

The voices come near.

"Still, we should proably go back to Marjory."
"Too late now!" (they wind up in the campsite)

[Crazy Harry]

*crashes into the ground at rocket spead, then crawls out of the huge crater he made*

Is Harry late?

[Beth C]

*Unzips and comes out of her tent*

What is going on out here? Can't a woman get changed without a whole lot of commotion?

[Fozzie Bear]

*Stands back looking at his pup tent, one of banana yellow in color. The inside of the tent is covered in writing where, after waking up in the middle of the night with an idea, Fozzie has scribbled some jokes. He has his green sleeping bag, rubber chicken, and some other gear, including a fishing vest and hiking boots.

Proud of himself and his tent, he admires it as a whistling and a yell is heard from above then WHAM! he's knocked down. From a crater next to him comes Crazy Harry, then Piggy exits.*

No, Harry, you're on time. Had we already left THEN you'd have been late.

*The tent collapses from the landing of Crazy Harry.*

Oh, blast it all! Uh, er, NO! WAIT!!

[Beauregard]

*comes out of camper*

Oh, wow, Harry, what are you doing way out here? I never, like, took you as a holiday camp kinda guy.

And, Hi Fozzie, by the way.

*walks lilting across the camp*

Does anyone have a mobile? I have to call for my helicopter to come pick me up again, I'm not staying in, like, this camp. Way to much wildlife and not enough wild life, fer sure.

Oh, Janice, I would've thought you'd have liked all this nature stuff being a valley girl and all that. Come to think of it, I'm surprised Miss Piggy is taking it all.

(Philo and Gunge walk up to Fozzie)

I don't think anyone has a cell phone. I don't think this park has any cell phone relay towers, so even if you did bring one, you wouldn't get a signal.

Hi Rowlf! Are you coming on the Nature Hike? I'm leaving for it shortly, and the brochure says it's going to be good.

*Takes a deep breath* Ah.. the great outdoors. What a place to be. Right, Janice?

Nature hike! Yes! I'm ready and willing! I have my hiking boots on, my fishing vest which is full of snacks, and a walking stick and...uh...SSNNAAAAKKEE! AAAAHHHHHH!!!

*Starts up the trail.*

Let's see, we can go right through the valley, or left over the mountain. Which way?

*Points toward a sign that says 'Nature Trail - 4 mile hike'*

I've got my canteen, sunblock, mosquito repellant, camera, binoculars, hat and sunglasses.

*Starts leading the muppets down the trail*

*walks a bit further and stops before a large clearing*

*takes out camera for a picture* Now this is wildlife. I wonder what else we will see out here.

Gunge: My fault? Your the one who wanted to go find home! (they walk away from each other, but Philo walks into Piggy's leg and Gunge ends up being around a wolf)

Hey, Piggy! Rowlf and I are gonna go ahead up this trail by the cliffs. Is this on the map?

[McFraggle]

I hope it is, so we'll know where we are going for sure.

Philo: Rowlf, Fozzie. There's a wolf up on those cliffs and... (looks) Gunge is up dare!

hey, Guys, you all are going the wrong way! That trail you guys are on is for professional hikers. The beginner trail goes that *points to the left* way.

I don't know about you, but I'm not a pro at this and I'm not going to get lost.

*hikes off to the left*

*Climbs a mountanous hill.*

Wow! What a hike this is gonna be!! I don't think we're going on the slow and easy trail here. Rowlf, you okay?

[Philo and Gunge]

*follows Piggy*

The Nature trail winds its way around the lush valley and around some hills. This is the easy trail and Nature is abundant with plenty of racoons, deer, rabbits and other wildlife to amuse our Muppet friends. They are now halfway down the trail when another side of Nature shows up. Dark storm clouds roll off the horizon with litte preamble or warning. Thunder begins to sound and lightning streaks along the sky.

Uh-oh. Um.. we are at least an hour away from camp. Does anyone have any suggestions before we get soaked? Janice? Floyd? Philo? Gunge? Anyone?!?!?!?

*feels raindrops begining to fall*

I think we better make a run for it!

*turns and begins running back down the trail from which they came*

[McFraggle]

It's raining!

[Fozzie Bear]

A steep path leads Fozzie and Rowlf, Gobo and Gunge to the bottom of a hill where, as the rain falls harder, they meet up with Piggy, Janice, Floyd, and Philo.

Hey, Piggy! Look--there's cover under that cliff! Let's go.

[Philo and Gunge]

It's raining!

What I like the rain. (a lightning bolt) Except when there's lightning!

[G-MAN]

Gonzo: (falls from atop of cliff) Hey guys where you going, this is fun. (gets struck by lightening) Hooh hooh haha!

[Fozzie Bear]

Oh, Gonzo! you're always such a--weirdo. Oooh! Cool! Your EYES GLOW! Come under here and give us some light.

[G-MAN]

Gonzo:Gee thanks! (heads in)

[Fozzie Bear]

There! Now, we have more light under this cliff while til storm passes by and we're dry and warm!

[Philo and Gunge]

(Gunge takes out portable TV he brought with him for the long journey to home)

Gunge: I wonder how good the reception is. (turns on TV, while getting image, reception is horrible) Oh, great. Nothing on but "Hamlet 2: Denmark's Pride".

Game Master's Note: I didn't see anyone playing more than one character, and I'm doing the best I can to get the game back on track from an antiquated laptop. If there is anyone playing more than one character, I strongly suggest that you choose just one. I will now attempt to continue by bringing everyone back to the campsite and starting over from there. The rain has now stopped and all the muppets have trailed back slowly to the campsite, some covered in mud, some just plain dirt and all of them tired from the so-called nature hike. After many baths and showers at the public bathrooms or in the lake, all the muppets are finally preparing for bed in their first night outdoors. There is a blazing campfire, soft music provided by Floyd and plenty of food to eat.

Ah... *burps* Oh, excuse me! This is the life. No contracts, tv cameras or schedules to follow.

The big hairy thing does indeed turn out to be a bear, but one who is already done foraging in the woods. The bear merely sniffs the Muppets then turns away and lumbers back to it's cave, very tired indeed. All the muppets then return to the camp in which to get a restfull night's sleep.

The next morning dawns with no hint of rain and plenty of sunshine. On the list of things to do today is canoeing and fishing in the lake

*Wakes up*

Oh man.. that was some night, sleeping in a tent. Next time, I'm definately taking my camper.

Ok, who else is awake and ready for breakfast??

*Climbs down from the tree slowly, and looks around for some big hairy creature.*

Okay...breakfast. Yes. I want breakfast. And some aspirin! Sleeping in a tree all night isn't so comfortable. By the way, I plugged the hole in the canoe with some bubble gum and a cork, so we should have fun doing that today.
