Someone from MC was kind enough to send me the mp3 of this theme version and I'd just like to know more about it. All I know about it is that it is possibly the first original testing copy of the Opening Theme and it has the lyrics:
Take a roll down a hole and you know that you're soon gonna be there.
Take a skip -
Take a drip -
Take a slip -
And what do you see there?
Does anyone know anything else about this version that they can share?

Yes, it was the original theme of the show. Terry Angus' talked about it in his MC interview.
I remember the first thing I did was the original opening, which the public has never seen. The first one we did had a different set of lyrics. It didn't explain the show very well, so they got rid of it and re-shot the opening all over again. The original opening had a different set of lyrics, like, "Take a roll down a hole and you know that you're soon gonna be there. Take a skip, take a trip, take a flip, and what do you see there? Now you race to the place and a smile on your face that goes goofy. Fraggle Rock is the spot where the smile that you've got is whoopie… Dance your cares away" (and so on). At that time everything was zipping by so fast they didn't show how everything was connected. Finally, the final theme had us go through the window of Doc's workshop. Then down the tunnel and we see how everything connects to the Fraggles. We then brought up the Doozers, they're in there with the Fraggles, then Gobo goes down another tunnel and finds himself out by the Gorgs' garden.

Do you have it to share with others? I would love a piece of FR history. Does anyone know anything else about this version that they can share?
I'd love to hear this too actually. Sounds cool !

That's pretty cool. Kinda neat too how although it didn't survive to the actual show, parts of it did find their way into the extended version of the theme song, and the revised theme song of the final episode. I think I'll definately be singing these new words when that instrumental portion of the extended theme song is playing.
Too bad there isn't a better quality recording of it. The vocals were somewhat 'washed out'. I would've used it to make a remix.

Ooh, a remix would have been cool. If I ever find a better recording of it, I'll send it your way. :)

In the extended version of the Fraggle Rock theme song on the 2 record album set several years ago, there was an extra bit of instrumental that sounded a bit like some of the end-theme was blended in, but also this "Roll down a hole" part reminds me of that, as well. Connections, ya think?

Yeah that's the one I was referring to in my last post. It's definately the same notes, they just chose not to use the lyrics for whatever reason. Maybe they decided it was a bit too silly - strayed too far from the true intent of the show?

I think this thread should be unstuck, Because whoever released the ORIGINAL theme tune is going against the wishes of the person who gave it to them.
And could get the person into trouble.

Yes quite sure. The way this got out was betrayal.

Heh, this is wonderful - all the behind the scenes info some people get access to that the rest of the world never gets to see. You'd think we were dealing with government-protected flying saucer information. They're probably already relocating Area 51 as a result of this breach in security.
.... uh oh, be back in a few. The Men in Black are here and they want me to look at a funny-looking pen.

Actually, Area 51 is a decoy. All the interesting stuff happens at Area 52.

Actually my breakfast cereal was telling me about Area 52, but I dismissed it as just being the result of having sour milk with it.

Warrick, if you know what post #'s are the bad ones, email Phil and request that those be deleted. It won't get you in any more trouble then.

No, its not me who is being betrayed. Its the person who originally gave it to someone.

No, but someone released it as a favor it seems, likely with the restriction that they could have the copy if they didn't release it.
