After some thought, I thought it would be fun to revive the "Muppet What-Ifs" that we used to do. To start, I have a few:

What if Kermit fell in love with the REAL Lady Holiday? (Hee, hee, hee)
What if "The Rhyming Song" rhymed?
What if "Fraggle Rock" was "Doozer Rock"?
What if the Gorgs went into "Outer Space"? (Uh, oh)
What if Uncle Travelling Matt went into the "other" Outer-Space?
What if Beaker said "You, you, you" instead of "Me, me, me"?
What if Hilda stayed on "The Muppet Show" after the first season?
What if the Fraggles loved to work?
What if the Doozers loved to play?
What if Dr. Teeth couldn't play the keys?
What if Animal couldn't play the drums?
What if Janice couldn't play the guitar?
What if Floyd couldn't play the bass?
What if Zoot couldn't play the sax?
What if Lips couldn't play the trumpet?
What if the Electric Mayhem broke up?
What if the "Traveling Musicians" DID become Traveling Musicians?
What if Melora DIDN'T kiss Robin?
What if Big Mean Carl was "Big Friendly Carl"?

Any others? Feel free to share them.

What if Kermit didn't have a collar?
What if Robin did?
What if Skeeter was a regular character?
What if Scooter was still around?
What if "Muppets Tonight" was still on the air?
What if Muppet Central had an official relationship with The Jim Henson Company?
What if Odyssey was still part-owned by Henson?
What if there WAS a 24-hour Henson network?
What if Jim Henson did buy Walt Disney Productions in the '80s?
What if there WERE sequels to "The Dark Crystal" and "Labyrinth?"
What if another rock band did a video with the Muppets?
What if EM.TV never ran into financial turmoil?
What if Oscar was still orange?
What if Snuffy was still unseen? (That'd be annoying.)

That's all I got.

Henson was a contender for the Mouse House until Roy Disney, Stanley Gold and the Bass Brothers stepped up to bat. Bernie Brillstein began petitioning interest a little too late. This was all covered in an article at LaughingPlace (http://laughingplace.com/).

Alright, I came across this last night and thaught it might be fun to bump up. Kev, if you or any other mod sees this, I think it might be a good idea to move it to the games section. Up to you, of course.

What if Jerry Juhl was still alive and writing?

lol I never even realized you had the name wrong heralde.

But Doc Holiday is such an easy mistake to make though I'm not exactly sure where the name originally came from.
And the villian in TGMC was Nicky Holiday. I wonder if it's just a coincidence or whether the Muppeteers were punning Doc Holiday indirectly remembering the villian from the first movie. ;)

Ahahahaha! I saw "Doc Holiday" and I was like DOC HOLIDAY AND THE MUPPETS?!?!?!? AWESOME!!!! So, :p ! Burst my bubble.........

Doc Holiday was a friend of the Earp brothers (Wyatt, Virgil, and Morgan), who all fought at the OK Corral. They've been portrayed countless times in movies, tv, etc. But the best was in the movie Tombstone, where he was played by Val Kilmer.

Thank you for clearing up where the name came from Beakerfan.
I knew it was familiar to me and like you said heralde no wonder it seemed right at the time.

Incidentally I love your current signature. I must remember whenever life seems to get me down that I am bionically empowered by Jesus. :D

About Scooter, yeah I forgot he is a human muppet, but I have always thought of him as a gopher muppet not a human muppet.

About Ernie and Lew Zealand, do not forget they also appeared in "A Muppet Family Christmas" together. In fact, there was a particular scene when the Turkey showed Big Bird to the Swedish Chef as a potential bird feast. As this happens, we see Ernie and Bert with Big Bird and other muppets talking to each other, and we see Lew Zealand talking to Big Bird and (I think) Prairie Dawn, but we also see Ernie and Bert looking at Lew Zealand, Prairie Dawn, and Big Bird talking to each other, so there you go. So, in total, they appeared in 5 movies together. And, another reason why this could work is that Ernie was currently performed by Jim Henson, and Lew Zealand was performed by Jerry Nelson. They look nearly identical, they are similar in personality, and they both have a toy that they like to show off and play with (and maybe some other similarities), they just need to meet each other.

What if Sesame Street had only 26 episodes per season?

And what if they were all being released on dvd?

What if The Muppet Show had gotten ratings like Muppets Tonight?

Or, better yet, what if Muppets Tonight had gotten ratings like The Muppet show?

What if Sesame Street had been more story driven and less segment/education driven.

What if Pepe had stuck with Seymour and not gone so Hollywood?

What if I was not the only Muppet fan to love Andy and Randy Pig?

What if the Count Von Count had been more frightening? Especially if they had kept his maniacal laughter that I loved so much.

What if Oscar the Grouch actually made kids cry on a regular basis, teaching them how to deal with criticism and cruelty?

What if in keeping with the "realistic actor" personas of the Muppets, they aged, and Statler, Waldorf, and Rowlf were all "dead"?

What if everything Muppets ever were directly owned by the family and were all being released on dvd?

What if every episode of Sesame Street was eventually released on blu-ray?

What if every Muppet fan loved Muppets Tonight as much as I did?

What if The Muppet Show ran for 37 seasons?

What if every other Muppet fan despised the new millennium Muppets material as much as I did?

What if all Muppets material had retired in 1999 with dignity after the masterpiece of Muppets From Space?

What if Jerry Nelson performed Statler since the beginning?

What if Muppet shows and movies never broke the 4th wall when they were in "real-time", as in backstage or screening films?

What if the Muppets had been treated fully like actors, and never shown to the public as being "fake".

What if Muppets Tonight had lasted 5 seasons?
I tell you... we would ALL have been better off, and I am sticking by that. It certainly beats Oz and the Christmas Theater folks, no matter how many lines Rowlf has.

Good Lord I forgot the most important one!

What if the Palisades toy line had continued through 14 series, along with Sesame Street's 2, and we had gotten the Muppet Stage and balcony, 2 sets of SS, Mahna Mahna, Clueless Morgan, Bellhop Seymour and Pepe, Bill the Bubble Guy, Bert and Ernie, and everyone man woman and child on Earth could laugh with joy that they completed the greatest and most complete toyline ever devised...

Or...

What if another quality toy company used their outline for the last 4 series (still ripe with re-hashes of marketable characters) and made a compatible complimentary series... It's not too late people...

There are currently 26 episodes per season. Or did you mean "What if Sesame Street always had 26 epsidoes per season?"

What if Jerry Nelson performed Statler since the beginning?

He did. Nelson performed Statler in his first appearance, The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence (which, in case you don't know, is included in The Muppet Show's first season boxed set). Richard Hunt took over when The Muppet Show began.

What if The Muppets personalities were all mixed up? Like Gonzo was like Fozzie and Kermit was like Gonzo!

Of course something like that did happen. Remember the "Pigs in Space" sketch on the Harry Belafonte episode? We had Link/Piggy, Strangepork/Janice, Kermit/Swedish Chef. (Actually it seems :) was the only one who got back to being himself at the end of that episode.) Anyway, I see what you mean though. It would be great to see something like that with more Muppet characters.
