Due to request, here's my scans and pics of the Baby Gonzo plush's packaging, dvd case, and dvd label.
http://mhohnstein.tripod.com/muppets/mbdvd.htm
The page may take a minute to load on a slower connection.
These are the ones that are available now at Target: Kermit, Piggy, Gonzo and Fozzie. Large versions of Animal and Rowlf will be out in the fall.

That looks fantastic!
Although the pattern of material on the nose is better in the mini Beanie from Walgreens.
Id love to see more if you could take some photos!
Im especially interested in seeing Kermit, Fozzie and Rowlf.
And does Animal have a fur face, Or is it the same design as the beanie?
see ya

All my Target had was Kermit, Fozzie, Piggy, and Gonzo.
When I get them, I'll add more pics .... that is assuming someone else doesn't beat me to it.

Thanks for posting this! I love Muppet Babies. In the 80s I had the Muppet Babies colorforms playset. I loved it because it had a picture of the real Baby Animal.
Do we know what episodes of Muppet Babies are on these DVDs?

Those pictures look absolutely nothing like the real things. Aside from the VERY different looking heads, the costume on Gonzo is totally wrong from mine.

I thought this might be good info for thos that are interested in the Beanies. I just got back from a local Target that had just put out a new box of these. There were 3 Kermits, 3 Piggies, 2 Gonzos, 2 Fozzies, 1 Animal  :( , and 1 Rowlf  :( .
So if you see a Rowlf or Animal, and you want them, be sure to grab them!
As far as the 10"ers go, Kermit, Piggie, Fozzie, and Gonzo are indeed the only ones shipping at this time.
And for those that have said that the pictures on that site do not do these justice, you're mostly right, especially with Gonzo, but the Fozzie pictured on that site looks much better than the real thing IMO.

I'm answering my own question because I got a response. Here is the email I got:
Each character features a different episode, as follows:
Gonzo: Baby Gonzo's video show
Kermit: Daily Muppet
Miss Piggy: Hyperactivity Book
Fozzie: eight take away one equals panic

I'm going to ask about which episodes will come with Animal and Rowlf later.
I actually remember these episodes. Especially Baby Gonzo's Video Show because it included a parody of Star Wars (I'll bet that's why you got it, huh, JediX ;) ). I looked up their descriptions on www.tvtome.com.

"From a Galaxy Far, Far Away" (episode#12) also has a Star Wars parody in it, too (this episode was released on vhs in the Muppet Babies series back in the early 90's). "The Daily Muppet" was also released on VHS for McDonald's in the late 80's (I also have this tape).
A agree, Baby Rowlf -- the earlier episodes were much better. I mean, I like Bean and all, but he just didn't work with the cast.

I love and will always love MB...Yes it is NOT muppet canon inany stretch of the im-ag-in-ayy-sheee-un, but still. Gah, one episode per dvd...oh well, if it was commercial there better be 5 episodes! heh I will say I am not so much into post 1986 episodes(like Transformers!) 84-86 or nothing I say!
anyone have a brief summary and year release for each epsiode available?
I so want a baby rowlf!!!

The TVTome guide might have summaries, but as each of us gain them we can post episode descriptions here.

Do you mean the episodes released w/ the plushes, Cory? I have Gonzo's Video Show & Daily Muppet (from that VHS), so if you want summaries of those... The TVTome guide will most likely have release years (or at least group them by season) so you can just do the math and figure em out.

Was it the early parody episode? The one where Rowlf is Obie won Kanobie? If so, I need to find 15 bucks to get Gonzo right away!
Too bad they couldn't put 2 episodes on DVD....
I was hoping when I read the article it was a larger DVD featuring 3-5 episodes with a small plus toy of Kermit or something, it's the opposite... weird. Oh well... hopefully these will do good enough to warrent a DVD release of more MB episodes... hopefully all fromk the first few seasons...

Wow, that's great! As a Muppet Babies fan, I can't tell you how thrilled I was to learn of this. I've been dreaming of MB in DVD for years... but it's disappointing that it's only one episode per DVD, and you have to buy a plush in order to get it. Plus I already have all those episodes on tape. Sigh... oh well. Hopefully something even better will stem from this. But the plushies have caught my attention, and perhaps if I can find one I will buy one ;)

Yeah... Gonzo is the one I want the most, Kermit a second, and Rowlf Third... but that's factoring in the DVD episodes. I loved Daily Muppet (the episode with a cameo by Oscar the Grouch in it).
But since Gonzo comes with the Star Wars episode, he's more irresistible.
Anyone know what Rowlf came with?
I hope they make a series 2 with Bunsen and Beaker, and Scooter and Skeeter...

One thing still bugs me: Why don't they release Babies Kermit and Animal in the outfits they had on the show? Babies Kermit , Piggy, and Animal are just recycled patterns from beanie versions they had in the mid-90s..>.<

Definately! Look how well Sababa did the Fraggles! Those are the best incarnations I've seen!:) As for Scooter and Skeeter....Maybe they'll be released in PVCs or something.
And on that note, I'd love it if they would come out with multiple pics of the Babies instead of reusing the same pose for each character over and over and over again...>.<

I have Muppet Babies' Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo, and Rowlf PVCs from the late 80's. Does anyone know what other characters were made. I am guessing that there was probably a Miss Piggy, but was there also Muppet Babies PVCs of Scooter, Skeeter, and Animal ?

Personally, I am definately going to get Gonzo when the money comes. But I am too disappointed that Scooter and Skeeter aren't included. I hope they can be PVC's, or (if they do well) a series 3 of the plush.
Anyway, what really disappoints me is the lack of Baby Bunsen and Beaker... I mean, Beaker's got his standing as a cult character, why not make him a plush/ PVC/ something...?

I have a question:
Is the disc slipped inside of that small cardboard case on it's own, or does it come in some sort of individual packaging? Wouldn't it get scratched or marked in that cardboard?
jediX
01-24-2004, 05:33 PM
It is inside the cardboard envelope depicted in my scans, but there shouldn't be any damage to the disc. Just to be safe you might want to pick up some empty dvd or jewel cases to store em' in.
Dr. Bombay
01-26-2004, 10:21 AM
Yeah, for the DVD, just wait until AOL sends you a disk and you can use that case. I find that I'm not irritated by them sending me disks because it gives me free cases to put in my DVDs that don't have covers. :)

I think Target has had good sales on the Muppet Babies. They are stocked on what I call the Retro-Toy Aisle with Care Bears and Rainbow Bright. They looked picked over and low esp. the beanies and the non-Piggy characters. Like Palisades, I wish companies would realize that Piggy will sell if they make a decent looking version. On a plush I think the only way to do a decent piggy is a plastic head with rooted hair. But they didn't ask me. IMO. Like the original Statler and Waldorf dolls of a few years ago with the flocked faces that is how Piggy would best look.

I don't know if this is old news or not, but I did just see a TV commercial yesterday of the Muppet Babies plushes w/ DVD. It mainly featured Miss Piggy, and the girl playing with Baby Piggy was putting way too much powder and makeup on the Piggy plush. At first I thought it was a new plush toy, 'Baby Piggy Make Up Doll' or something. But at the end they showed the other plushes briefly and said they all came with the DVD so I knew then that it was the same line that I got Baby Gonzo from at Target. Anyone else see this wacky commercial?

I saw the Baby Gonzo plush commercial today. It made no sense. It started out showing a plate of macaroni and cheese and it said, "Like mac and cheese, Gonzo and me!" And then this girl and her Gonzo plush did all sorts of things, from wresting with each other to playing detective (I think, it was hard to tell). I wasn't really paying too much attention to it, but I still don't know what that mac and cheese part has to do with anything. I half expected the girl to try and cram mac and cheese into the Gonzo plush. These Muppet Babies plush commercials always take me by surprise.

Today I saw the first commerical for these Muppet Babies dolls. It was shown on the CBS affiliate from Seattle (I get this channel through Digital Cable). That's too bad that there aren't any plans to produce the 10" plush dolls of Animal and Rowlf. I noticed, though, that the website says they are slated for Fall 2004 and they are many people looking forward to these two. It would be good if that could be updated to reflect current plans.
Hopefully plans will change to include them as well as other Muppet Babies such as Beaker, Bunsen, Scooter, and Skeeter.

Has anyone noticed how UNSAFE these plush are for small children? My 2 year old LOVES the Muppets. When I saw these, I was all set to buy all of them (the bean bag ones too) until I picked one up. The hard plastic that is used to form the mouths is ridiculously dangerous for a kids toy. If you place the side of Fozzie's (for example) mouth against the palm of your hand, it will hurt! Imagine a small child falling on one of these "plush" toys. Unfortunately, I had to pass on these. The company making these should have considered this to begin with and Target should look at what they are putting in their small children toys dept.

Ya know what. I just thought some other people with small children may want to know about the potential hazard of these toys. I let my 2 year old play with all of the Palisades figures and the Sababa toys. The Muppet Babies were poorly designed. Period. They are great for collectors but not for kids. They are being marketed by Target to kids (they are in the stuffed animal aisle). If you have them and you find that plastic coming to a point on the side of stuffed toys is OK, good for you. As for the Ralph, he was not available when I was in the store. I saw (small) piggy, gonzo, animal, fozzie, and Kermit and (Large) I think fozzie Kermit and Gonzo. I felt they were unsafe for a two year old (The sababa animal doesn't have hard plastic pieces to keep his mouth open). Whatever... Once your kid gets hurt (and, no, I'm not speaking to the 12-18 year olds on this board) then you will know what I'm talking about. Otherwise... let it go. :p :concern:

*whimpers* When are they going to come out with new stuff?
Sorry to break it to you, but... uh... considering they're trying to get rid of them, I do not think we'll see them any time soon....
>>same here, I want those dvds! ^__^<<
Yeah... I mean, it's a shame this emmy award winning classic doesn't get a proper DVD release, but they have boxed sets of "Punky Brewster" and "what's Happenin'"!

I wonder why Muppet Babies flunked so terribly this time around?
We never even got to Baby Rowlf with the DVD..:(

Personally I think it failed for several reasons.
First off, fans of the show would have to {as a whole} be into their 20's at this point. People in their 20's would want the show....not stuffed dolls.
In addition to that, only diehards will go out and spend 60 bucks for four dolls and 4 episodes. When you see season sets being released with 25 episodes going for 30 dollars, spending $60 for 4 episodes doesn't give many people an incentive.
Secondly, I don't know what they were really thinking from a marketing perspective. {This coming from a marketing major}. They didn't reintroduce a product so what exactly where they building their ad campaigns on?
They put a product out that frankly didn't really fit a niche. The dolls were designed for kids, but kids who are about 10 years too young to even remember the LAST of the muppet babies amazing 8 year run.
On top of that, they didn't put in a spot that many of their older target audience would frequent.
Then you have the idiots like me who spent 60 bucks on the darn things only to see them go on sale for a whopping 15 bucks. I wanna shoot myself for that, had i waited all of 3 weeks i could have saved 45 dollars!
The real problem here is that Henson {for the better part of a decade now} has been horrible at self promotion and in doing their market research.
They haven't really expanded the product, and the creative talent that made the muppets great is well.....gone.
The Henson website for years wasn't anything special and the only thing keeping the muppets alive at this point is the dire devotion of it's fans which are slowly dwindling down to an almost cult like following at this point.
If you're gonna launch the muppet babies brand you need several things that they lacked.
You need a buzz about the product. You can't take a show that was for kids and has been off the air for years and put out toys to appease the audience.
DVD sets are what is selling {see Garfield and friends as an example} and it was successful for a reason. They got the product out there, they gave the people what they wanted {the show} they didn't try to bundle what the people wanted with a product they really didnt {dolls} and most importantly they marketed the heck out of it.
The muppets haven't been seen in theatres since the 1990's. They haven't really gone out and asked what they people wanted and frankly without a good website, they aren't drawing people in to keep them connected.
I mean what does it say that Muppet Central is 100 times better than any official muppet site. It says that somewhere along the way, the company lost its leader when Henson died.
That's why Disney {love them or hate them} was so successful at one time. They expanded into new things, but they didn't let the old things die. Though you could argue they too have forgotten that approach, there certainly is a lesson to be learned there. The Henson company has pretty much let the muppets die for the better part of 10 years now.

Yes disney is a better more efficient family entertainment empire. But the money sucking coporation must realise that it cant just give muppets a total new make over they need to just pick it up off their feet and bring the characters back into people hearts again.

Well said. I think Monseiur Eisner needs to go before they relaunch the brand. His quality has suffered greatly since Mermaid 1, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Prince & the Pauper, and most definitely Mulan was THE last disney movie that was ever any good. **** these people who go to Brother Bear and Pixar films thinking they were any **** good, just because they're Disney, for chrissakes. I for one do not understand that logic and I never will. Kick Eisner out TODAY!

Problem is that at this point, i dont know if that is as easy as it seems. The muppets have taken a lot of damage for the better part of a decade now. That's 10 years of some less than spectacular scripts, product lines, etc.
Muppet's Tonight was supposed to reintroduce the muppets to a new generation.
The problem is that a lot of crative people have departed this world and they havent been replaced by as high a quality of creativness.
The problem is that in order for a product to survive it needs a place with a younger generation. Right now you're seeing a lot of people in their 30's and 20's who love the muppets but a whole generation has been lost now. Teenagers simply dont know the product anymore because the last consistent and high quality exposure to it would have taken place about 15 years ago at this point.
I think we have to look at the sad reality of the situation that Fraggle Rock is already over 15 years ago. Muppet Babies is 12 years ago and the last of the big three muppet movies is 20 years old already {1984}.
Henson company has lost the generation of kids born in the late 80's and early 90's and they've got little going in the generation that followed them thus far.
At this point it's gonna take a little big of a reintroduction and reinvention to get things rolling. A 10 year old today doesn't remember the hippies or have hippie parents, which when you look at was what the muppets kind of where.
It all triggles down from the main product which is the muppets. Everything below it{including the muppet babies} cannot survive without knowledge of the former. That is going to be the challange for the product now. Hopefully it works, but trying to reintroduce characters that few people under the age of 20 identify with is going to be tricky.

Thats what I'm wondering too. I'm confused cause most of the posts are from a couple of years ago. But now someone posted a new one today so I'm not sure if that means they are still out or not.

Your best bet in finding these would probably be eBay. Sometimes KB Toys.com still has stuff like this, but I'm not sure.
I never bought any of the few that were released. I kinda liked Fozzie, but I was really waiting for Rowlf, and then the line got cancelled! :sympathy:

I honestly woulda bought these dolls or even the mini ones, if Kermit was in his signature outfit. I CANT STAND how they never make him in his signature, but everyone else is in theirs.
I know they'eve made him in his signature a few times. But if they continued, then i'd definitly have them by now. So many times have i wanted to pick up Fozzie or Rowlf alone, but i'm the type of person that cant do that to them. I can pick up Kermit alone, but not the others.

Ha-ha, ugh, tell me about it. Plus his head looked kinda funky. Even too funky for a Muppet!
