Hi all,

For the second year running, Bear from Bear in the Big Blue House will be appearing on the ABC/Disney Christmas Parade. It's hosted by Regis and Kelly and will air on Christmas Day.

Fantastic News - Yay Bear !

I'm hoping to meet Bear again at the UK Toy Fair in January. Last time he was too busy cha-cha-cha'ing with two blonde babes that I didn't ask but i'll get a photo this year.

Sheesh! Bear's a great deal more of a player in reality... :)

Anyway, this will be the REAL Bear, right? Or will it be someone (besides his normal performer) in a Bear suit puppeteering to a recording much like the stage show version of him?

Yep, it's the real Bear, performed by Noel MacNeal. He'll be singing "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree."

Just a reminder that Bear will be on ABC's Christmas parade tomorrow morning.

Check out the appearance and let us know what you think.

I saw the appearance... it didn't look like the real bear costume to me - the arms were not connected, so the right arm was simply limp the whole time, like the puppet they use in the Playhouse Disney show across the street at the Disney MGM Studios. I guess that makes sense to me, why would they lug a whole bear costume down to Orlando in order to tape 1 appearance when they have a number of them down in the park anyways? He did a good job - wish I could have been there to see it.

It was indeed the real costume. The left arm is pinned deliberately, as not to catch on any unsuspecting child. It's easy to tell because the MGM Bears are all uniformly gold, while TV Bear has shades, variations in texture and color, and shadowing around the eyes.
