http://www.garfieldmovie.com/home.html Their site is now online, but doesn't have much content yet. You can catch a glimpse of how the new CG Garfield will look on the main page. Looks like a good compromise (unlike Scooby Doo).
The film has some major voice talent too. Check out the lineup (ignore Kimmel). Fun looking stuff though. And I thought Garfield was past his prime. We'll see about that next summer.

Can't wait either. He does look good. This is one film I can't wait for to see as well as Good Boy but this is about Garfield one of the funnest felines that needs more then one movie. Hope to see that it does a good job.

Hey, I like Jimmy! lol Anyway, Bill Murray is great but I ::HOPE:: he sounds like the old cartoon voice. Changing character's voices irritates me....I can't even stand to watch the new Ninja Turtles show due to the fact they sound NOTHING like my classic Turtles ;)

I'm so releaved that they decided to make him look like the regular cartoon with real fur. They way that Scobby tried to combine cartoony and realistic kind of creeped me out.

Well, after doing some research, I found out that the man that performed Garfield on the Garfield & Friends cartoon died in 2001. http://tvtome.com/tvtome/servlet/PersonDetail/personid-9593
Although Bill Murray sounds exactly like Garfield anyway. I can't wait to see this movie....I'm going to pull out my copy of the classic "Garfield's Halloween Adventure" and watch it. :)

Yeah... I guess the new one made by the creator, with all things related to his real creation and classic underground comic book is just not as good as the Disney-fied made for kids, annoying extra mutant o Rama... :grouchy: Sorry... I enjoy the new show much more than the classic, since it is what the creator wanted in the first place.
But for the Garfield movie, I think I'll skip it It looks alright, but really... there's better stuff like Shrek 2, Wallace and Grommet as a featurelenght movie, and such that I'l much rather see...

I haven't really seen the new TMNT series, but from what I have seen of it, it seems a little too dark for me. Kinda like the Batman series I guess; I didn't like any of the cartoons, just the corny Adam West series with the "POW"s, "BAM"s, "holy bikini"s, and everything else. I loved TMNT when I was younger. My brother and I watched it all the time. Michaelangelo was my favorite, and I even named my turtle after him. :)

It is darker and grittier, but it's still packed with jokes, if you look for it...
Think the first TMNT movie, only much much better...

I'm very curious about this film. I hope it's funnier than the comic strip.

Go easy. It's been well over twenty years.

Imagine a two hour movie of Garfield trying to smash spiders...................
Ok, that got old after 10 seconds.

I think he means recently... It's been very dull, and even Garfiled and Jon are bored in the strip...

*bangs head against wall several times*
I ment it's been going on for so long, you can't expect it to always stay as good as it's earlier years.

Don't damage that wall!!
Peanuts went 50 years, and though some were dry, the over-all experience was always entertaining. Too many strips now aren't maintaining their humor anymore. Jim Davis doesn't even do hardly anything at all anymore with Garfield, he has a staff who writes, draws, inks it all. He collects a check. I read the funnies and whatever I see about certain strips that I don't like, I try to go the opposite direction in my own comic strips.
Garfield ran dry. Davis gave up and gave in to other folks.

At least it's still giving you some insperation.
I hate you 120 seconds rule! I hate you so very very much!

Wow the voice talent looks good besides one..hehehe, hey what about Odie? well he doesn't talk, but hopefuly some ARF ARF's and slobbers;-)
I like how they have other dogs, cats mice and rats in the show, just like the cartoon, i hope it's better then the Scooby movie!
Cats rule! dogs drool!!!;-)

Well, here's the trailer (http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/garfield/). Here are two things I'm not sure about. (I was going to say 'don't like', but that seemed too strong at such an eary stage.)
I take back what I said about being glad they made the CGI image look like the cartoon character. It looks like they took the toon head and placed it on a real cats body.
Is that supposed to be Odie?
I would also like to point out that just because a movie is based on a comic, doesn't mean you should make the sets so colorful. We already know it's not a cartoon! Don't try to trick us into thinking it is!

I'm not sure about the rest of the trailer, but I dig the way CG Garfield looks. A good compromise of toon and cat. The eyes are the main thing that look toon on him and I'm glad they do. Wish the same could have been done for Odie. I know it would have been hard to translate him, but the real dog just doesn't do it for me. Will have to wait and see. CG looks better than Scooby Doo. The spirit of the character is intact. I'm cautiously optimistic. Thanks for the post! :excited:

Yes, Garfield does look pretty good in CG form. I also agree that not having Odie also as a CG character is something that should been done as you're not going to get the same kind of personality as we've all come to know and love from the cartoon strip (or the animated series). Oh well, these things always go through strange transitions from one media form to another..

I don't understand Odie not beinfg a CGI... I mean, you whent that route with Garfield... might as well make Odie too... it looks far too disconnected. In all honesty... Jim Davis really should see this movie sort of the way Scrooge saw how his death would be... it's his oppertunity to go back and change everything... maybe even writing the comics again..
i love Garfield, and I am really really upset by how bad this movie is going to be.... :(

Let's go over the prosses.
Wait for the movie to come out.
Then start declairing that it sucks.

Other than the CGI Garfield (which would make a good short film by itself) this movie will undoubtably suck. I mean, you can't kick a real puppy off a table... why in God's name didn't they bother to make a CGI Odie? This movie may have potential, but I really think that it's squandered. They could have done a million times better with casting and they could have freaking made a CGI Odie... that's all I ask of them... a CGI Odie voiced by Greg Berger.... that would have made the difference...

they showed the garfield trailer in the movie stuck on you. after the trailer, my dad and i looked at each other thinking this is going to be really dumb. from the look of the trailer, the movie may not be that good.....

yeah me too.
speaking of which, how come they never show the garfield holiday episode where he has to go to john's families house. they used to show that and the claymation christmas special back in the late 80's to early 90's.

I miss the Garfield animated christmas special being on tv, I always watched it every year. They have just about every other Christmas show or movie on tv, I don't know why they can't still show that.
